I got so done with AC when I heard that they killed off the main antagonist that transcends the entire timeline in a comic

I have nothing better to do

I saw the dev quote, I honestly disagree with what they are saying the theme of the game is

Like yeah I agree that what they intend is still there

but the whole game is still about grief

But it doesn't really matter, death of the author and all that

Anyone taking this personally needs to take a break and touch grass, including that tweet

Like the whole inception of the damn world hinges on

Aline, the paintress, being struck with grief because her son died that she went into the painting he created as a kid, mad a copy of all her families based on what she thinks of them and a bunch of humans so they could all live "normal" lives

The story of the world is based on grief

I still wish that all of that would had been a sequel

game should have ended after act 2 imo

God no

That would have been a horrible ending

Keep in mind that I still haven't played it and only know the major story points but

I don't think the game ever really fleshed out the genocide or holding the family accountable for it if we consider that the people in the painting were actual real people. I find this part of the story insanely problematic. The family doesn't face any real punishment

Something I saw earlier:
> Don't create a parasocial relationship with a company just because it has cute mascots

The game not fleshing that part out enough means that

it works with the logic that they aren't real people which is what I understood from the story beats

FFXIV Dawntrail had a similar issue in its final act

There is no one to punish them. The whole thing can be solved by Aline and Alicia getting out of the painting but they are so stuck on Verso's death that they want to stay there. Renoir believes these are real people that deserves to live, but his priority is on his wife and daughter getting out.

The genocide doesn't matter. It's going to happen regardless, the choice is just when it does. Do you let the suffering of a kid's soul in the painting continue or do you let him pass on in peace

There's also a dialogue that suggests creating humans like this isn't something you should do, so evrything goes back to the Paintress being so lost that she did it anyways

So if

Renoir is aware that they are real people why didn't they just repaint them after daughter and mother escaped? Or was the painting so firetrucked? How does the painting even work in this case

Or can only

the real Verso repair the painting?

That is what Verson wanted initially. He wanted to kick Aline out of the painting and later bring back the people. Renoir knew that Aline wouldn't stop so the only option was to burn the painting completely. But then Alicia was like her mom too, she wanted to stay in there

So basically they can't make an ending where we

have Verso's ending + repainting the world because then it would be clear which ending is the objectively better one?

I mean they can but it wouldn't be the same thing

The thing about the canvas they are in is that the real Verso created it. His soul is part of it, even if they repaint it in something new it wouldn't be the same

like they

all escaped but for some reason they can't repaint the people in the picture after they escaped?

The painting is dead, painted Verso got Verso's soul to stop it as he was suffering

Which is why I think the whole game is

about grief. Like yeah its about art and the artist, but that is born from the grief of Verso dying

Also this should go for anything really

Content creators, celebrities and whatever

nah sorry I already converted to christianity

😌

Oh man I forgot about this

I need more people here to finish the game, I want to talk about this so much

:aquacry:

director said he will never give is opinion on the endings, he wants people to talk about it and argue strelitziapeek

even the dev team is split on them

That's a good thing and I hope they stick to it

i personally don't understand the other side but i don't care that much

I can't believe I have to deal with interview translations with this game too

At least this is good to know because I agree there
