Also for the missions, is there a point for me to go get the chests in the missions or should I just beeline for the end?

Some of them have useful equipment or rare stuff like Phoenix Downs.

If you want to get completion, I believe that involves getting all listed chests in the SOLDIER missions.

300 missions was way too many as most are filler just for the sake of having 300 missions.

Some missions or shops can even become unavailable if you don't work on them before progressing past a certain point.

I've only missed 2 missions in chapter 3, but I think I can still get them in a later chapter?

Missable missions as in they stop becoming available after a certain point or you can't access them w/o doing something prior that becomes available at a certain point

For the minigame where you have to count the drops, I recommend pausing in between each set as you add them up bit by bit. I believe that one has to be done perfectly twice (consecutively) to get the optimal reaction.

There was two missions that were avaliable earlier that I didn't get but I can now in this chapter

Some of them have high star difficulty that you should wait until Zack is more leveled and has more access to skills to complete rather than doing them in the order they are unlocked.

yeah, I've already hit a couple of those missions

The break damage limit and weapon upgrade feels so nice for them later on.
