What I found funny, related to all of this, was people on Twitter not understanding that Cloud's memories aren't just Zack's they're also his as well mixed in with it all

If that were the case, he might mention Zack. Even when asked if he had any SOLDIER friends, he has trouble recalling Zack; a friend he needs a near-death event to remember.
