Nah i think in this iteration she's valid for it

especially with how much effort they are putting into showing how messed up Cloud is. Telling Aerith the truth and having the two of them to work together on piecing him back together is a good addition

 

I expect

the weapons in the reactors to be a big red herring and we will have to fight ruby, diamond, sapphire and emerald in part 3's story

so far it looked to me that the reactor weapons are just a teaser and foreshadowing for part 3
