I will give you Yuffie, that one is very different. But I think so far it hasn't really changed anything yet in the broader sense. Mostly just introduce Deep ground earlier.

I mean yea but she was an optional character, this time they're giving her a more fleshed out story so she fits into the narrative more cleanly and is an actual character

its because that was the defining moment of the game. its one of the most iconic scenes in gaming history at this point and one of the biggest driving forces of the original story

I understood these two too. But I am also the one apparently in denial according to the internet that this is about the lifestream and not timelines.

you can make smaller changes that lead to the same conclusion, but changing aerith would literally just make it a different story altogether

But you know you're not lol

I don't think completely

They could find a way to BS the White Materia going off without her sacrifice

I will find out in 3 months haha

But then again, FF7 wasn't even about Cloud vs Sephiroth or Aeirth's death: The broader themes are about life and pushing forward and moving on from and through pain and loss.

That's the real story and it's already been torn apart by the survival of the aforementioned characters

Point being why not just go all in at this point?

That is very understandable and I agree

Yeah there's no denying this is a reimagining

Whether it keeps up the spirit of the original or not is yet to be seen

To drive the point that not everyone can be saved and sometimes you truly can't change fate?

Remake did it for me the part

But those last 2 hours sure does sour a lot of the goodwill the remake does do

cuz it seems like they're having all these characters living due to the whispers influence since it isn't shown that biggs was alive until after the whispers are defeated

idk I'm kinda spit balling here

That's kind of how I feel too- especially because Remake can't decide if it's going to go all in on the meta narrative of "The whispers represent the fans and examining the relationship FF7 has with the world" or if it wants to just be a remake with new bells and whistles

Cause clearly they want you to have at least been familiar with the original and compilation.

me who's played none of them 😎

I thought of that too- which would be a ballsy move on Square's part- give people hope just to take it away? That's cold lol I respect it but then again, why let them live in the first place? Cheap sequel baiting? Cause that's what it'll feel like I yell ya

i think we'll have a very good visual of what they're going for fully once rebirth drops. feels like they've been toying with us on purpose to keep this sort of conversation going for years lol

i doubt they'd drag it along through the third game

That is how Nomura likes to write 😔 I know he's not super in the writers room on this one but still

Hahahaha

I fully expect them to drag it to 3

You know what they're gonna do guys? Do you actually know what this is all gonna lead to?

Final Fantasy 7-2.

All I know is that executing the areith scene well is going to be difficult considering everyone's opinion on the matter and all the different ways that it could go

DoC rema- oh yeah that too i suppose
