I think you're right but I don't think we'll know which direction they'll take it until it comes out

I hope the characters get all a redesign in part 3

I feel like their base outfits are too iconic to straight up replace

I can't really see what they would do with either Vincent or Cid as DLC

Vincent with Lucrecia should be part of the main story

And him waking up earlier than meeting Cloud and the gang would be hella lame

With Cid I can't even think of an example

vincent and lucrecia will be interesting because it was completely optional

I hope they make it so that

the entire 7 storyline is just Genesis daydreaming

 

but maybe that's what Hamaguchi meant with witcher 3 style sidequests
