Ok so i was playing birth by sleep and "vanitas"took off his helmet and it was sora what was he doing there he was supposed to be 5 years old what's going on *head explodes* jk

The reason why he looks like Sora is because at the very beginning of BBS Ven connected his heart with Sora's in order for his own heart to be fixed and restored after his heart and darkness got extracted. Vanitas is made of Ven's darkness, so he was still connected to him. So when Ven merged his heart with Sora's it affected Vanitas's appearence, thus looking like Sora. And BBS took place 10 years before KH1, so during the events of BBS Sora was still at the Islands having a care-free life.

 

As for Sora's looks in KH3D, those pics are just to show off the capabilities of the 3DS. And show how strong it is.

He also looked a little different on the Re:Coded Ultimania cover.

The 3D picture just has Sora making a goofy facial expression, that's all. I honestly don't think he's any different.

Another thing to remember is that as time goes on, character renders will change, making them look different. Case in point: KH2's open render of KH1 Sora.

KH3D should be the highest graphical quality KH yet, the 3DS is the most powerful system to house a KH.

I'm actually pretty sure they're using a higher quality model now. Sure the stuff we've seen in the trailer could be prerendered (Though the heartless part looks player controlled) But if it's not, Sora's Sleeves and pants are smoother than in previous games.

 

now compare these to the KH3D pics.

its the same basic model everytime. the only difference is advances in graphics and more shadows used as the years pass by... although they have made his hair a tad lighter color since KH1, that ive noticed

Not a particularly fair comparison, since Re:CoM uses prerendered graphics, but you're exactly right.
