I've been thinking a lot about Kingdom Hearts recently even replayed the 2 games over the last 3 weeks and I've started to notice and wonder something about the series. I'd say it's probably been through everyone's mind. Would KHIII be the last one and if not there it feels like the series will eventually end.

Reasons:

It's sort of implied that when Sora finds a way to stop the Heartless completely he won't really "need" the Keyblade anymore and without them the series would without an antagonist and there in a point to adventure Disney worlds.

Theres a large gap between sequels like the 4 years between 1 & 2 and the fact that it's been nearly 3 years since 2 and 3 is nowhere in sight, maybe their building up to something? (Note I know theres spin-offs but their not the main series)

How many Disney worlds can they add and revisit before it gets kind of old and pointless?

Also another thing it's getting old redoing the 1st game COM & Coded.

Now discuss

Do you think the series will end in the next game? 1 member has voted

I've thought of the same thing too. Ur reasons are pretty solid in my opinion. It might be a good place to end the series i would think. A trilogy with 4 spin-offs (unless they make more) but it would be sad to see it end. Thinking of such things makes me depressed :P

Um...there's only a 1 year gap in between KH and KH2...?

-confused-

Other than that, I think the third game might be the last main game. Like, they still might make the side games that you don't have to play, but they help you better understand the story (like CoM, you didn't really need to play that to understand kh2 since it basically showed you what happened in the opening video, and they never referred to it.)

I honestly think the third game will be the longest, deepest game in the series storywise, and depending how it ends it'll be strong enough to end the series.

Heck, there might not even BE a KH3. Nomura said he wasn't even sure if wanted to do a KH2, let alone a KH3. Then again, he said that after the release of KH. :

As long as we get to meet the Organization's true selves and there are more "original" worlds rather than a bunch of Disney worlds (but also enough Disney worlds so you still get the Disney feeling of the game) and Sora and Kairi kiss already, I'll be perfectly content if KH3's the last game.

^~^

And if none of that made sense, tough.

Makes sense to me.

xD

They just made 358/2 Days give them time to make the next one.

I've tought lately though mabe your right about it ending after the third one many people will morn the day it ends.

But look at Final Fantasy and long it's been made my second oldest brother said the first one was made around when the first paystation came out many people will morn the day it ends too.

My point is that we need to wait to see what hapens intell we all know what will hapens and not jump to concutions intell we know this is all I have to say about ~The End?~:P

Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy are different though.

In Kingdom Hearts all the games revolve around the same characters, the same themes, and same story.

The Final Fantasy games...well, I don't play them, but I know each one is different story, character, theme-wise. :

I dont play it ether so I guess I didn't know what I was talking about:blush:

It's already been stated that Coded will be an opening for a bigger game.

@ kairiwilson1, sorry I meant to say years in development

@ NamiRoku, 1, welcome to the site 2, I'm not jumping to conclusions I'm just saying KH feels like it has a beginning, a middle and an end, I just have a really strong feeling the 3rd one will be the last one and as depressing as it is to think it I doubt it'll end anytime soon and sure Birth by Sleep looks REAL importannt storywise and Coded like Cella said

Honestly i think that as long as they're making money they'll attempt to continue the story.

well,i think we should consider coded as KHIII since it DOES take place after KH2,but Coded is still a good name(instead of KHIII)

That would be like calling CoM KH2, lol.

Coded is an in-between game.

It is NOT kh3.

Cella-sama is right Coded is pretty much KHII's COM even down to them somehow making a new plot out of a rehash of the first game

im not sure what the story line of khIII could be since they already killed the leader of the heartless and nobodies. so what other bad guys could they face?

They could face Xehanort the human.

If you kill a heartless before you kill the nobody, apparently the soul/body/heart find each other and the somebody comes back.

So i'm assuming that implied a human Xehanort.

Well in kh1 (not counting FM) did you know or was there a hint or anything at all of the nobodies? in kh1 as far as everyone knew there was no such thing as nobodies.

The speaker was wearing a cloak, was he not?

I would assume he was Xemnas.

Oooh....maybe that will be cleared up in KH3??

o.o

Noooo, Cellar that cloak was brown. and it didn't look like the org's cloaks, it was more of a robe.

Ahh yeah, my mistake.

I still think its going to be a human xehanort we face next though lol.

The Ansem Reports in KH 1 implied something about the body disappearing and I think he wondered what happened to the body and that made me wonder "what does happen to the body?" Then KHII pretty much sorted that out for me

Well, if Coded is like an in-between game, then there will definitely be a kh3, it's just a matter of time in my oppinion. Let's see, kh2 came out in 2006? (that's what my brother says, but he could be wrong) so it's been 3 years but SE has made Days, BbS, and Coded, so it might be '11 to '13 (at the latest) till we hear anything, if there's anything to hear.
