We talking about first party and third party

this sub is so lost

they just want to homogenize jrpgs

I firetrucking hate it

😭

I honestly don't think that's the case at all

It's just about FF and where it pivoted to what it is now

SE never made good turn-based FF games except for FFX

I would even go that far and say the ps1 era especially was objectively bad

but also SE had no real competition during that time

if they do turn-based don't let CBU1 or 3 touch it

> For the sake of clarification the main focus of my rant is that I at least want to see one modern FF game with a full on turn-based combat system. I am not saying that hence forth all FF games must be turned-based or they'll suck, Rebirth is absolutely fantastic and I very much love it, however, I think there is room for both systems to shine. Wanted to clear that up because I have been seeing a ton of people misconstruing my point.
why can't people just say that

holy firetruck

instead of doing these dumb as firetruck comparisons

just say it immediately that you want a turn-based ff game

the argument for FF should more be

or this entire case better

"The combat system doesn't matter, what matters is consistency"

Atlus games didn't sell better because of turn-based

or more

they sold better because they made a game for a specific audience and doubled down on what people like with each release

if SE would move to turn-based now they would do the opposite

Then you should tell Square too that action games doesn't sell more either because that's exactly how we ended up where we are now

I mean yes I always thought that was a dumb thing to say

The issue was never that turn based games would sell more, the issue has always been pivoted against what they made before to get more profit

I think people should advocate for Remake trilogy combat system because the only part that is missing is that classic mode doesn't play as well as it could be. the combat system itself plays like a classic ps1 era FF

on classic mode

and yes it feels like shit but the reason for that is because the old atb system was already shit

but no one wants to admit that

it needs more sth like xiii-2 atb

It sold a million in 1 day thats still impressive

Also yeah Otti is right

Who's side are you on Tea 😭

both

One minute you like turn based until you don't then you like action based til you don't

You like a game until people like it too much

But then you like something when people hate it

Yesterday it's "this id Atlus'" best game

Today it's

"It ONLY sold a million copies."

SO WHICH IS IT 😭😭😭😭

yeah SE would bury themselves with one million copies

I hate this subreddit so much

someone that is half decent at economics wouldn't argue with a firetrucking combat system

atlus is economically more efficient because they reuse 90% of their game assets and built an audience because they made multiple games their audiences likes

but that isn't tied to a combat system

You are taking the one million part too literally here

no I don't. r/jrpg does

Atlus selling one million is huge because it's a turn based game because they made a good game

You are right that square selling one million isn't good but that's not the argument. The argument is that they can still sell well making a AAA turn based FF game.

How well it does in sales is dependent on the company, but the point is that Square has a chance to do the same

they can if they built an audience around it

but the thread op wants only one game turn-based

what FF right now needs is a consistent identity and considering that their past 4 games have been action or action hybrid SE would do the same mistake again

it's not worth it for one game

which is why ppl should ask for Rebirth's combat system. it's the closes ppl can get that can make most ppl happy

and by the time 17 happens we have 3 games with this combat system

I don't disagree that they need consistency, that's been their biggest issue since X released

But Tea that's my point- what do you* want- do you *want turn bases or not??

But going back to their roots would also be a way to bring back consistency

I want what makes SE the most money because I will play FF games regardless of their style

FF hasn't had a universal claim like it did from 1 to 10 (other than 8 but that still did well)

Also why does FF need to be 'consistent' in design philosophies?

Can't they just
