FF16 has a good base for the game but it's not great

FF7-FF9 was so popular because the games all shared a common identity which is ATB

and also reused music and assets in some cases

I think a good example of a company going against what they did but still not abandoning it is RGG with the Yakuza game

7 was popular cause it was a great game it wasn't the mechnicas

8 is good, 9 is good

Going from an action brawler to turn based games is an insane pivot

But it succeeded and still selling well
