August 21, 200916 yr @luzze no, Dec. 31, 1999 was Y2K, when all technolegy was supposed to fail and ppl thought that they should stock up on guns and food so they can live in this angry domain of scrounging for food. @ everyone that wasnt the first time people went nuts over nothing, there was a radio show in the 50s or 60s that was about aliens that was QUITE relistic while this was happening there were reports that something flew out of the sky and landed on a farm, causing it to go up in flames. People believed this and ran out of their houses screaming in panic and holding rags over their faces for protection agaist "poison gasses" the people who did the broadcast ended up...well......almost being arrested...... THATS WHY in every commercail break on the radio people CONSTANTLY reminded the audience that the story was fake instead of just saying it at the beginning. just as Nny says: "People go into panic when they consider, heh, their untimely demise."
