Will either of them fail?

I don't want Riku to fail! D'8 I'm not really sure what will actually happen, I mean, I'd love it if they both passed. 8)

But Nomura always likes to pull a fast one on us....so I wouldn't be surprised if only one of them passed. It'd probably be most shocking if Sora failed and Riku passed...because Riku failing the exam would kinda be...well, you'd be able to kinda see that one comin', as much as I'd hate that happening. x''D

I don't like Riku. Or Sora really I find them both annoying but I'd like to see Sora annihilate Riku when they fight. Revenge for being such a bastard in KH1.

Each master does the Mark of Mastery exam differently. There is a chance Sora and Riku won't fight. Also, Sora and Riku will both pass, as it is required for both of them to be masters so they can take on Xehanort. So it's impossible for one of them to fail.

You are dogmatic in your statements. You don't work for Square Enix. They don't have to be masters it doesn't change them does it? It's just a title. A reason why I don't see the point in KH3D.

I'm just going to say something different. I think Riku will pass and Sora will fail. Kind of like in other shows and games, where the main character fails at something but beats the bad guy at the end. lol Nomura could use this technique or not.

Perhaps I was harsh when I called you a moron but since then it has been all out war between us. The only thing you have contributed to my threads are:

In my opinion, it would be cool if Sora failed, being the overconfident child he is.

What if Sora lost and Riku won? Perhaps that's what Nomura meant by "Riku will fly, Sora will fall"? o_O (And then Sora went into a state of depression and needed someone getting kidnapped for him to gain back his confidence and become the hero again, etc.)

I think that they will both pass, but the ever looming "shocking ending" doth enter my mind.

I doubt it. Through Riku's side of the story so far, we have seen that you can do good with darkness. If he were to fail, I don't think it will be 'cause of that.

Yen Sid isn't as close-minded about darkness as Eraqus was. Riku uses his darkness for good, which is acceptable.

As much as I like both, I think Sora will fail and Riku will pass, but it kind of makes sence with J.Severe's idea of 'a Riku that will fly and a Sora that will fall' from Nomura's quoteinterview answer. Yes, Riku has darkness inside him BUT he overcame it during the last games, plus agrees with Azure Flame cause Master Eraqus who thought darkness was evil but even saw that he himself had some inside him.

This could work, but also by this reasoning, Sora could fail to reaffirm his simple need to have his friends.

Well, if Darkness is going to be the catalyst for either failing, I'd say it'll probably be Sora. Riku's come to terms with his Darkness, but Sora represses it and keeps all of his feelings bottled up inside (mainly because of Donald and Goofy). That's the more dangerous choice because Sora, in a moment of weakness, could easily lose control that way. Maybe that'll be the shocking ending.

 

Truthfully, I'll be really mad if they both don't pass. I'll feel like we wasted an entire game doing something stupid when we should have been saving people, hunting Xehanort, the family business (Anyone who knows the show Supernatural will get that joke). And since there's a crisis at hand, I think Yen Sid should come out of retirement, pick up his Keyblade again, and join the fight. The epic-ness of him fighting would be to die for. Fighting and magic at its best!

 

You know, upon re-watching the 3D trailer, the scene where Riku goes into the Second District (before all of the falling Sora's) reminds me of when Sora first entered it in KH1. It looks similar. Also, does anyone else think Sora's running away from someone in the Notre Dame scene? Maybe he teamed up with Frollo because he was aligned with "Light". Or maybe Frollo is persecuting him, too. Anyway, in some ways I have to wonder if 3D might be about what would have happened if Riku had gotten Kingdom Key (like he was supposed to) and Sora had to use other means to save Kairi (like Darkness). This would "tear down past elements".

i think only Sora will pass coz Riku still has to much darkness in his heart to become a Keybalde Master
