How much do you think the NGP will cost?

Posted

As we all know the Sony Next Generation Portable is the succesor to the PSP. Sony calls the NGP a "portable PS3" but we'll just have to see about that. THe NGP has High Resolution HD graphics, two camera's, 3G, two analog sticks, a touch screen, and much, much, much more. This is the ultimate handheld system and it does just about everything (well ecsept for 3D but you get the point). Many people think that a system as powerful as the NGP that does so many things will cost a lot of money. Some people have joked around and said it will cost thousands maybe millions of dollars. But in reality it will be underneath $1000 dollars. I've heard things all over the internet and I don't know which to believe. One website claimed a Sony executive said the NGP will cost more than the Nintendo 3DS ($249). But another website said according to Sony, the NGP won't cost as much as the failed PSP Go ($249). Really I don't know which website to believe but I think the price of the NGP will be $250. $250 is a pretty reasonable and affordable price. Sony also confirmed there will be a 3G NGP and one that doesn't have 3G. So maybe the one without 3G will be $249? But, this has never been confirmed outside of Japan. Once I saw the NGP I knew without a doubt I would get it. With this system its possible to play Kingdom Hearts 3 on the go. Anyway, how much do you think the NGP will be?

i'm going 300$

anywhere up to there, i will buy it. anywhere up to 350$ i will consider it, anything above is out of the question.

and there's a non 3G version? awesome.

300$-400$ hard to say but it will cost alot, but I hope it's worth it.

I vote $350. Maybe Sony will charge $300 for the Wi-Fi only version, but I believe the 3G version will be at least $350.

i doubt it's going to surpass the 300$ mark, to keep competitive with the 3DS

True, but Sony said there no longer competing with Nintendo and that thier main concern is Apple and it's technology. So it could be $299.

but, in terms of the Playstation products, apple isn't even in the same market as sony...

Apple's ipad can be used for gaming, and the new ipad has an even stronger graphics processor, and you know how everyone's fearing that tablets and cellphone gaming is gonna destroy handhelds right? Apparently Sony must feel the same way.

i'm fearing it. good phones and tablets are stupid, and i don't want them. as much as i like change, i only like it when it's actually for the better.

lol, fred voted 500$

If I was Sony, I would put the price at $250. I bet the NGP will outsell the 3DS if they do that. Also, I believe no handheld should cost more than $250, otherwise I'm just buying a console to walk outside with. lol Seriously, if Sony does this, it'll make up in the long run.

Well it's probably gonna be $450 in Australia. The 3DS is $350 in most stores. I bought an original PSP for $500 whenit came out so the price will probably be around that, but i have a good feeling less. You'd think with our growing economy things would get cheaper, no.

If Sony had better handheld brand recognition, and a good marketing campaign, then yes. But the don't :/

If Sony really wanted to blow Nintendo out of the water they would sell the NGP for $199.99. But I doubt thats ever going to happen.

yeah, but sony have pretty much pimped the PSP into the NGP, with all the stuff stuck onto it, they're able to justify selling it for a bit more. $250 would be a welcome surprise.

I voted $349 because why would sony sell it for $100-200 and $400 bucks -.-

Damn. Never knew things were so expensive in Australia.

They're more expensive here in Brazil, believe me.

A ps3 normally is 1.200R$ (600$)

The 3ds is 1.000R$ (500$)

My psp was 550R$ (275$)

:/

If Sony wants to blow Nintendo out of the water they'd have to give the NGP away for free. $199.99 would probably allow them to match Nintendo at best...
