Godot 513 Posted August 7, 2011 I hate to bump another old thread, but... so, even though I've said I'll never go to a con, my friends have convinced me to go to a small one near our town. it doesn't seem too bad, but I'll need to get a small cosplay ready. I'm thinking of going as Maria from Maria+Holic: http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv337/Cruz_Raul/maria-holic.jpg (he's the blonde one on the far right, holding the rosary). I've already found the top and skirt that I want (http://www.cosplayhouse.com/Maria-Holic-Female-Uniform-Cosplay-Costume-Version-02-Sale.html); the only problem is the wig. normally, I would just use my regular hair (it's the same color and texture, and the style for the cosplay is pretty simple), but since I got it cut, it's way too short. tl;dr does anyone know where I can find a good quality, medium-length, blonde wig? (preferably cheap, but I can save up for an expensive one too)
Ivan 969 Posted August 7, 2011 Try Arda wigs, they have amazing quality wigs, and the wigs are sold at good prices (the most you'll ever have to spend is $40, I believe --not including shipping--), and ship relatively fast. Here's the website: http://www.arda-wigs.com/ For the kind of wig you're searching for, I suggest either the Le Tigre (long) or the ferrari in light blonde. aubreyloveskh 16 Posted August 7, 2011 The next characters I'm planning on cosplaying as are a girl version of sora, a halloween version of kairi, and princess sakura from tsubasa. I drew designs for kairi and sora. Here is the princess sakura cosplay I want to make (I'm also going to make fairy like wings that light up with it, I couldn't find a picture with this dress and her wings)- http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/35041232/view/ifcw1009e.jpg I will definitely need a wig for sakura, and idk about sora yet since I'm not positive how I want the hair styled yet. I can just dye and style my hair to look like kairi's, I have already cosplayed her before. Eventually, I'm going to need help with wigs, but I'm not planning on working on those cosplays until next month. So I will be back for questions about wigs later. For the outfits I am sewing everything, I will probably buy sora's shoes, I have his necklace already, and I will need help making a keyblade. If anyone has any good tips on making keyblades let me know. I don't have too many questions now, but I probably will later. As for my own tips, if you need any help with sewing feel free to message me or something. I am good at sewing, and even if I don't know how to help you right away I have no problem helping you figure something out. I want to be a fashion designer, so any new things I can learn is always good.
Ivan 969 Posted August 7, 2011 I'm doing a Nice Holystone from Baccano! cosplay. It's a pretty easy cosplay, since all the clothes I need I can find at Walmart or GoodWill. The wig I'm going to order online, and probably have a friend make the eye-patch for me. I just need to find facepaint to use for the scars along the right side of her face and shoulders. I was wondering if I could find just some face/body paint at an iParty or some other store, or if I'll need the make up similar to the ones Homestuck troll cosplayers use to make their skin gray? X blade 2 Posted August 9, 2011 Ive always wanted to try a cosplay they sound fun. but I do know a little bit about making keyblades. If you are not good with tools I would suggest buying one on e-bay (but they can be expensive). If you want to make a very realistic keyblade you should make a metal one but you will have to weld. Or you could also make your keyblade out of wood. For the chain just go to your nearest Lowes or other hardware store and by a cheap chain link. For the mickey symbol on the end you can find some of them on e-bay or make one(but I dont sujest it if your not good with tools).
Think Pink 1,967 Posted August 10, 2011 Just got Yuna's costume for my birthday! I don't have my ears pierced, though, so I'll have to try and figure something out with her earring, if anyone has any tips for that. I'm thinking maybe trying to attach it to a pair of headphones, and hiding them under my wig? I got this one: http://www.cosplayhouse.com/Final-Fantasy-X-Yuna-Cosplay-Costume.html
Koko 3,944 Posted August 12, 2011 I don't think the earring would make much of a difference honestly. if you can't figure out anything for her earring, it's fine, as long as the rest of your cosplay looks nice! Anyways guys this is my finished cosplay (me being on the right, fantastic Karkat on the left) Now I'm working on a new cosplay, fem!Gamzee or Gamzii. this is what I'm using as a reference (with a few modifications, such as the shirt being different, and the make up being more like the original gamzee) I can basically get a lot of stuff locally, but can anyone help me with the clubs? Also here was a test run on the face paint. this is regular gamzee btw
4Everbee 1,365 Posted August 15, 2011 where can i buy sora and tamaki cosplay? and how can i make my hair like larxene?thanks!
Ivan 969 Posted August 15, 2011 Look around on ebay, there'll be cosplays and wigs you can buy there. Just type in "Sora cosplay" or "Tamaki cosplay" in the search bar, there'll be tons of results. How to make your hair like Larxene's? The best bet to go with is to get a wig and style it like hers. I'm pretty sure there's a tutorial somewhere around the internet that shows you how to style it into her hairstyle.
Koko 3,944 Posted August 18, 2011 Yeah, also if you're cosplaying Sora or Tamaki, you will need to bind because you're a girl. Unless you're still as flat as a board, i recommend getting some ace bandages and looking up tutorials also male makeup
Final Hearts 69 12 Posted August 20, 2011 @rikuluver 15, I was Demyx one year for Halloween and for an anime convention-but I bought a crappy wig and styled it. You could buy a wig that is close to whichever one you want to be and style like they have their hair...that's as best as I could help you on that, sorry I can't be much more of a help on that. Kingdom Sora 464 Posted September 16, 2011 I need some help putting together a cosplay idea for my anime club, there setting up a cosplay day (meaning I have to wear it all day) and I don't know what to do really. I was thinking of something from D.N Angel but I need help with the ideas on it. Can anyone help me devise one for my Anime club? 2 KennethHaf and JerryDuera reacted to this
Number XV 490 Posted September 16, 2011 Get an Itachi Cosplay outfit from Naruto. Not only is is fricken awesome, all you have to do is buy another wig and head-band if you want to cosplay as another character from the Akatsuki.
Miku Hatsune 636 Posted September 17, 2011 I started cosplaying ages ago, so I know quite a bit, but wig styling is the bane of my life. I wanna do a Karkat cosplay so freakin' bad, and I already have the wig for it. But, uh... It came with all this product in it, and looked spiky and greasy as f*ck, so I washed it out. Now it's flat as hell and doesn't look anything like how I wanted it to be. Does anyone know how to properly style a flat wig to make it look like it has more volume? If not, can someone direct me towards a cosplay site that sells good semi-poofy wigs? (If all else fails, I'm gonna have to ask /cgl/ personally.) Either one of these would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I need some help putting together a cosplay idea for my anime club, there setting up a cosplay day (meaning I have to wear it all day) and I don't know what to do really. I was thinking of something from D.N Angel but I need help with the ideas on it. Can anyone help me devise one for my Anime club? D.N. Angel would be just slightly difficult, since most wigs of their characters suck, so you'd have to do quite a bit of styling. (Daisuke has spiky-ass hair, and Dark has that... stringy, yet shiny hair, which usually looks derpy if you just buy ANY purple wig online.) Itachi would be a better idea, but not recommended. Akatsuki cloaks can be expensive, just how Organization cloaks can be pricey as well. If you want something easy that looks cool, you can try Izaya: http://media.photobu...9476fd71c10.jpg Or Hibari: http://fullcosplay.t...o-hitman-reborn If you're feeling ballsy, do Link (which can get expensive... My Link cosplay cost me over 200 bucks.): http://www.zeldadung...-by-pikminlink/ (PikminLink might crush your dreams as being Link since she's so good at it though, lol. I know she did that to me.) Akatsuki cloaks for 50 dollars usually aren't the best; whether it be fabric, quality, or the seller. However, since Naruto is super popular, the stuff has been cutting down in prices since more and more people want it... Rings and headbands are definitely easy. I used to get all my Naruto apparel at a local Gamer's shop, lol. Granted, Naruto stuff in general is pretty simple to find; through the Internet and malls alike. Aqua7KH 5,395 Posted September 18, 2011 F*** YES I GOT A AMERICA COSTUME! i shall be posting a pic soon (dont got a wig though >_< and Texas is making me blind) and ill be trying out for a casual Prussia cosplay once i get a "Hello my name is Awesome!" from hot topic and a white wig lol
Koko 3,944 Posted September 18, 2011 @Kingdom Sora I suggest someone easy with a casual NORMAL outfit so it's not too out there. Belysxh had good suggestions @Belysxh you should go look at http://homestuckcosplayhelp.tumblr.com/ and ask them for help @Number XV Cheap Akatsuki cloaks are usually in bad quality. When getting cloaks for an Akatsuki or Org. cosplay you have to be willing to spend a lot of money for a GOOD quality cloak. also wheee i finished the front of my Gamzee pants! I used acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium and it came out lovely now as for my gamzee wig, it needs some styling i'm thinking of cutting the bangs a bit, styling it as messy as i want it, and then using just a bit of hairspray to keep it that way good idea? this is the wig with my just messing it up a bit the bangs at the front are long because it's actually meant to be like a zexion styled wig haha
