I'm in the process of making my Demyx sitar!! So I've got the top bit done, I need tips on how to put together the main body of it. Any ideas?

To be perfectly honest, I haven't watched that many animes, and I don't usually play video games, so my cosplaying options are fairly limited. xD

I'm trying to find someone to cosplay as (Already going as Yuna in her FFX costume) that has a... well... appropriate costume. Most of the characters I'd like to go as really aren't wearing things I would dare wear. So.. yeah. xD Any ideas?

@roxas-rei

Try searching YouTube a bit, there are definitely tutorials for that type of thing on there. Just pick the one you think it's easiest to follow. (:

You could always cosplay stuff from regular TV shows! Or even cartoons! You can cosplay anything really!

I want to go as Kaylee (from Firefly) in the dress she wore for the Shindig episode.

My Dad's going cosplaying as Jayne (who, despite the name, is actually a guy xD) and knows a lot about the series. He said for such a short-running show, it's got a huge fanbase, so I was expecting SOMEONE to sell her dress. I can't find anything though, and I can't make her dress by myself, and my Dad wouldn't help in a million years. So would it be on eBay? (not allowed on eBay, so I can't check xD) Or is the only option really to make it?

Or, if that's not possible, I was considering just wearing hear plain jumpsuit, but I can't for the life of me find a shirt that looks anything like the one she wears underneath.

So, yeah, any help? xDD

Does anyone know how to sew wefts into wigs?

I'm planning to cosplay the Disciple and well

This is her

I'm worried about the wig the most

so I already know what I'm using as a base

This particular beauty

Now someone teach me where I can get wefts and how to sew them into this

I believe I've seen a Cloud wig styling tutorial which includes sewing wefts into wigs, do you want me to dig it up?

You can't

I meant edit not like dress on it

That's basically impossible if you mean like editing yourself to look like a character

especial with WMM

also that's not cosplay if you don't dress up yourself

For the Con I would have to make the marks on my forehead with black eyeliner,if not, look for black face paint and paint them on.

So,what do you guys think?

I actually really like how your wig came out. spiky wigs usually look like crap, but your's looks pretty good~

unrelated: i've been planning on cosplaying female!Shion using this outfit and this (pic NSFW, she's on the right). 1 question though: does anyone recommend any good costume make-up for her scars/how to apply it correctly? i've been hunting around, but I haven't found anything useful.

@Madotsuki

Thank you, though the wig I did not make, nor cosplay,I orderd it from cosplayhouse.com. They're the true master creators of just piece. Only thinng I made myself was the prop.

And for your idea I would suggest body paint, and a paint brush,if its dificult to apply it yourself, you can ask someone to apply it on for you, like family or a friend.

this has been dead far too long

hi im jake

  • 2 weeks later...

guys, so I just figured something out~

I already have my Yuna cosplay costume, I've just got to order her necklace.

But her staff is $190 online

so I decided I'd make it myself, but all of the tutorials involved fancy woodworking, and if you're not a carpenter or know an expert one, there aren't any good tutorials to follow

I got a standard IPSC target out of my garage (I'm an avid shooter, so I just have those. You'd probably have to go buy one, but they're only like a dollar.) My Dad did most of the math xD this is the staff I'm making Posted Image

You need these measurements to get it perfect. I'm basing these off of a 5 foot tall staff, and the measurements will be different if you choose a different size.

The headpiece itself should measure 12 inches tall and across. The 3 small inner circles should measure about 3 inches across. The circle where the staff attaches should be the same size as the smaller circles above it, except widened by one inch, where the blue outer circle is. On the left spike, the edge facing away from the others is 4 inches, at a 120 degree angle. The inner side is a 90 degree angle, that is 3 inches. The top spike should be 3 inches on either side. The right one is the same as the left, just backwards. The 4 inch side should be facing away from the rest of the spikes, and the 3 inch facing them. The two lines coming down connecting the top spike and the middle small circle are 5 inches. You may have to do a little free-hand here, but I used a protractor. I kept moving the curve so it didn't turn out as a half circle. The two small triangle-things between the three small circles and the circle where the staff is attached can be made using a ruler at whatever size you deem correct. It varies depending on your reference pictures. Now, I'll warn you, you may have to make slight adjustments along the way, because the staff's angles are off. Apparently Square Enix didn't design this for cosplayers. xD The imaginary line drawn from the left spike down goes a different route than the right one, when in theory they should meet in the same place. The inner part of the huge circle the spikes are attached to should be 11 inches.

Supplies:

Yellow and blue paint.

Red sports tape

PVC pipe 4 feet tall

brass rings (should be at Home Depot)

A bell and string

2 IPSC targets

3 cardboard IDPA/USPSA targets

Glue

Protractor

Ruler

Pencil (DON'T use a pen)

Procedure:

Use the above measurements to sketch onto one of your thin IPSC targets the design of the headpiece

The weird looking shapes in the sides will fill themselves in as you work

Correct anything you think looks wrong on the second IPSC target

Cut out the circles and weirder shapes so you have the design as you want it to look when it's done

Use it as a template to draw the same design onto the cardboard IDPA/USPSA targets

Once you've drawn it onto all three of those targets, cut them out and glue them together.

Paint it yellow and blue and in the appropriate spots

Cut a spot big enough for your PVC pipe to fit into the lowest circle and wedge it in, then secure it.

Paint the PVC pipe sticking out blue, and at the bottom red part, wrap it in red sports tape to give it texture. It's also because if you simply painted it red, the more you touched it, it would flake off.

Slide brass rings up to their spots and secure them

At the bottom, put a brass cap on.

Drill a small hole into it

Thread your string through a bell, then put the string through the hole and tie it off

TA-DA!

I guess I'm not the greatest at explaining, so just ask if you don't understand some of it xDD

I need some help. I want to cosplay Snow White, but I cannot for the life of me find a not-crap wig. I've tried curling my hair before and they always fall out quick, so I need a wig. And if someone knows where to find a good looking Snow White cosplay dress that would be helpful too. I've already found one, but it's almost $200, but I guess that's what you get when you want one that looks good.
