tutti frutti. I was watching the clips of the series, mostly just to take a guess as to what to expect for the future, and the idea on passing the keyblade from one individual to another was bothering me. From what I have noticed, and I could be wrong, that in BBS when Riku and Kairi making contact with a keyblade pretty much enables them to use/wield/summon the keyblade (besides having any of other qualities in order to use it). I point this out mostly due to Sora handing the Keyblade to Jack Sparrow in KH2. Since Sora more or less handed the Keyblade to Jack, despite it going back to Sora, wouldn't Jack be able to use the Keyblade in the same manner as Sora, Mickey and the other major keyblade wielders are able to? Assuming Jack HAS the other qualities that make up a Keyblade Wielder, would you say that Jack could be able to use the Keyblade in the future, more so if he returns to the series?

Sure, Jack could wield a keyblade if he leaves his world and joins Sora in the main story of KH, but seeing as though he won't be part of it and will be sticking to the role of his world's story....no, not a chance, never gonna happen. Plus, Sora "has to be a master and if he had the suitable power like Terra" at the time when he did it to Riku, then it would work, but Jack also has to have the requirements.

No. First of all, Sora didn't hand it to Jack, he took it. Also, if that was the case, Leon would also be a wielder. Anyone can hold a Keyblade without becoming a wielder, however in order to become a wielder, you must have a strong enough heart, or have it passed down to you. Terra passed his on to Riku, while Sora had a strong heart thanks to Ven. As for Kairi, she isn't a true Keyblade wielder, she can use one but can't summon it. One has to be handed to her. Just because you touch a Keyblade doesn't mean you'll be a wielder.

To be honest, this is an area widly disscussed and we don't have an answer. There just isn't enough evidence on the Keyblade ceremony. In my own belief, Leon has the ability to use a Keyblade, but chooses not too or does not know how to summon it, since it's unclear how a person knows how to summon a keyblade after they earn the ability, shown by how Riku didn't use his for like 10 years and Kairi's the same.

As for Jack, well, I believe that cutscene was there to be a little forshadowing. Showing people a little sneak peak of how the Keyblade ceremony is done. To be honest, he could well be a Keyblade wielder, but I doubt that Noruma would make anyone, who isn't a KH character be able to wield a Keyblade.

Nah, some people say, "everyone and their grandma can use the key blade" And although I disagree with that, cuz only the main characters can, (there's really only lke 10 people) I don't want it to come to that.

Azure Flame sort of touched on this; I’m going to go into full detail about it. You have to be a Keyblade Master to perform the Rite of Succession on someone. This has already been confirmed by Nomura. The only reason Terra was able to pass the Keyblade onto Riku was because he had the qualifications of a Keyblade Master. Master Eraqus just refused to make him one because he hated the darkness. Sora’s not a Master (yet) so he was unable to give Jack or Leon the power.

Also, as Azure Flame said, Jack and Leon sort of stole the Keyblade from Sora. Also, they may not have had strong enough hearts to wield one.

However, I actually do believe Kairi is a true Keyblade wielder. I just think that Riku had to show her she had one. Let’s not forget that Nomura says that Kairi has a Keyblade. Not that she’s burrowing one. Let’s look at some evidence as to why/how Kairi could have become a Keyblade wielder when Jack and Leon didn’t.

1. As already mentioned, you have to be a Master to perform the Rite. Aqua was.

2. Kairi might have had a strong enough heart whilst Jack and Leon didn’t.

3. Kairi and Aqua were both touching her Keyblade. I think this might be needed for the ceremony to work. Terra and Riku both held onto Terra’s Keyblade. Notice that Sora wasn’t holding his Keyblade when Jack and Leon were?

4. Aqua wished to protect Kairi at the moment. Perhaps the Keyblade thought she meant that she wanted to protect Kairi by giving her the ability to use the Keyblade. Actually, the spell Aqua put on Kairi could have contributed to this as well.

5. Kairi is a Princess of Heart. Since she has no darkness in her heart, maybe the ceremony doesn’t have to be as exact for her. The Keyblade, you would think, would automatically give her the power because of her strong heart.

6. It could be like Final Fantasy VIII. Sorceresses, in dying, gave their power to someone else. Maybe the Keyblade, in meeting a worthy candidate to wield it, will automatically give someone the power. Automatically choose a successor.

7. You can’t deny there’s a destiny thing between Aqua and Kairi. It’s the same for Sora/Ven and Terra/Aqua. I believe Kairi was meant to be Aqua’s successor. I doubt the Keyblade would let Aqua’s fear of giving someone the power get in the way of that.

8. I doubt this has anything to do with it, but I’ll throw it in here because some people believe it. The flowers that Kairi gave Aqua are what made the Destiny’s Embrace Keyblade. At the very least, maybe Kairi can wield that Keyblade because of that. This could be proven by Aqua saying, “Kairi… Something tells me I didn’t run into her by accident.”

9. Maybe age has something to do with it. Maybe you have to be relatively young and grow with the Keyblade.

Now, I’m not saying that this is a sure thing. But to me, the evidence seems to point to Kairi being a true wielder. There were definitely things lacking in Jack and Leon’s experience that could have kept them form attaining a Keyblade the way Kairi did.

Edit: Here’s one more.

10. After the Keyblade War, the number of Keyblade wielders was severely reduced. I think the number of people that could wield a Keyblade was reduced, as well. Once again, maybe in recognizing Kairi as a worth candidate, this caused the Keyblade to automatically give her the power.

That does make alot of sense, though personally I hope she doesn't become a Keyblade Wielder. She just doesn't seem like she'd be a good fighter, especially from what we've seen in KH2. However there is one thing you missed. Technically, MX made Terra a Master after he defeated Braig, calling him 'Master Terra'

Terra wasn't awarded the title of master by his master Eraqus, so no matter how much Master Xehanort flattered him, he's not a master.

Xehanort is a master, correct? So surely he'd have the ability to bestow the title to others?

Exactly.

If that was the case, then it would have been confirmed, but it's not. No matter how much Xehanort flatters Terra by calling him "Master Terra," he is not a master, which was confirmed.

It's also been confirmed that only a Master can perform the Rite of Succession, so explain how Terra did it on Riku unless he was a master.

I already explained it in my first post. It's in quotations, which was also confirmed.

Yep, I'm pretty sure Kairi's a real keyblade wielder, and I'm sure the ceremony can only be performed with young kids.

The Keyblade dissappeared from both Jack and Leon after a few seconds, so not anyone can wield one. Only a Keyblade wielder can wield any Keyblade, seen by Kairi, Sora when he vs.ed Roxas, and Riku in Deep Dive.
