I was thinking about the game's name : Dream Drop Distance then something came to my mind .

What if Nomura meant that by dreaming , the distance between the worlds is not far .

I mean what if inside the dream , Sora go to other worlds by sliding or flying instead of using the Gummi Ship , since it's just a dream .

Which means : maybe Nomura mean by drop as break , so it means the Distance between the worlds turn from far distance into a near distance by breaking the distance in the dream .

that's a well thought out theory you made there. it makes total sense. Although just to let you know, the "Dream" in the title most likely means that Yen Sid will you the keyhole of dreams for Sora and Riku's Mark of Mastery exam.

we did see a short clip of Sora falling from the sky as a sort of mini game, maybe that's the new transportation between worlds!
