Azure Flame 670 Posted February 29, 2012 The meteor started slowing down. "You're doing it!" Chuck said. "It's slowing down!"
Always 309 Posted February 29, 2012 Mariah could barely understand what Chuck was saying, but whatever it was sounded like positive reinforcement. She could feel Tifa lending her strength as she continued to command the materia. This wasn’t the strength of two, but the strength of four working together: Joy, Cloud, Tifa, and herself. All the better, of course. She sensed the meteor slowing considerably by the second, then halting altogether. She opened her eyes in wonder at what they had just done. That was when the effects of the incredible exertion caught up to her, and her knees buckled. She felt as if she had just been holding the weight of the world, and the relief from the burden was even more weakening than the burden itself.
Azure Flame 670 Posted February 29, 2012 Chuck gently held her to keep her from falling off. "You did great you guys. You stopped the meteor." James had managed to take control back, Sephiroth not being able to handle the pain, as he never experienced pain like that. His end was fairly quick, after all. James remembered a guy he knew who worked with prosthetics and had flown to his house. The guy worked on making a metal arm to replace the one he cut off. Not-with-a-whimper 144 Posted February 29, 2012 August was in awe, but not surprised at the feat that they had just accomplished. He had seen stranger things, after all, like the meteor being summoned in the first place. "You know," he began, "I'm all for figuring out our next move, but I really hope we can do that on the ground. That is, of course, assuming that the "bahemut" guy from before with Caius as an inhabiter doesn't show back up."

Damion Strife 130 Posted March 2, 2012 Marcus looked around and took back over. "Well I guess that's that huh? Everything ended well..." he said calmly. He then looked at his new friends. He never once had as much fun in his entire life, but now he had something. Friends, Vincent, and the whole world was just saved. (They didn't even have to call in Aerosmith or Bruce Willis.) Suddenly a huge claw went straight through his chest, blood poured out of his shoulder, and he heard a slight laugh. "Well, you didn't see that coming did you?" Cain said coldly. He pulled his behemoth claw out of Marcus and tossed him at August. "So, now you've gotten rid of one of meteor..in a week I'm calling down more. Try to stop me, I'll be in Tokyo," he said laughing and took off. Marcus grabbed August's arm and coughed up some blood. "Wha...what is this Vincent? I f..feel so cold..." he said coughing up more blood. "It's ok...just accept your fate, you're clearly dying..." Vincent said sadly," I'll see you in the next life. Face to face." Marcus shook his head and smiled saying,"Just don't hit me for getting us killed ok?" He let go of August's leg and fell fast.
Not-with-a-whimper 144 Posted March 2, 2012 Terror stricken and in shock, August couldn't respond when Marcus was tossed to him and when he grabbed August's arm. As Marcus began to fall, Vaan quickly took over and had Zodiark swoop down to grab Marcus's now lifeless body. "NOOOO! IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO END LIKE THIS FOR HIM! WE'RE THE HEROES, DAMNIT! WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO DIE!" As August held the corpse after shouting, he felt his heart suddenly cold towards Cain. There would be revenge, and he would exact it mercilessly. Azure Flame 670 Posted March 2, 2012 Chuck was shocked at the sight he just saw. He didn't know the guy personally, but he knew that he was on their side. "Bahamut, go after him!" Chuck said, pointing to Cain. The giant dragon few at him, roaring.
Always 309 Posted March 2, 2012 Mariah was completely numb. One moment, she had been on the verge of laughing, overwhelmingly happy over what they had just accomplished, and the next, a friend of hers was killed right before her eyes. Friend...? Yes, though she had only known him a short time, Marcus was her friend. There was something of a unique bonding experience that came from fighting such drastic battles on the same side. Camaraderie. Not to mention Marcus had saved her and Joy's lives before. Yes, all these people were her friends, and of course, Joy was more than that. And what she had just witnessed caused her so much shock that she didn't even know how to react. Her mind was telling her to do a million different things: to scream, to burst into tears, to be sad, to be furious, to simply fall asleep and escape reality for a little while. Et cetera. But she couldn't do any of that, as if her brain had momentarily disconnected from her body. All she could do was stare ahead blankly, unable to process the fact that they were now flying through the air at an incredible speed. She barely even noticed that through all of this, she kept a tight grip on Joy's hand, which, at the moment, was the only thing keeping her from losing her sanity. Jared had watched the entire scene unfold from a distance. James cutting off his arm, the girl and some other guy using James's materia, and finally, Marcus's sudden slaughter. "NO!" he exclaimed. He dove down next to August, whose eyes were clouded with pure rage. Though Jared himself was incredibly saddened, he buried his emotions for the time being and tried to remain rational. They would need to get the body back to Marcus's father. But how would they explain this? Then, he realized there might not be a "they." August looked like he was ready to go after Cain and murder him, and of course, no one could blame him for that. Jared would probably have to do this on his own. He held out his arms toward August to take the body from him. "Let me take him," he quietly offered. "I'll get him back to his father."
Number XV 490 Posted March 2, 2012 (So, Damion Strife, are you dropping out?) Joy was in shock. If anyone didn't deserve to die, it was Marcus. Joy felt Mariah's hand, but it seemed like a long way away. Like in a distant world. It was almost like a fleeting dream...Joy's eyes snapped open. He must have been day-dreaming, almost asleep. He looked over at Calder, who actually looked sad for once. And you know it was bad when Calder was speechless. Joy looked over at the man. "So, where are we gonna bury him?" JesusFreak 41 Posted March 2, 2012 Sara woke up feeling dizzy. "What..what happened? Where am I?" She asked as she slowly sat up. I was asking myself the very same question. Sara frantically looked around for the source of the voice, then froze as her memory came back. Balthier. August, Mariah, Joy, Chuck and the others. James as Sephiroth. Everything that had turned her life completely upside down, came flooding back to her. "Why did I fall asleep or did I get knocked out? Oh my gosh, where is everyone?" Slow down. I barely got one word out of that sentence. Balthier calmly spoke. Sara shook her head and thought, Maybe it would have been better if she had just stayed asleep. Then I wouldn't have to hear Balthier's sarcastic tone. Sara repeated her questions slowly this time, trying to calm herself a bit. That's quite better. Now, I truly don't know where everyone went. We'll just have to go look around a bit, huh? Do you think you're able enough to stand up? Balthier asked her. "I think so.." Sara replied as she weakly stood. "I must have hurt myself pretty badly to have been shaken up this much."

Why'd you kill Marcus off, Damion?! Haha it made me sad... @Number XV: Is Joy talking to August? Because I thought he, Calder, Chuck, and Mariah were all on Bahamut, and Bahamut is currently chasing Cain down. Meanwhile, August is just kind of hovering and taking a minute to mourn Marcus--at least, that's what I took from Not-with-a-whimper's post. It wouldn't be possible to for Joy to talk to August under these circumstances. Also, I don't think Damion would be dropping out, because he still needs to control Cain, unless he's handed the character over to someone else.)
WakingDawn96 1,166 Posted March 2, 2012 Victoria and Paul were arriving in the town, again. Victoria was wide awake, but Paul was still sleeping. While he was sleeping, VIctoria was thinking of her sister Aria. She was thinking about the last time she had seen her, they were performing together on stage, right before Paul made Victoria famous. (Past) Victoria and Aria were at the local karoke club. Aria was of the age 19, and Victoria was 14. They went there every so often to perform so everyone knew them. This would be the last time that they would get to see each other. They went on stage and performed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNKotiEtxRo&feature=channel_video_title When they were performing, Paul came into the place, who was 11 and had a producer dad. He saw Victoria sing and knew that she had talent. When they were done, Aria and Victoria sat down at their table. Paul then came over to Victoria. "Hey there miss. I just heard you perform, and I think you have what it takes to be in the spot light. My father is a producer, would you like to come and be a famous singer?" Paul asked her. She then did a spit take and looked at Paul. "You want me to become famous?" Victoria asked him. "Yes, you may come with me now if you want." Paul said. Aria was worried about this. "Okay, well yeah. It sounds good to me. But what about Aria?" Victoria asked Paul. "Sorry, but she doesn't have what it takes yet, but you do." Paul told her. Aria was then mad, "Its okay, Victoria. Go with him and take your big break, it is okay with me." Victoria hugged Aria, "Thank you, Aria. I will call you when I can." She then walked out the place with Paul. When they were gone, Aria crossed her arms. "Doesn't have what it takes, well I will show you two. Make now mistake about that!" Aria said. (Present) Victoria then came up with an idea. "I better call Sara, she needs to know that we are back in town." Victoria said and waited for Sara to pick up.
Not-with-a-whimper 144 Posted March 2, 2012 (Damion's definitely not dropping out, he's simply taking up the role of the new greatest threat. He will be controlling Cain, who we will need to defeat. August is indeed mourning the loss of Marcus, as he was one of the characters to be with him for the greatest amount of time.) August looked at Jared through tear fogged eyes and handed the body over. "Thank you. Feel free to contact me when you're relieved of your current engagements and I'll tell you where we're at. We'll still need your help, Jared," August said dryly, his voice taking on a cold and detached tone. After Jared had taken Marcus's body, August urged Zodiark forward, spurring it to unleash some of it's hidden strength. It's wings became alight with fire as he rocketed forward towards Cain. He knew it was probably no use, however. Caius could manipulate space and time. What chance did they have of reaching him? He knew these things, yes, but his hate spurred him on, ignoring reason just as mercy had ignored Marcus.

Always 309 Posted March 2, 2012 (Oh, I see. Yeah, Jared was with August, and everyone who was on Bahamut left right after Zodiark caught Marcus's body, so they're all separated now. But I'll make sure Jared catches up with the rest of them soon!) Jared took Marcus's body in his arms. “Of course,” he said solemnly. Before he was able to say anything else, August flew off. Jared hovered there for a moment, looking after August, thinking of the look in his eyes, the distant tone. August wasn't himself right now. Jared just hoped he wouldn't do anything too rash. “Be careful, man,” he said. He looked down at Marcus, who was now lifeless, and allowed himself to shed a tear before taking off. It was so unfair. How could anyone be so utterly heartless and cold as to sneak up and suddenly take someone's life like that? He hoped that the others wouldn't finish Cain off before he got a chance to give him a piece of his own mind. He brushed his face against his shoulder to wipe the tear away, put his emotions aside once more, and flew back to the site where he had been dropped off by the chauffeur so that he could make his way back to Alexandre at the airport. He would probably have to give his soul in exchange for the favor he was about to ask Alex for this time.
Number XV 490 Posted March 2, 2012 Calder stood up. "Ok, what do we do now! We don't know where any of the people are, and James could come back at any time! Why are we even doing this?" Calder slumped to the ground. "I never...even found...her." Yuna. Joy nodded sadly. "We have to. It's...it's our job. We can't let these villians win." Calder looked at them. "You're right...I'm sorry." And then he got his cocky grin back. "And I'm not gonna let anyone else die! Hey, Joy, wanna spar when we land." Joy smiled. "Sure." JesusFreak 41 Posted March 3, 2012 Sara had been discussing with Balthier on where they should go to look for the others, when her phone suddenly rang. She took it out and looked at the caller ID. It was Victoria. "You know, she's pretty good a calling at the right time." Sara told Balthier as she answered, "Hey Victoria! How's it going? Do happen to know where everyone else is? I...uh..sort of just woke up. I don't really remember how I got here or how I was knocked unconscious...but I do remember everyone going after James aka Sephiroth. And that's pretty much it." Sara kept walking, trying to figure out where she was. I must have hit my head real hard. Sara told Balthier in her mind, waiting for Victoria to reply. Not-with-a-whimper 144 Posted March 4, 2012 August had Zodiark rush up beside the Behemoth the others were on. "Hey," he said to Chuck in the same detached voice as before, "it'd be best if we just took this time to rest up from battles and train. We have no idea where he is right now, but we know where he'll be in a week. I, for one, want to be ready." Then, turning to the rest of them, he asked "Who else is with me?" Always 309 Posted March 5, 2012 Mariah’s mind was starting to sort through the chaos. She was able to comprehend what August was saying, and she could also detect the detached tone in his voice that was so unlike himself. She suddenly felt extremely sad for him, because she realized how much time he and Marcus had spent together. They must have been good friends. She nodded in agreement. “Yes,” she said in a surprisingly controlled tone, “I think that’s a good idea. We’re all worn out from fighting non-stop, and if we don’t rest and train for a bit, we might not get very far in the next battle.” She looked at Joy, wondering if he would also agree. Jared arrived in the chamber underneath the airport in Peru, and Alexandre was there within a few minutes. Alex looked at the body Jared had gently laid on the ground, and his face showed a glimmer of worry before going back to its usual, neutral expression. “Something go wrong?” he asked. “Yeah,” Jared said quietly. “I need you to find someone who can get Marcus’s body back to his father and then...make it look like I died.” “And come up with an explanation for why you and the governor’s son are dead,” Alex added through narrowed eyes. There was a pause. “Especially that.” Jared went on to explain everything about the Inhabitors, the battles that had been fought, the ones that still needed to be fought, and Marcus’s sudden death. Alex shook his head. “Wow. That’s going to be a tough one to cover up. You realize that this means you’ll never stop owing me?” “I know,” Jared said. “Just…try to let the governor know how brave his son was. And…how great of a friend he was.” Jared looked down at Marcus’s lifeless face one last time, thinking of how well he and August had gotten along. How hard August was taking this whole thing. “I have to go now. Apparently the next battle will be in Tokyo. I need to catch up with the rest of the party and find out the plan.” Alex nodded. “I’ll see what I can do.”
Number XV 490 Posted March 7, 2012 Joy nodded, his head down. "Yeah, it would be good to train before this battle escalates." Calder nodded. "It would be a great time to show off my skills! Too bad Yuna isn't here." Joy rolled his eyes. "Okay, sure, buddy. Where should we land? At a town, and rent a hotel? We can't, we must have a bounty on our heads, especially as soon as they figure out the whole Marcus dying thing." Calder groaned. "Why do you always have to mess up our plans?" Joy shrugged, "If you want to go to jail, fine by me."
Damion Strife 130 Posted March 9, 2012 (OOC: Clarification time, I felt that Marcus had done his part. Now, all the heroes are together. There is a missle system of defense ready for incoming meteors, and now there is Cain. Marcus, was in fact the most intriguing character I have ever made, but his time had come. Now I'll play as Cain. Since I am a good distance away I'll be able to provide a decent self-struggle with Cain to make the audience some-what simpathetic, but he is a bad guy he will be a fierce bad guy. Poor Marcus...it was fun while it lasted, but I gave him a fitting end.) Cain sat in a noodle shop, he remembered this old place...it was where he first met his master, and where his first kill was. Being a contract assassin brought him a lot of money, and it was actually the only thing he'd ever loved. Staring into the eyes of his victims, usually cold blooded murderers, drug lords, etc. But this time...he'd killed a kid. This was the first time he'd ever killed someone so young, and without any hesitation. That boy could have grown up, had a family, been somebody, and he took it away from him. "Guilt? In your field of work it seems almost heretical...why don't you just forget that useless boy?" Caius thought. "You don't understand...that boy had a future..." Cain thought. "Yes, but that future would have led to death. You simply saved him the wait. Did you observe them?" Caius asked. "Yes, they seem to have been in shock...that means they havent seen much death. They are inexperianced...all just kids..." Cain thought. "Not what I meant you cry baby! They are united now!! They have bonds...we must use these bonds to our advantage. Who would they fear losing most?" Caius asked angrily. Cain thought on this, he thought on it for a while, and then the thought hit him as soon as he went to his twenty-second floor apartment. "The girl would hurt a lot, but I think if they lost that boy Marcus was travelling with, then the behemut boy, and the girl...the others would simply fall out of fear..." Cain thought, "but I don't think I could do it...the...the girl...she's so young. The other two are as well...but I've killed men before. But...but I've never laid a hand upon a woman...I couldn't kill her." "Then leave that one...to me," Caius thought coldly. 1 Always reacted to this
Always 309 Posted March 9, 2012 Mariah lifted her gaze and pointed straight ahead. “Look!” she said. “Japan. We're here.” In spite of everything that had just happened, Mariah couldn't help but admire the sight. It was so beautiful from up there. She had never dreamed that she would experience an adventure like this. Yet here she was, high in the open air atop a supposedly mystical creature, surrounded by new friends...though now they were one short. And there would be another battle to fight. But she hoped that the man who killed Marcus wouldn't stir up too much trouble for a little while, just long enough so they could all rest and train, as August had suggested. “Vincent...I wish you were still here with us,” she heard Tifa say. Mariah now realized with surprise and sadness that they hadn't just lost Marcus, but Vincent as well. She hadn't thought of how Vincent's loss might affect Tifa, and maybe even Cloud. Tifa, Mariah thought, what happens to you Inhabitors when we die? “I'm not sure,” Tifa replied. “I guess we just go back into the Lifestream.” The way Tifa's voice sounded told Mariah it was best not to discuss the subject any further. Jared was now in the jet that he and Marcus and August had been flying in just a few hours ago, nearly ready to take off for Tokyo. Once he was in the air, it wouldn't take him too long to get there. Before he left, he needed to call August and let him know about the situation with Marcus's body, because he figured August and the rest of that group might be anxious about whether they'd be in trouble over Marcus's death. He picked up his phone and dialed August's number, waiting for him to pick up.
Number XV 490 Posted March 10, 2012 Joy tried to contact Cloud. Okay, what do we do? Cloud didn't answer. That was strange. And then a sword struck him in the chest. He looked down at his chest as blood stained his shirt. everything went dizzy, and he slammed his head into something. And everything went black. He felt a sharp pain in his chest as his thoughts drifted. He heard Cloud's voice. You can't die. Is this how strong you are? Joy shook his head. I don't know.
