I've been wondering about this for a while. The X-Blade came before the Kingdom Key and because it has two Kingdom Keys in it's design it lead me think this. That at the end of BBS when Ventus defeats Vanitas and Ventus' heart goes to Sora's, could that have influeneced the way the Sora's Keyblade looks.

 

I'm not saying that Vanitas resides in Sora's heart. I'm saying the X-Blade was formed from part of Ven's heart too, no? So then if what I say is true, why does Mickey's Kingdom Key D look like the X-Blade too?

that is a really good question, well vanitas is ventus but only the darkness from ventus so the Xblade could have something to do with soras kingdom key as ventus went into soras heart, but why mickeys is the same but different colours, i dont know

I got the feeling that at one point they were going to make something out of it as there was leftover data for the kingdom key d, but they scrapped the idea. The relationship between all of this is fairly convoluted. For example, Ventus' keyblade looks like it is related to the kingdom key even before his heart was split. Ten years later, Riku is the owner of the key, but loses it, and Sora gains it, and then Mickey way off in the realm of darkness gets a dark version of it. I think its obvious that BBS wasn't thought of during kh1, and that this is a glaring example of that. Sure there might have had been something to do with Vanitas, but I'm going to say "meh" to anyone's idea on this.

I like to think that Sora didn't get his power as a keyblade wielder from Ven but from some mythical force in the universe connected with Kingdom Hearts (it was destiny, if you will). So then Sora's keyblade would be shaped to the keyblade from the realm of light, and Mickey's the realm of darkness. And then the X-blade is two realm of light keyblades. But, that's just what I like to think. It'll be up to Nomura if he decides to make the connection known.

Well,you know the broken X-Blade,right? It was close to be fully forged. I think,when Ventus was finished with Vanitas,their hearts split up into two and Sora got one half of the X-Blade. Who knows why Mickey has hid Kingdom KeyD.

Well it hasn't been officially said yet, but my theory is that mickey had to travel to the RoD sometime during KH1 to get it. Because he knew that he needed a keyblade from the RoD and RoL to seal the DTD.

I really don't think there is a connection between the the Kingdom keys and the X-blade and if there were it could be explained the the X-blade is forge of a heart of light and a heart of darkness so kingdom key d would still share a connection.

I THINK I understand your question... Well, the part of Heart Vanitas had, probley had remains in the dark realm and formed the Dark Kingdom Key.... seeing how Mickey got that is reasonable... before he got Kingdom Key D, he had Star Seeker... I believe Noruma said that Mickey found the Kingdom Key D in the dark realm... so it sorta kinda maybe makes sense....
