Joint Souls RP

Necessary information:

You can be either a bad guy or a good guy. Good guys are trying to take down an evil guy who summoned a number of "Striders", residents of the Other Realm, a magical world parellel to our own. Bad guys are looking to wreck havoc and defeat the good guys. The Striders he summoned were very beast like. His sister, the only other person able to connect to the Other Realm, used the last of her strength to connect a number of Strider's souls to our world in hopes that they would find humans with souls they were compatable with to join. Her brother did the same to combat her forces. When the Strider's souls connect with a compatable human then the Striders are able to transport to our dimension and the connected human gains enhanced physical ability. They also get either a weapon along with expertise in using it, or a simple magical ability due to being connected to the Other Realm. In times of dire need, a human and their Strider can fuse, becoming more powerful than either individually. Striders must be non-human in appearance and smaller than the average individual. They are supposed to be like a mix between friends and pets. Striders cannot be OCs. Striders can talk, regardless of if their source material can or not (for example, Pokemon).

Backstory, not truly necessary:

There was once a boy and girl, brother and sister, with an uncanny ability. They were connected to the Other Realm, a place of magic, parellel in space and time, in a reality different from our own. They could reach across the gap and communicate with the unique residents there. They were even able to travel to that strange and magical place by connecting each of their souls to the souls of the souls of individuals living in the Other Realm. The two siblings grew up, each with their own ideals, and ultimately found themselves at odds. The sister saw the emotional side of the Other Realm, in that they only way they were able to travel there was by linking their souls with others, and became a teacher in order to invest moral ideals into the modern youth in hopes that it would not only effect our world, but the Other Realm via their invisible connection. While the brother looked into the scientific nature of the Other Realm, he made breakthroughs in science, and strived to find a way to use his mind to bring the Other Realm and his world together. Eventually fame and wealth took its toll on him and he became corrupted. He then organized an event hosting many of the world's elite to come to his lab and observe his newest findings, coaxing them with the promise of wealth and power. It was there that he put his plan into effect, connecting his single soul to the souls of many residents of the Other World whom he had convinced to follow him via the promise of this other dimension to control. The "Striders" as they were now called, due to their striding between the two dimensions, hadn't counted on the adverse effects of linking all of their individual souls to his one. They arrived in this dimension a mere shadow of their former selves, brutes to be manipulated under their summoner's will, while his connection to them gave him access to the magic of the Other Realm. The brother used his Striders to slaughter the world leaders, leading the world into chaos. After discovering this, his sister attempted to stop him, but was overwelmed. With the remaining energy she had, she opened up the Other Realm, and pulled some special souls from it in hopes that they would find and bond with people their souls were compatible with. Upon connecting to a person's soul in this reality, the Striders would be able to bridge the gap to this world with none of the negative side effects that accompanied the Striders linked to the brother. By linking to the Striders, the humans became linked to the magic of the Other Realm, manifesting itself either in the form of a weapon or a special ability in addition to over all enhancing their physical ability. Upon discovering what his sister had done, the brother summoned forth key allies from the Other Realm as well, setting their souls off to link with the souls of humans as to hold off his sister's forces. This is the story of their joint souls.

An army? Sarah slid her chair back, closer to the group. "If if you do get enough people, what then? You can't just attack Vallen head-on."

"Sarah!" Palmon dropped down form the seat, grabbing her partner's leg. "We can't get involved with these guys! Think about Grace!" Sarah glanced back toward her sister, who was occupying herself with Gatomon once again.

"I am." She turned back to Takeshi. "Sonic's right. I know Vallen's got at least one human working for him. We ran into him a few weeks ago." Sarah took aquick once-over of everyone gathered around. "If anyone's going to fight Vallen, they need to be at the top of their game, not only with themselves and their Strider, but their Fusion."

"My lord?" Enkidu was caught off-guard as Cain began do descend the hill. Judging by his trajectory, he was headed into town. Toward the swarm of Striders. "My lord, what are you planning on doing? Those are Vallen's forces."

"I know." Cain picked up his pace, the wolf trotting up beside him to keep up. "And this gives us the perfect oppurtunity to see our enemies in action." The duo got closer, noticing as the red-haired girl and a man with some kind of dog Strider were approaching as well. Perfect.

(OOC: Iamkingdomhearts1000, the rules specify that the Strider must be non-human in appearance and less than 5 feet tall, less than 1.75 meters if you use the metric system.)

Blitz looked over to Serah and said "She's right. This entire time I've been with Sonic I've learned to fight pretty well and work with him to get things done, but we've only ever fused once, and that was a bit of a fluke. If we're gonna take Vallen down, we'll need all the power we can get. Never before has anyone had such unrestricted access to the magic within the Other Realm as he does now."

Gwen rushed up to Zero's side, taking notice of the mask he eternally wore, but not questioning it for the moment. Escavalier followed closely behind. "Don't worry, we're here to help!" she called to him.

"Great, now I'll have to look out for these guys as well," said Zero to Absol. Absol shook his head and sighed.

"Well at least they mean well," the strider voiced, trying to look on the bright side of things, a challenge, given their current situation.

Zero then turned to face Gwen. "Look, have you guys even learned how to fuse yet?" he asked. She looked at him with a confused expression. "Figures," he retorted, clenching his teeth beneath the mask. "Look, striders come from the Other Realm, right? A place of magic that allows them to do what they do and which has gifted us with our abilities through our connections with the striders. Since our souls are compatible and we come from different plains of the same reality, a human and strider pair can fuse together, gaining abilities greater than either has individually. It puts a considerable amount of wear on the body, though, but when necessary, it's worth it."

Turning to face Absol he said "Time for us to give a little demonstration." Absol nodded, and in a burst of light and magic, the two forms were replaced by the one fusion, his large, gleaming scythe the very visage of death. "Now, time to take on an army!" the fusion shouted, the voices of both Absol and Zero ringing out. Gwen was stunned.

Alaster saw the burst of light through a window in the pub, "What was that big flash goggle head?" Tao asked, "I don't know, lets go see," Alaster answered, "Hey, something's going on outside," he said, calling to the others. Alaster ran out through the doors, catching sight of the mass of Striders advancing towards the pub.

Fang stood surprised, but then snapped into action. "Alright Growlithe let's show them what we can do!!!" Fang yelled. He and Growlithe ran forward, they split apart from eachother right upon hiting the wall of striders, and made a V formation. Once they got behind the striders they turned towards eachother, ran side by side, and then stopped. "I got six how many did you get?" Fang asked. "Well about twelve.." Growlithe replied. "Damn, there's so many of them!!!" Fang whispered, "Alright Growlithe, plan B. We cut into the center and fight back to back." "That sounds like the stupidest idea in the history of stupid ideas...but ok!" Growlithe shouted. The two bolted into the center and began fighting there.

Drake hopped up and down. He then bolted outside and said, "Wow!! There's a fight over there! A freaking big one!! Let's go too Spyro!!" Spyro nodded and the two bolted straight for the gigantic army.

Meanwhile. Wreck's group, having recieved new orders turned their sights south west. "So, there's a town full of rebels huh?" Shade asked. "I'd say patriots. I mean...we are the bad guys girly," Wreck said with a grin. Haunter and Stealth Elf nodded, but that struck Shade as absurd. "No, they are the bad guys! Lord Vallen is cleansing the earth from the evils of man!!" she yelled. "Alright, whatever, lets just get going that way before those patriots...rebels...whatever get gone. Ok?" Wreck asked. Shade nodded reluctantly, and the group began heading for the town.

"What fool is starting a fight right in the middle of a city!?" Takeshi said, running out with Guilmon. "A big fool probably Takeshimon." Guilmon said. "This can't be good." Takeshi said, following the others.

(OOC: Iamkingdomhearts1000, the rules specify that the Strider must be non-human in appearance and less than 5 feet tall, less than 1.75 meters if you use the metric system.)

OOC: No one uses the metric system. It's like asking for your change in wooden nickels.

"Come on, we have to-" Sarah stopped, falling back into the chair. That last fight had taken too much out of her. Palmon climbed up into her partner's lap.

"You stay here! You're in no condition to fight." The Strider pushed Sarah's shoulder back, pinning her to the seat as she tried to get up again. "There are a lot of people out there. They'll be fine!" Sarah hated the thought of those people risking themselves while she stayed in here, but there didn't seem to be many other options. But...

"Where's Grace?!" She asked, pushing Palmon to the side as she frantically looked around the room.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Gatomon asked as Grace ran down the street, her Strider pinned in her arms once again.

"Sarah protected us earlier, so now it's our turn!"

"But you don't have a weapon." Gatomon pointed out, hoping to deter the girl's resolve.

"We don't need one." Grace stopped just outside of the battle. "We'll use the Fusion." The idea wasn't exactly what Gatomon was hoping for, but if her partner was hellbent on joining the battle, the Fusion would at least ensure her safety.

"Fine, but when Sarah gets angry, this was all your idea." The Strider began to glow, the light consuming Grace as well. When it died down, Silphymon stood in their place.

"Alright!" The combination of Grace and Gatomon's voices shouted. "Let's go!"

"Leave the fighting to me, okay?" The voices may have been one, but Gatomon expected to be the lead in this. They leapt into the fray, "Static Force!" Silphymon fired a beam into the crowd, the pink laser destroying any Striders in its path.

Cain finally reached the battle, striding into it without a secind thought. "Enkidu." The Strider nodded, vanishing with a burst of golden light. The light shot from the Strider's position to Cain, the human grabbing the power. It stretched, solidifying into a golden sword. The sapphire inlay radiated in the blade's own light, the golden aura alone overwhelming the Striders around him. Cain lifted the sword above his head. "Knaves! Your king has arrived!"

He brought the sword down, a wave of golden light shooting into the crowd. It obliterated everything in its path, pulling Striders who were just out of reach closer in before exploding. The attack spanned a good dozen meters (<-?! Metric system!!), the stretched pillar of light reaching for the heavens themselves. The power that the attack radiated could only be described as... divine. Cain swung the blade out to his side before cleaving through another Strider with minimal effort.

"Crap, this isn't good." Takeshi said. "This fighting will surely draw Vallen's attention, not to mention kill many innocents." He hopped up to the top of a building and shouted "Striders and humans, cease your fighting, lest you kill more innocent people!"

(OOC: I never really specified what my claws were, like it I can grow claws or if they're a weapon. My claws are like bladed gloves just to be clear)

Alaster had wasted no time in attacking the horde in front of him. With claws ready he and Tao cut down anything in their path. A bigger flash caught his attention, he turned around to see a golden wave of light, wash over most of the battlefield before an explosion occurred from the light's suspected origin. It was a sight of wonder and horror, "What was that..." Alaster asked quietly, the light died down, and he soon found his answer. He saw someone with a golden sword, and without meaning to, Alaster looked him dead in the eye, making his presence known to his enemy. He may not want to fight against someone with such terrifying power, but he's going to have to now.

"You kidding me bro?" called out Blitz to Takeshi as he kicked a strider into the air, followed by Sonic spinning down on it to defeat the enemy. "Who do you think sent all of these striders? Armies like this don't pop out of no-where! Vallen knew about the gathering and sent these forces out to try to take us down!"

Absol Zero called out "I'm surprised that he didn't send his own men after us. Who knows? Maybe these are just a warm up and his human/strider pairs are coming for us later." With that he cleaved a large strider in two with his scythe and leaped into the air, launching a blade of wind down below him.

Their numbers were dwindling, Gwen noticed, and so she attempted to take some of the last few out. Escavalier charged forward, energy jetting out from the back of his arm lances. Gwen, however, rarely thrust her lance, using it more as an over-sized baseball bat. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the brilliant shining light and turned to face it's owner, praying that it was an ally, and not an enemy.

Chop Chop ripped through the battlefield, slicing through enemies with a vengance and guarding when need be with his shield. He would even on occasion use Bramble Vines to strike groups of enemies with vines made of bone swarming from the ground. Necro stood back, however, having no offensive power. When a strider managed to get to his position, Necro covered his face with his hands, confident that he had reached his end. He was surprised when a pale white light shot out of his hand and slammed into the strider, knocking it to the ground far away.

"Then try and lead them out of the town, we're here to defend the people, not kill them in battles against Vallen's men." he said. He raised his hands and flames popped up in an attempt to seperate the townsfolk from the fighters.

"Good call," shouted Absol Zero to Takeshi, after which he rushed through the remaining enemies, ending up facing away from town from them, having inflicted minor wounds on them all as he passed as to draw their attention towards himself.

Takeshi made the flames move toward the battlers in an attempt to push them out of the town. "Let's just hope this works." he said. "It'll work Takeshimon, I know it will!" Guilmon said, rooting him on.

Cain caught Alaster's eye, his wicked grin cutting sharper than his blade. "So even the peasants have come out to play." He let out a piercing laugh, swiping Excalibur through another Strider. The creature dissolved on impact, the surrounding enemies crippled by the sword's radiance. Enkidu may have no fighting ability himself, but his special abilities more than make up for that fact. With one more swipe, another golden wave cut through the crowd, the divine power overpowering everything around it. "Is this it, Vallen?! Is this all you give me to work with?!"

OOC: Silphymon's male in the series, but I'll refer to him as "her" in reference to Grace, just so there isn't any confusion. And don't type in the dark.

Grace's Silphymon shot through the Strider army with lightning speed. Sarah may have the strength in the group, but together with Gatomon, Grace definitely had the technique. Silphymon skidded to a halt, power radiating around her. "Astral Laser!" The pink aura dispersed, energy duplicates shooting out in all directions. She let out a powerful cry, the duplicates fading out.

This was great! Sarah never let her fight, and this was the perfect opportunity to let it all out. Unfortunately, she may have been overdoing it. Silphymon took a staggering step, regaining her composure as another Strider charged toward her. It was easily twice her size, and maybe even three times her strength. Silphymon dashed into it, lifting the creature over her head. With a might shout, she threw it into the melee, charging energy into her grasp. "Static Force!" The attack ripped through the giant Strider, its remains vanishing. She took another unsteady step. At this rate, she may be out before the fight was even done.

"Hey, do you think we could act as a diversion too Spyro?" Drake asked. Spyro nodded and said, "For God's sake man! Look at what you've been doing this entire time! You're big loud and obnoxious!!!" Drake smirked and replied, "Yup, just like any American boy! Alright it's time to get these losers out of here!" He ran up behind them and screamed, "WHAT'S UGLIER THAN A TWO FACED RATTLESNAKE WITH A BAD CASE OF EXLAX OVERDOSE? THE OUTCOME, THAT LOOKS KINDA LIKE YA MOM!" Spyro slapped his forhead, and the two of them bolted over a hill.

Blitz and Growlithe were in the middle of a combo when it happened. "What the Hell is that idiot doing?" Fang asked. "Probably trying to lure the striders over the hill and away from the town," Growlithe said bluntly. The two shrugged and continued fighting.

Wreck's group was nearing the town. Haunter then stopped them and said, "Alright, our targets are just to the left. I just heard one of them yelling like a maniac. He was trying to tell a joke to get them angry...but it was kinda lame so depending on their level of intelligance they may buy it...or might not. Still we have our direction." Wreck smiled, it was about time he got to do some hurting again...

Alaster was blown back by the sheer force of that golden blade. Tao was reeling from the bright light that engulfed the area, "Tao can't see..." she said, rubbing her eyes, "Goggle head what are we gonna do? That shiny guy is mean,". Alaster shook his head, "C'mon Tao, we can't run, even if he is this strong," Tao readied her claws and roared at their new enemy, her enthusiasm lifted his spirit a little, but he still had his doubts. He charged in head first, that sword of his would annihilate him and Tao and the fact that it sends waves of light made things no better. Alaster veered to the right, pulling back his left arm to swipe. Before Alaster reached his target, he pulled his arm back more, sliding past him, then with a spin, Alaster and Tao, mirroring each others movements perfectly, went to slash his his exposed backside

(Basically just a lot of fighting.)

Blitz and Sonic finished the last two remaining uncontrolled striders on the field and turned to face the two guys who had recently shown up. Who was the scary looking guy with the ghost as a strider, and what about the dude with the crazy powerful sword? He didn't know what to think, but if his luck held true, they probably weren't friends. Honestly, how could he have expected to have made this many allies in a day without making enemies to boot?

Zero and Absol dropped out of fusion mode, both landing exhausted on the ground, panting heavily. It would be a bit before they could contribute once more to the field of battle, but they had accomplished what they needed to do.

(I felt as though the story needed to move past the continuous fighting against faceless creatures and onto more interesting topics. Also, evil characters are allowed to be in general more powerful than good characters due to the relative lack of numbers.)

someone waas walking towards the others after the fight, he wore a long black, leather trenchcoat similar to the matrix, and had sunglasses on. "Huh, guess i missed the party, unfourtunate." he said. he then looked behind him, then at his strider. "What do you think Silver, did we loose 'em?" he asked. We should've, i'd hate to run into them again Lucas. Lucas nodded then looked back towards the others. "Name's Lucas......telekenetic, this is Silver....my strider." said Lucas.

Cain vanished, as if an illusion. He reappeared in a flash, as if in the gleaming light of his sword. With a wide grin, he lifted the holy blade over his head, the twisted glee in his eyes piercing Alaster. If one of the curs was begging for death, who was he to deny him?

"My lord." Enkidu cut in, Cain stopping in his tracks. "The Striders are nearly finished. Now may be a good time to-"

"Shut up." Cain lowered Excalibur, the sword's radiance never dimming. "I don't need anyone telling me what to do. Although..." He took a glance around him. "You may be right." Cain turned back to Alaster and Tao, Enkidu reverting back to his Strider form. "You lucked out, knave. May you be so lucky next time. Enkidu." And with that, Cain simply vanished.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Silphymon jumped back, the remnants of the enemy Strider melting off of her hands. There didn't seem to be anymore...

Grace and Gatomon seperated, the girl squeezing her Strider to her chest. "We did it, Gatomon!" The cat gasped for air as Grace leapt up and down. Sarah would be so proud of her! Grace stopped jumping, her head spinning. Maybe she overdid it a little...

But all of the people from the bar looked like they were fine too. and there was even someone new! Grace looked at Zero, Gatomon eyeing Absol. "Be careful, Grace." The Strider warned quietly. "Absols are never good news."

  • Author

"Lets go Absol, we've got work to do while the rest develop plans and skills for the upcoming fights," spoke Zero to Absol as he began to walk away from the rest of the group. Absol followed readily, the two of them going off alone to face who knows what from then on.

"Wait!" called Gwen, her voice reaching out to him. "Where are you two going? You guys were amazing, and now you're just going to walk off?"

Escavalier held up a lance arm in front of her, cutting her off. "Fool! Do you not know that Absol is a harbinger of death? He is known as the Doomwalker, his very steps foretelling great disaster. It is his path to walk alone, whatever that path may be."

Hearing this, Blitz was made sad. A strider whose destiny was to walk his path alone, with a boy who wouldn't even show his face? Sonic rushed over to him and smiled though. "Don't worry, it's just that Absol doesn't want anyone harshing his vibes, you know? He's a loner and he likes it that way, so just let him be."

As the two were heading away, Necro went over to them and offered to take away their wounds, and to his surprise he could take away their fatigue as well. With that, they were gone. Chop Chop then stood in the middle of the group and proclaimed, "All those who participated in battle should visit my lord, Necro, for care and healing."

Fang and Growlithe walked over to Necro. "Hey man, all I've got are a couple of scrapes and bruises, but could you take care of Growlithe. He got a bit distracted and took a pretty big punch to the head. He's kinda K.O'd at the moment."

Drake then ran up behind them and said, "I don't need any healing, them suckers got thrashed when they ran at me!" "Only two ran at you stupid..." Spyro said with a cough.

Wreck was now standing on the hill that Drake was previously on, he looked down at the people and their striders, and whispered, "Do you think they fight well?" "Of course idiot, they just took out that entire army!" Haunter replied.

"Pssh, they look like a bunch of weaklings. I vote that we go down there, kick some ass, and then leave them wounded on the ground. What do you say?" Stealth Elf asked. "No...that may be too brash, I think maybe we should pick a fight with them, and then upon observation leave," Shade replied. The group agreed and headed down towards the other striders.

Takeshi saw the soldiers leave and lowered the fire until it was gone. He and Guilmon jumped down and said "Is everyone alright?"

"I'm cool!" Drake yelled.

"We'll be ok soon," Fang said calmly.

"That's good." he said. "We should stick together in case something like this happens again."
