Well For me the most important game in the saga is Birth By Sleep. That is because without Birth By Sleep we wouldn't know what and who started this whole mess.(x Blade, Kingdom Hearts, starting a new Keyblade War, Those who first fought Xehanort and prevented him from taking over the x-Blade and Kingdom Hearts and etc)

358/2 Days has the best story. Though Birth by Sleep is the foundation for the Xehanort Saga, Roxas's story is the most emotional story. I cried after reaching the end of it.

Well I personally think that all the other Kingdom Hearts games are in an alternate timeline to the first Kingdom Hearts

and I'm still waiting a decent sequel to the first kingdom hearts with a less tangled story but more interesting and fun and especially less dramatic whith more romance and.........

BBS. Without it everything would be different. It pretty much set up the series imo.

Kingdom Hearts 1. Mainly because it's the best told story of the series.

Birth By Sleep, everything started there. And we learn how Sora, Kairi, and Riku can wield Keyblades.

I'd say BbS is most important because that is where everything begins. KH3D is second in importance because that is the lead into KH3 and it has answers to questions about KH3.

Birth by Sleep. Definitely. It's what set everything in motion.

While KH1 is my favorite game of the series, BBS and 3D are presently the most important games in the series.  BBS is the origin story of how things came to be and what is to come in the future for the series (particularly the whole Xehanort-Terra and Sora-Ventus-Roxas connections, in addition to what those have mentioned in prior posts).  3D provides the explanations of some vague plot points that have come up during the series (I wasn't a fan of some of the explanations or the time travel mechanic) and connects the series together from BBS to the present

I'd say BbS if it was where everything began except for the fact that, you know, it wasn't. As a prequel it dates before all the other games but also as a prequel almost all its plot points are based on preexisting plot points that would exist BbS or no BbS. 

 

I'm going to have to go with KH2 because for better or for worse it solidified the major plot points for the rest of the series. Like Org.XIII was introduced in CoM but KH2 gave us the Org. as we know it, it set up the plot points that BbS would eventually cover and carry over into KH3, it officially brought in the Nobody concept, etc.
