PROLOGUE:

(A large castle sits in the distance. The remnants of a once beautiful city sit at the foot of the castle. A large group of undead and people, who are still alive, are ravaging the city, killing off the remaining citizens. A group of the undead breaks off from the city rushing into the distance. They are rushing toward a lone woman. She appears to be in her late 30s, early 40s. This woman has short blonde hair, glistening silver armor, and a thin scar on her left cheek. She appears to be war-torn and depressed. She clutches the cross necklace, embracing her neck. She tugs on it, ripping the necklace. Her hand glows with a white light and the cross expands in size. She lowers her hand and a blade extends out of one end of the cross. She glares at the oncoming group of undead. She extends her free hand and releases a flurry of ice. The group becomes encased in ice. She rushes at them and cuts them down, as they are powerless to stop her. Many of the other monsters in the city see her coming and decide to greet her. She doesn’t slow down, ready to end this. She cuts through a few of the first monsters and then starts waving her hand around and mumbling under her breath. A lightning bolt strikes down, paralyzing a large chunk of the army. She continues on, shredding the undead, mercilessly. She appears to have the upper hand for a while, but then their numbers begin to overwhelm her. Undead monsters rise from the group, adding to her problems. One of the undead monsters clubs her in the face, knocking her to the ground. She quickly looks up to see that they’ve surrounded her. But, a flurry of arrows tears through each of their skulls. Suddenly, the woman is scooped up off the ground by a large heavy-set man.)

Woman: Matt! You showed up!

(The woman wraps her arms around his neck, as tears pour down her cheeks.)

Matt: Yeah I did! You should’ve never come here by yourself!

(Flurries of arrows continue to spray down on the undead around them. The woman stops hugging him and he sets her down.)

Woman: I had no other choice, you guys wouldn’t help me!

Matt: Then you shouldn’t have come at all!

Woman: And just let them win, after everything they’ve done! No thanks.

(She turns and picks up her cross/sword. An arrow soars past her head and into the skull of an undead, running up behind her.)

Woman: I can see that Rusty’s here.

(Rusty waves at them, from atop the nearby cliff. He’s a thin, tall guy, with a bow and arrow and a deadly aim.)

Matt: We were worried about you. It seems that we had a right to be.

Woman: Thanks for your help, but it would’ve been nice to know that I had it in the first place.

Matt: I’m sorry. But, this is a big job for just the three of us. Things ain’t what they use to be. What makes you think you can take this guy down, if even HE couldn't?

Woman: …I’m not sure that I can. But, I have to. If I don’t do it now, he’s only going to get stronger.

(She rushes into the city, prepared to face the undead army.)

Matt: Dammit, this is no time to be stubborn!

(Matt rushes after her, helping her take down the undead army. Between the two of them, they make it look like a piece of cake. She slices them apart and Matt punches them in the face, smashing their skulls in.)

Matt: If you think you have what it takes then get your ass over here! You don’t have time to waste your strength on these idiots!

(She nods her head and rushes toward Matt. Matt scoops her up and tosses her toward the castle. She mumbles something under her breath and the castle wall collapses, allowing her to soar inside, unharmed. She lands just beneath a set of spiraling stairs. She quickly makes her way up the stairs, stopping outside a massive set of double doors. She takes a deep breath, as a tear runs down her cheek.)

Woman: It finally ends here. I’m just sorry that it has to end like this…

(She kicks the doors in and readies her sword. She sees a thin silver-haired man clothed in skin-tight black clothes, turned away from her. He is looking out at the city.)

Man: It’s been too long, Eva.

CHAPTER 16:

EXT. THE BRADFORD HOME-EVENING

(Eva, Daniel, Ben, Matt, Jack, and Rusty are all lying on the roof of Eva’s house.)

Eva: It figures that once we all can finally be together again, we all get ripped apart.

Matt: Yeah, but we’ll back, eventually.

(Eva quickly sits up.)

Eva: When, Matt! I need to know when! But, none of you can tell me that! My dad was gone for ten consecutive years and that’s not even all the time that he’s been over there!

(Eva covers her eyes, as she begins to tear up.)

Eva: Besides, what if… what if you guys don’t come back! I can’t bear to lose you, again. Especially, not for good!

Daniel: Eva, you need to calm down. You can’t think like that, or you’re going to make yourself sick. We WILL come back and we WILL be together, again. I promise.

(Eva lies back down and stares at the sky.)

Eva: You can’t promise me that.

Daniel: I can and I just did.

Eva: Are you kidding me? You think you can make me feel better by lying to me?

Daniel: It’s not a lie.

(Daniel sits up and looks at Eva.)

Daniel: I made an oath to the King and our nation. Now, I’m making an oath to you. I WILL return and we WILL be together. So, just calm down and enjoy this next week that we all have together. Because, it will be a while before we have more weeks together.

Eva: If you say so.

Ben: So, I have to stay in that stupid orphanage even longer?

Daniel: Of course, not. We got paid for our last year of training and we got a raise for becoming Knights. I have enough to buy you a place to stay. Besides, I set it up so that you would get 70% of my pay. That way you can feed yourself while we’re gone.

(Ben quickly sits up.)

Ben: Really?!

Daniel: Yeah, what do I need money for? I’m going off to war.

(Ben leaps over Rusty and Jack, tackling Daniel.)

Daniel: Whoa!

Ben: You’re the best brother, EVER!

(The group laughs, but inside they’re all dreading the moment that end of the week arrives.)

EXT. BEN’S NEW HOME-MIDDAY

(The group walks up to a small house and stands outside, admiring it.)

Daniel: What do you think, Ben? ….Ben?

(Daniel looks to his left and sees that Ben has disappeared. He looks back at the house and sees Ben rushing inside.)

Daniel: Hahahaha! I’ll take it that he likes it.

(The group follows Ben inside. Once inside, they see that Ben is running around the house, happy to be out of the orphanage.)

Ben: I love it!

(Ben suddenly stops.)

Ben: There’s an outhouse, out back, right?

Daniel: Of course.

Ben: Good!

(Ben rushes out the back door. The group laughs.)

Daniel: Maybe I should’ve just bought him an outhouse. I’d have saved myself quite a bit of money!

Jack: Hey, now, no need for us to be cheapskates, anymore. We’ve got plenty of cash, now.

Matt: It’s nice, isn’t it?

Jack: I definitely feel like I don’t have to worry about a damn thing, anymore.

Eva: I don’t understand how you guys are so calm, when you have to go to Nethergaia, in less than a week.

Matt: What, we’re going to war?! Dammit, why didn’t anyone tell me!

Eva: Knock it off, Matt. Seriously, why aren’t you guys freaking out?

Matt: What’s the point in getting ourselves worked up over something that we’ve had two years to prepare for? We knew what this meant, when we signed up.

Eva: Yeah, well I wasn’t there when you guys decided to do something so stupid.

Daniel: Calm down. This isn’t stupid. It’s something that we all decided on, because we wanted to do something important. This is the most important thing we could’ve done. Nothing would make us feel better than knowing that we’re protecting the people that can’t protect themselves.

Eva: You’re talking about me, aren’t you?

Daniel: You’re one of the ones we want to protect the most.

Eva: Then don’t do it.

Jack: Huh?

Eva: I don’t want you to do it. You guys are doing this for me; well I’m letting you off the hook.

Matt: You’re letting us off the hook? Haha! We’re not throwing away two years of training, just because you ask us to!

Daniel: Eva, don’t take this the wrong way. I did say that you were one of the people that we want to protect, but that doesn’t mean you’re the only one.

EXT. THE BRADFORD HOME-EVENING

(Henry is sitting on the back porch, drinking. Eva walks outside and sits down next to her father, on the swing. Henry puts his arm around Eva.)

Eva: Dad, do you think that you could convince Daniel and the others to drop out of the war?

Henry: Why don’t you try asking me a different question?

Eva: Come on, don’t you understand that they could get themselves killed out there?!

Henry: I think that I would understand that far more than most, considering how long I’ve been over there.

Eva: I’m worried about them.

Henry: Really, because I am, too.

Eva: Then why won’t you talk them out of it?

Henry: Because, that would be a betrayal to their honor. Two years ago they made that life-changing decision and it would be wrong of me to tell them not to follow that decision.

Eva: I guess you’re right…

Henry: This seems all too familiar.

Eva: Why’s that?

Henry: I recall a certain 8 year old girl who cried and begged me to stay, shortly before heading off to Nethergaia. But, now…that 8 year old girl is a beautiful young woman and I’m not the one that she’s begging to stay.

Eva: Dad…

Henry: It’s okay, Eva. I knew this day would come. It’s only natural that the most important man in a young girl’s life is her father. However, as she grows older he is replaced by another man, of her choice. A father can only hope that the chosen man is worthy of taking his place.

Eva: …Do you think that he’s worthy of taking your place?

Henry: Heheh, I think that he’s well on his way.

(Eva nestles her head on Henry’s shoulder, as he takes a sip of his drink.)

CHAPTER 17:

EXT. SERIAH-DAWN

(Eva, Daniel, Jack, Rusty, Matt, Ben, Lily, Henry, and many knights along with their families, are standing outside of the castle. Eva tears up as she hugs each of her friends and her father, goodbye. Lily tears up, as she kisses and hugs Henry. An intimidating knight mounts a nearby horse.)

Commander Jamieson: Alright, men! It’s time to move out!

Matt: That’s our queue.

(Rusty nods at his friends, before following Matt to their squad.)

Eva: You’d better make it back here, so you can tell me all about those how weak the Nethergaians are!

(Many of the knights raise their swords and cheer, much to Eva’s surprise.)

Matt: You can count on it!

(Matt and Rusty mount their horses and follow Commander Jamieson, out of Seriah. Henry mounts his horse, followed by Daniel and Jack.)

Henry: Alright, men! Move out!

(Many of the knights begin to mount their horses. Daniel reaches down and takes Eva’s hand, one last time.)

Daniel: I’ll write to you, every single day and when I come back, it’ll be for good. This war will be over and you won’t have to watch any of us leave you, ever again.

Eva: Promise.

Daniel: Of course.

(Daniel kisses Eva’s hand and then slowly releases her hand. Henry and his group rush off into the distance. Eva drops to the ground, breaking out in tears. Lily stares off into the distance, not even noticing her daughter.)

INT. ROSSAIRE-AFTERNOON

(Henry and his squad pass through Rossaire on their way to Nethergaia.)

Henry: Alright, men. We’re stopping here for supplies. I expect you all to meet me back here in one hour. We will not be stopping, until we reach our base in Nethergaia. Do I make myself clear?

Group: Yes, sir!

(Henry dismounts his horse and ties it to the stable. Daniel and Jack dismount and tie their horses to the stable. Jack stretches.)

Jack: I don’t know about you, but I got to take a piss break.

Daniel: I’m good. I’ll get us something to eat.

(Jack walks off, as Daniel admires the town that he spent so many wonderful years in. He wanders around for a moment, only to see the merchant that he used to steal food from. However, many years have passed and these years have not been kind to the merchant. He has lost many of his teeth, he is balding, and is now walking with a cane. His shop appears to have worn down, as well. Daniel smiles and walks up to the shop.)

Daniel: How fares business, my friend?

Merchant: Uh, hello. Not too well, sir. I’m afraid that my shop just isn’t what it used to be. I’m sad to say, that I will have to close shop in about a week.

Daniel: Really? A week, you say? That’s unfortunate. I assume that you have a family to look after?

Merchant: Of course! I have two grandchildren. Their father died in the war and their mother died of a common illness. My wife and I are all they have left. It’s hard and now with the shop closing down, I fear that I may not be able to provide for them.

(The merchant closes his eyes, as the tears pour out. He quickly rubs his cheeks dry. The merchant opens his eyes and sees that Daniel has placed a rather large pouch on his counter.)

Daniel: Well, your shop is still open, and I would appreciate it, if you could whip me up a couple of your finest sandwiches. Of course, if it’s not too much trouble?

(The merchant picks up the pouch and takes a look inside.)

Merchant: No, sir! I can’t accept this, this is far too much!

Daniel: Please, I insist. I’m sure that you’ve been through a lot of pain that you didn’t deserve. I want you to take this money and make sure that those grandkids of yours eat well tonight and many nights to come.

Merchant: A-are you sure?

Daniel: Positive.

(The merchant takes Daniel’s hand and begins to cry, uncontrollably.)

Merchant: Thank you, so much, sir! I can’t describe how much this means to me!

Daniel: It’s no problem, really. Just try not to get any tears in the sandwich, you hear?

Merchant: Oh no, of course not!

Daniel: Sounds good!

(The merchant quickly gets started on the sandwiches. Jack walks up, whistling.)

Jack: It’s nice to be back, huh?

Daniel: Yeah, I just wish everyone else was here to enjoy it.

(The merchant peeks out from behind his counter and hands Daniel and Jack their sandwiches. Jack is surprised to see the merchant.)

Jack: Hey! How you doing?

Merchant: I’m good, how about you?

Jack: Can’t complain. Thanks for the sandwich, man. You always did have the best food!

Merchant: Huh?

(Jack places another pouch filled with gold on the merchant’s counter. The man watches in awe, as the young men walk away, enjoying their sandwiches.)

Dear Eva Bradford,

So, this is the seventh letter that I’ve sent you and you know what that means. I’ve

officially been here for one week. Nethergaia’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It’s

a very different place from Benegaia, though. We’re in the outskirts, so many of the people are

still trying to adapt to their new leadership. But, luckily, it won’t be long before we free them

from the enemy’s grasp. I must say, that the Nethergaians have stumbled upon some very

interesting ideas. Just as your father had said before, they have these switches in their houses

and buildings that illuminate the house. This way they don’t have to go to the trouble of using

candles! They also have a room, already built into the house, which acts as an outhouse. They

refer to it as the bathroom, I’m assuming that it’s because they use it to bathe themselves, as

well. Surprisingly, they tend to smell quite nice. The Nethergaians have begun building new

housing and shops within the city walls, and the designs for many of the new buildings are

interesting…to say the least. We have been sneaking in and out of the city, preparing for a raid

that will launch tomorrow. Because of this, I fear that I may not be able to send you a letter

tomorrow. But, rest assured, I will write you a letter detailing how it all went, the very next day.

I miss you dearly and Jack asks that I let you know that he misses you, as well. I can’t wait until

we are all together, again, just like before! But, until then keep your chin up and try to get along

with your mother!

Love,

Daniel Ross

INT. EVA’S ROOM

(Eva is sitting at a desk in her room, crying as she reads this letter. On her desk sits 6 other letters and only 6. Eva had received this letter nearly four months ago. It was also the last letter that Eva had received from Daniel. It was also the last letter that anyone from Henry’s squad had returned to Seriah.)

This really is a great story.I will come back and like after my quota ends xD

CHAPTER 18:

INT. EVA’S ROOM-MORNING

(Eva walks down the stairs and sees her mother on the couch, crying. She stands there for a moment, trying to figure out what to say, what to do. But, she just walks out the door, staring at the ground.)

EXT. BEN’S HOUSE

(Ben and Eva are sitting outside of Ben’s house, while Ben throws rocks.)

Ben: Matt and Rusty are coming home in a few days.

Eva: That’s good to hear.

Ben: Yeah, have you heard anything from Daniel?

Eva: Ben, you know that we haven’t heard a damn thing in four months.

Ben: So? That doesn’t mean that we won’t hear anything.

Eva: They already went to the base and it was a wreck. They didn’t find a single survivor!

Ben: So? They could’ve escaped when the base was attacked. Or maybe they were taken prisoner.

Eva: The Nethergaians don’t take prisoners, Ben. You know that.

Ben: Maybe they escaped then.

Eva: Oh yeah, that makes sense. Of course they escaped and then didn’t think to come back and let everyone know that they’re okay!

Ben: I don’t know, did you ever think that maybe they’re busy?!

Eva: Too busy to let their friends and family know they’re okay?!

(Ben rises to his feet.)

Ben: They’re fighting in a war, Eva! That’s kind of a rough thing to handle!

(Ben sits back down and wipes the tears from his eyes.)

Ben: Unlike you, I’m not going to give up on them so easily.

Eva: Give up on them! I would love for them to come home! But, after four months of not hearing ANYTHING from ANYONE, I’ve got to start being reasonable, eventually!

Ben: If being reasonable means giving up hope that my brother and my friends will come back, then you can keep your reason. I won’t give up on them. Not ever.

(Ben gets up and slams the door shut.)

Eva: Fine! Ugh… See you tomorrow!

Ben: Yeah, you too!

(Eva walks away from the house.)

EXT. SERIAH

(Five knights are making their way, on foot, toward Seriah. Three of these knights are Jack, Daniel, and Henry. They are all filthy, sweaty, and reek of B.O. Daniel’s skin-tight black shirt has a thick bloody stain on the hip area. Despite this he appears to be maneuvering just fine. Most likely, the wound had been received quite some time ago. Each of the five knights is carrying a small stack of books. They reach the entrance of Seriah, which is guarded by two other knights.)

Guard: Commander Bradford, sir?! You’re alive!

Henry: Yes, thankfully each of us is safe. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the rest of my squad.

Guard: That is quite unfortunate. If you would please report to the castle, I’m sure that the King would be pleased to see that you are safe.

Henry: Of course. We have quite a bit to tell him, anyway.

INT. THE CASTLE THRONE ROOM

(The King is sitting in the throne room, speaking to his advisor. Suddenly, Henry and Daniel enter the room. The King looks up and sees Henry. He quickly rises from his throne and smiles, widely.)

King: Commander Bradford! This is a remarkable surprise! We were under the impression that your entire squad had been demolished!

(Henry and Daniel bow before the King.)

Henry: I am sad to inform you that much of my squad was, in fact, decimated. Only four members, other than myself, survived.

(The King sits back down in his throne.)

King: You may rise.

(Henry and Daniel rise to their feet.)

King: Who are you, my dear boy?

Daniel: My name is Daniel, my lord. I am a member of Commander Bradford’s squad.

King: Is there a particular reason that he is here, Commander?

Henry: Daniel is my second in command, my lord. He is the only one of us that actually survived in battle against the Nethergaians. My other three men and I were not present during the battle.

King: Might I ask why that is?

Henry: Of course, my lord. I would be glad to explain.

CHAPTER 19:

EXT. HALFAX-4 Months Ago

(Daniel is sitting at a desk writing a letter to Eva, as many other knights walk, by going about their business. A random knight walks by Daniel and puts his hand on his shoulder.)

Knight: Sir, I’m sure that Commander Bradford and the others have infiltrated Halfax by now. It’s time that we begin the raid.

Daniel: Of course.

(Daniel writes “Love, Daniel Ross” at the bottom of the letter and then folds it up. He puts it in the drawer and gets up from the desk.)

Daniel: Alright, men! Commander Bradford saw fit to name me second-in-command. I will do my best to honor his decision and lead us to victory!

(The other knights bow to Daniel and then quickly rise.)

Daniel: Onward to victory!

(The knights cheer and then follow Daniel out of the camp.)

INT. HALFAX-EVENING

(Henry and Jack are walking through the streets, dressed in robes, in order to hide their armor. They head into a nearby alleyway and climb up to the rooftops.)

Henry: Alright. We need to be ready. Once they lead the assault on the front gates, we need to be ready to attack from the flank. Soon enough, our other two men will join us in battle. For now… we wait.

Jack: Yes, sir.

EXT. THE BASE-EVENING

(Daniel and the knights exit the base, only to see a large group of robed men marching toward them. Daniel and the knights stop, confused.)

Daniel: How can this be?!

Knight: They knew we were here?! But, how?!

Daniel: We can’t worry about that! Onward, men!

(The knights ready their weapons. Daniel and the knights rush in to battle. The Nethergaians continue their steady march, unafraid of the Benegaian knights. The Nethergaians all extend their hands and begin to mutter some odd phrase. Suddenly, the front line of the Benegaian army, bounces off of an invisible wall. Daniel and the front line knights fall against the second line of the army and the front portion of the army collapses. The Nethergaians continue their march, as the Benegaians fall apart. The front lines stumble to their feet. Daniel rushes up and waves his hand in the air, trying to feel for the barrier.)

Daniel: The barrier is no longer there! Proceed with caution!

(The knights follow Daniel toward the Nethergaians. A group of the Nethergaians rushes out of their army and mutter another odd phrase. A wall of dirt rises from the ground. They mutter another phrase and big balls of dirt launch from the wall, knocking member after member of the Benegaian Brotherhood into the ground. Daniel dodges each of the dirt clumps and rushes onward. The dirt wall is eventually used up and much of the Benegaian army has been pummeled into the ground. The lead Nethergaian waves his hand around and mutters an incantation. Daniel is lifted off his feet and sent flying back into the base. The Nethergaians begin a chant and create massive orbs of fire above their heads. The fireballs are launched at the Benegaian army, burning them to ashes. The knights try to dodge the fire, but there is far too much of it. Daniel crashes through a wooden pillar, sitting inside their base. He tries to get up, but he soon finds that a large piece of the wood has pierced his side. He reaches for it and slowly tries to remove it. His blood spews out of his side and he quickly lets go of the wood.)

Daniel: GGGGAGAGAAAAAHAAHAAHHAH!!!!!

(Daniel rolls around, in pain. Blood runs down his lip and drips off of his chin. He watches as his comrades also crash into the base, unable to do anything to help them. One of the Nethergaians walks in. He leans in and looks at Daniel. However, Daniel cannot see his face, behind his mask and hood.) The man uses his sorcery to lift Daniel off of the ground and fling him through the back wall of the base. He mutters another incantation, as the rest of the knights are thrown into the base, as well. He snaps his fingers and a ring of fire rises around him. He steps over the fire and exits the base, as it consumes the broken wood lying on the floor.)

INT. HALFAX-EVENING

(Henry and Jack are sitting on the roof.)

Henry: What on earth is taking them so long?

(Suddenly, Henry sees a fire in the distance. He quickly rises to his feet, startling Jack.)

Henry: No…NO! That’s in the direction of our base!

Jack: What?

(Jack rises to his feet and sees the fire, as well. The two quickly leap down from the building and rush out of the city.)

EXT. HALFAX-EVENING

(The Nethergaian leader exits the burning base and greets his men.)

Nethergaian: They are finished, men. Let us return to Halfax and celebrate our victory.

(The Nethergaians leap into the air and fly back to Halfax. Jack and Henry quickly dive behind a nearby boulder, concealing them from the enemy view. Once the Nethergaians have flown away, the two warriors quickly leap over the boulder and rush to the aid of their defeated comrades. They arrive outside the burning base and watch in horror, as they hear the screams of their dying squad. Jack rushes up to the base, but finds no possible entrance. He hurries around back, searching for an entrance, but soon finds Daniel.)

Jack: COMMANDER! HURRY, IT’S DANIEL! HE’S ALIVE!

(Henry rushes around to the back of the base and finds Daniel, unconscious, with the piece of wood lodged in his side.)

Jack: His heart’s still beating, slowly, but surely!

Henry: I’m afraid there isn’t much we can do. If we try to take the wood out, he’ll just bleed out. We don’t have any doctors around.

Jack: There has to be something!

Henry: I can’t think of anything!

(The two remaining knights come rushing in from the side of the base, carrying a stack of books.)

Knight #1: Commander, what happened?!

Henry: The Nethergaians found us. I don’t get it! How the hell did they know we were here?!

Jack: What are those books?

Knight #2: These are the sorcery books you ordered us to obtain.

Henry: Yes, this way they will have less information to allow them to further their studying of the dark arts.

Jack: Give me them!

(Jack rushes over and grabs a stack of the books.)

Henry: Jack, what are you doing?

(Jack begins rifling through the pages.)

Jack: There’s got to be some sort of magic in here that can heal, Dan.

Henry: You can’t be serious?!

Jack: I wouldn’t joke about saving my friend.

Henry: Sorcery is forbidden, Jack! Do you understand that?!

Jack: That man saved my life! I had no one! No family! They were killed because of this stupid war! If it wasn’t for him, I’m not sure that I would’ve survived! Do you understand that, Commander?! I will not stand here and watch him die, if there’s something I can do about it!

(Jack rushes past Henry and continues to read through the book.)

CHAPTER 20:

INT. THE REMAINS OF THE BASE

Daniel: Jack, wake up!

(Daniel nudges Jack with his foot. Jack bolts up, confused.)

Henry: Come on, we’ve got to get moving, now!

Jack: What’s going on?

(Jack rubs his eyes and quickly gets up.)

Henry: Bandits are coming. We lost most of our equipment and supplies in the fire; we have to get out of here, immediately!

(The five knights rush out of the camp, as they hear the sound of bandits in the distance.)

INT. THE SERIAHN THRONE ROOM-PRESENT DAY

Henry: We had to escape and head deeper into Nethergaian territory. Eventually, we were able to head this way, but we had to go on foot.

King: I see… It would seem that you and your men have been through a great deal of hardships. I will think about what you’ve said. I ask that the both of you return here, tomorrow morning, so that we may discuss my final decision. Until then I ask that you speak of this sorcery business, with no one. Now return home and rest, let your family and friends know that you are okay.

(Henry and Daniel bow to the King and then turn and leave the room. Outside the throne room, the two knights and Jack await their orders.)

Jack: What did he say?

Henry: Daniel and I will further discuss this with the King, tomorrow. Until then, do not speak of our idea, to anyone.

Jack: Yes, sir.

Henry: Alright, I will be heading home for now. If you guys would like to come with me and let Eva know that you are okay, you are welcome to do so.

(Henry walks off and Daniel and Jack follow him.)

EXT. THE SERIAHN CASTLE

(Daniel, Henry, and Jack exit the castle. Much to their surprise, Eva is already walking up to the castle. She sees Daniel and Henry and stops in her tracks, stunned.)

Daniel: …Eva, I…

(Eva rushes past her father and punches Daniel in the face. She quickly hugs him, crying her eyes out.)

Eva: How could you?! How could you let me think you were dead, for four months?!

Daniel: I’m so sorry, Eva. I never wanted this to happen. Things got complicated and there was no way for me to write you.

Eva: I can’t do this, anymore. I can’t just stay here and HOPE that you come home!

Daniel: Eva, I’m not going to quit. I swore an oath…

Eva: I’m not asking you to quit. That’s why I’m here. I’m going up to the throne room and I’m going to talk the King into allowing me to become a Knight!

CHAPTER 21:

Henry: You can’t be serious?

Eva: Of course I am! This isn’t something I would joke about!

Daniel: But, Eva there has never been a female Knight, before. Do you honestly think that the King will let you join so easily?

Eva: I never said that it was going to be easy! But, I will not just sit around waiting like a fool, while you all go out there and risk your lives on a daily basis!

(Eva storms off, entering the castle. Henry and Daniel sigh, hoping that the King will say no.)

Daniel: You don’t think the King will let her, do you?

Henry: I hope not, but he is contemplating changing centuries of tradition and faith in order to win this one war. He may just hear her out.

Daniel: She is pretty stubborn, isn’t she?

(Henry sighs.)

Henry: That’s the way I raised her.

(Henry walks off, ready to go home and see his wife.)

INT. BEN’S HOUSE

(Ben is playing Solitaire in his living room. Suddenly, Daniel walks in, causing Ben to look up. Ben smiles at the sight of his thought to be dead brother.)

Daniel: You surprised to see me?

Ben: Not at all!

(Ben gets up and hurries over, hugging Daniel.)

Daniel: You handling yourself alright? You get enough food, exercise, sleep?

Ben: Yeeeeeahhh, Dan…

Daniel: Hahahaha! What am I getting on your nerves?

Ben: Just a bit!

(Daniel shoves Ben aside and steps into the house, happy to be home.)

INT. THE BRADFORD HOME-AFTERNOON

(Henry and Lily are sitting on the couch, holding each other tightly. Eva walks into the house and stops, as her parents look up and stare at her.)

Eva: …He said he’ll think about it.

Lily: Who said they’ll think about what?

Henry: Our daughter has decided that she would like to become a Knight.

Lily: Hahahahahahaha! You can’t be serious?

(Eva and Henry stare at her, but neither of them is laughing. Lily stops laughing and looks at Eva.)

Lily: There’s no way the King would agree to this!

Eva: I just told you… he said that he would think about it.

Lily: Is he out of his mind?!?! What is he thinking, allowing a woman to become a Knight?!?!

Eva: Who cares if I’m a woman or not?!?! All that should matter is my will to fight for Benegaia!!!!

Henry: Do you have such a will?

Eva: What do you mean?

Henry: Do you have a strong will to fight for Benegaia or are you fighting for something else entirely?

(Eva looks away, unsure of how to answer her father. Henry gets up off of the couch and puts his hands on Eva’s shoulders.)

Henry: You are my daughter and I will support you in anything you do, but only if you do those things for the right reasons.

Eva: Well, what are the right reasons?

Henry: Anything that makes you truly happy. If you are going to fight in this war, you need to make sure that is what you truly want. Don’t just make a rash decision, because you’re upset or confused. If you can wake up tomorrow and still feel the same conviction… then I will happily give you my blessing.

Lily: Henry!? How can you just stand by and watch your daughter be so stupid?!

(Henry lets go of Eva and turns around to face Lily.)

Henry: I’m sorry, but obviously you and I have a different view on what is stupid and what isn’t. I love you, honey, but I love our daughter, too.

Lily: …I can’t and I won’t support this.

(Lily storms off. Henry sighs and turns around, facing Eva.)

Henry: I’ll talk to her. In the morning, Daniel and I have a meeting with the King. After that I will set up a meeting between you and the King. If you are serious about going through with this… then I will put in a good word for you.

(Eva nods and then Henry kisses her on her forehead. He walks off, preparing to deal with his stubborn wife.)

INT. THE SERIAHN CASTLE THRONE ROOM-MORNING

(Daniel and Henry are bowing before the King, awaiting his decision. The King is sitting in his throne, deeply torn between his faith and his country.)

King: …Rise.

(Daniel and Henry stand up and stare at the King.)

King: …I have been up all night mulling this over, weighing the pros and cons, time and time again. If we are to delve into the forbidden arts we may have a chance at winning this war, saving countless lives, and attaining a world-wide sense of peace. If we do not then we will more than likely lose this war and countless innocent lives, as well. However, we would stay true to our faith and our God… I have indeed come to a decision, despite still being weary of the consequences that may unfold, because of this decision. I have decided…

CHAPTER 22:

INT. SERIAH-MORNING

(The citizens of Seriah are conversing, as news spreads of the King’s decision.)

Elderly woman: I can’t believe this! Is the King out of his mind?!?! How could he completely disregard God’s word, so easily?!?!

Young man: This isn’t right! Our Knights are going to burn in Hell all because our King is a fool!

(The citizens begin to congregate outside of the castle, yelling and complaining, unhappy with the new war plans.)

Young woman: WIZARDRY IS FORBIDDEN, HOW COULD YOU FORCE OUR KNIGHTS TO LEARN THE VERY THING WE ARE TRYING TO END?!?!

Young man: THE KING HAS OBVIOUSLY GONE MAD!!!

(The King is standing at the balcony, high above his people. He looks down upon them, questioning his decision. The King opens his mouth, but quickly stops, as someone’s hand comes to rest on his shoulder. He turns around and sees Daniel. Daniel lets go of his shoulder and steps by the King, peering out at the citizens of Seriah.)

Daniel: CITIZENS OF SERIAH!

(The citizens stop and look up at Daniel, wondering what is going on. Henry walks up to the balcony and stands behind the King.)

Daniel: I AM SIR DANIEL, A MEMBER OF THE BENEGAIAN BROTHERHOOD. I RECENTLY RETURNED FROM NETHERGAIA AND I AM THE ONE WHO SUGGESTED TO THE KING THAT WE ALLOW THE BENEGAIAN KNIGHTS LEARN WIZARDRY.

(The citizens begin to murmur amongst themselves, growing increasingly angrier.)

Middle-aged man: WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO DISOBEY GOD’S ORDERS?!?!

Daniel: THIS NEW LAW WAS NOT MADE WITH THE INTENTION OF DELIBERATELY DISOBEYING OUR LORD. THIS LAW WAS MADE BECAUSE WE ARE LOSING THIS WAR AND WE FEAR FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOUR LIVES. MY TIME IN NETHERGAIA HAS CHANGED ME. IT HAS MADE ME MORE AWARE OF OUR ENEMY AND THE POWER THEY POSSESS. IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WE CAN HOPE TO FACE WITH OUR CURRENT ARSENAL. IT IS FRIGHTENING AND WE HAVE TO MAKE CHANGES IN ORDER TO PRESERVE THE SAFETY OF OUR PEOPLE. WE DO THIS, KNOWING FULL WELL THE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR ACTIONS. IF ANY KNIGHTS WOULD LIKE TO DROP FROM THE BENEGAIAN BROTHERHOOD, BECAUSE OF THIS, THEY WILL NOT BE PENALIZED. FOR THOSE THAT CHOOSE TO STAY, I CAN PROMISE YOU THAT WE WILL BE PRAYING TO GOD EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY, THAT HE FORGIVE US FOR WHAT WE MUST DO. WE ARE PREPARED TO SUFFER HIS WRATH AND AN ETERNITY OF DAMNATION, IF IT MEANS THAT YOU ALL MAY LIVE IN PEACE. WE DO THIS… FOR ALL OF YOU. NOW I ASK THAT ANY KNIGHTS THAT ARE HERE WITH US, TODAY, PLEASE STEP FORWARD IF YOU WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT YOUR NATION.

(The citizens look around, waiting for someone to make a move. Suddenly, Matt and Rusty step up from behind the crowd and smile at Daniel. Matt has grown a beard and Rusty’s hair has grown longer. Matt and Rusty bow before the castle, showing their unwavering loyalty. Daniel smiles and looks out at the crowd, as many Knights come forward and bow next to their comrades.)

Daniel: I THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOYALTY AND DEDICATION TO OUR PEOPLE. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THE CITIZENS OF SERIAH MAY FIND IT IN THEIR HEARTS TO FORGIVE US.

(The citizens walk away, some of them content with Daniel’s words and other shaking their heads in disgust. The Knights rise and return to their business. Daniel turns around and sees that the King is smiling.)

King: Thank you, Sir Daniel. I must admit that I was quite frightened at such a dire situation. But, you handled it with honor and dignity. The Benegaian Brotherhood is lucky to have you.

(Daniel bows to the King.)

Daniel: I am happy to be a part of such a group, my lord.

Henry: My lord, now that this has passed, I would like to take a moment to speak with you in private.

King: Of course, Commander Bradford. I’d be happy to hear what you have to say. You are dismissed, Sir Daniel.

(Daniel rises and exits the throne room. The King sits down on his throne and Henry makes his way to the center of the room, preparing to make his request.)

King: So, what is that you wanted to speak with me about?

Henry: My daughter, Eva, spoke with you a few days ago about joining the Benegaian Brotherhood.

King: Yes, of course. It was an odd request, to say the least. As you know, the Brotherhood has never had a female member.

Henry: I wanted to say that I fully support this decision and hope that you give her this chance.

(The King sighs, mulling over Henry’s request.)

King: You are aware of what this means, correct?

Henry: With all due respect, my lord, I know what it means to be a Knight. I know the advantages and disadvantages and I know my daughter. If she still wants to go through with this, then I will do everything in my power to help her become a Knight of the Benegaian Brotherhood.

King: Bring her here, immediately. We will go over the details and I will help her apply for recruitment.

Henry: Thank you, my lord.

(Henry bows to the King.)

King: After I speak with Eva, I ask that you let Sir Daniel that I would like to speak with him, as well. In light of the recent turn of events, I see fit to promote Daniel to a Commander. Do you have anything to say against this?

Henry: Of course not, my lord! If you see fit to promote him, then I see nothing wrong with such a thing.

King: Excellent. You are dismissed.

(Henry exits the throne room.)

CHAPTER 23:

EXT. THE SERIAHN CASTLE-MORNING

(Daniel exits the castle and sees that Matt and Rusty are waiting outside. Jack and Ben walk up, as well.)

Jack: Hey, Matt and Rus are back!

Ben: This is awesome! We’re all finally back together!

Matt: It’s good to be back. That place was a nightmare!

Ben: What was it like?

Matt: The cities were amazing, but the sorcerers were terrifying. I’m lucky to be alive! Those guys could tear apart the ground, create fires, and lift buildings from the ground, all by uttering simple phrases!

(Henry exits the castle and walks up to his ex-recruits. Jack, Daniel, Matt and Rusty turn and bow to Henry, forcing a smile out of him.)

Henry: At ease, men.

(The four of them stand up and relax.)

Henry: I’m going to get Eva, so that she can speak with the King about becoming a Knight. Daniel, the King would like to speak to you, afterwards. Just wait outside the throne room, until he and Eva are finished with their meeting.

Daniel: What does he want to see me about?

Henry: Don’t worry its good news. But, you should probably wait for the King to tell you.

Daniel: Yes, sir.

(Daniel hurries into the castle and Henry leaves the other four young men.)

Ben: So, now that you guys are back, I think it’s time. I’m old enough now, so I’m going to become a Knight and help you guys out win this war.

Jack: Alright, Ben!

(Jack high-fives Ben and then pats him on the back.)

Matt: You sure, you’re up for this? I can tell you right now that this won’t be easy.

Ben: That didn’t stop you guys. I’m not going to let you guys risk your life, while I sit around here and do nothing. I want to kick some Nethergaian ass!

(Matt and Jack snicker, while Rusty smiles at Ben’s random outburst.)

INT. THE RECRUITMENT BARRACKS

(Eva, Ben, and eight others are standing side by side, ready to begin their training. Daniel walks into the barracks, clothed in armor. He is followed by Henry.)

Daniel: I am Commander Ross and I will be your instructor for the next two years. As you all may know, a law was recently passed, allowing the Knights of the Benegaian Brotherhood to be trained in sorcery. This training has been incorporated into the recruitment process and you all will be trained in the forbidden arts, just as often as you will be trained physically. If anyone has a problem with this, please leave now.

(Daniel waits, but none of the recruits move more than an inch. Daniel smiles and steps aside which allows Henry to step forward.)

Daniel: This is Commander Bradford, the legendary Commander that has survived a straight decade in the enemy territory. He will be supervising our training and making sure that I do my part to prepare you for your future struggle in Nethergaia.
