Towards the end of KH1, they went back to HB on Cid's gummi ship after Sora locked the keyhole to HB (or was it before? I forget).When Namine messed with Sora's memories, it messed with the memories of everyone connected to Sora. They forgot him, but remembered him when he woke up in Twilight Town.

Didn't you play Kingdom Hearts 1? After Sora defeated Riku, Sora went back to Transverse Town with Kairi and told Leon and the gang everything that happened in Hollow Bastion. That prompted Leon, Aerith, and Yuffie to follow Sora back to Hollow Bastion to help him defeat Maleficent. Don't you remember that scene in the Library when Leon tells Sora, "we might never meet again, but we will never forget each other." That is kind of important...ish line. After Sora seals the keyhole, Cid (and I think Cloud) come and reunite with Leon and the gang in Hollow Bastion.

I don't know what you mean by the bold....

Sora, Donald, and Goofy were forgotten because of the events that took place in Chain of Memories.

I remember the FF characters in Traverse Town got to Hollow Bastion on Cid's ship some time before the end of the game (but I don't remember them leaving again). Either way they could have just used Cid's ship to get back again

I know they were in hollow bastion , i kinda thought they returned to traverse town , cause everytime i went their(it took me lot of time to finish KH1 because after i sealed hollow bastion i tried to find all dalmatians , all trinitys etc)

I saw them again , and then I saw them in hollow bastion , then in traverse town

so its little bit confusing,

but i kinda thought it was because of that i just needed a 100% answer.

 

anyway about CoM, i know that Namenie(i hate her name) messed sora memories(and doland+goofy when they forgot everything)

so how come the gang forgot about sora too , he's the one that should forget about them.

So she messed up sora memories , so sora forgot them

why they was have to forget him.

To fix the memories of Sora, consequently made all of Sora's journeys be forgotten because they weren't linked anymore.

To mess with memories OF HIM, she messed with everyone's memories.

Well, since even being in Castle Oblivion slowly deteriorates one's memories, Naminè needed to restore them because, well, he's kind of the main character and without him(or some incarnation of him) there wouldn't really be any story. (Cue butthurt fanboys in three... two...) Anyways, in order to restore said memories, Naminè needed to put him in a sleep capsule. The resoration process also affected all of those connected to him. (Xion borrowing the most important ones can't of helped either.) The Final Fantasy gang were connected to him, so they were affected as such. They were able to remember him after Leon reminded them since they weren't as connected to him as, say, King Mickey and weren't as heavily affected. It's kind of like going into your garage for a wrench, but when you get there you forget what you are there for. Then you see the leaky faucet and remember the wrench. Mind, this is coming from some guy that's never played KH1, CoM, or KH2. Sorry about the wall of text, lol.

Seeing them return in Traverse Town was probably just a brain fart....

I didn't remember how they got to Hollow Bastion, and didn't remembered when Leon said that line, but I knew they forgot Sora, Donald and Goofy because of Sora's memories lost in CoM. You can also remember that Kairi also forgot about Sora, remember? The cutscene where she put the bottle with the message on the water?

In essence when Namine messed with Sora's memories she basically made it like he was some dream that everyone forgot about. Kairi had the best memory of him because she was close to him as is Riku but he spent time in the darkness, and Namine probably made it so he wouldn't forget, so that is a possible reason as to why their memories were either not effected or not as severely effected as others.
