So I decided to pick up and play Emerald again (I never beat it to begin with) and it turns out I beat the first 7 gyms. So now it's just the last gym, which if I recall from Ruby, is Water/Ice and then the Elite Four.

But when I went to sort out a good team, I found that I barely had any pokemon in my pc, so not many good ones to choose from. The pokes that I chose were:

Level 41 Swampert

Level 41 Minun

Level 34 Swellow

Level 40 Grumpig

Level 22 Vileplume

Level 26 Aron

Of course I'm gonna train these guys before taking on the next gym or the elite four, but I'm open to catching new pokemon if you tell me specifically which one(s) to catch. So any suggestions or do you think I have a pretty solid team?

Hmm... do you want to keep the pokemon that are high leveled? The Swampert and the Minum I mean.

I'd be fine switching my Minum for something else. The Swampert, maybe, if it's really good, but I'm probably going to keep the Swampert. What'd you have in mind?

You... trained a Minun as your main Electric type?

Anyways, get that Aron up to Aggron and get a Fire-type. I believe I had Rapidash in Emerald... either that, or I'm getting very mixed up. Get a Fire-type.

Lmao, that's exactly what I thought when I turned it on! I was like "A Minun? Really? what was I thinking" lol. It's just, yeah.

Are you saying replace the Minun with a fire or are you saying to leave the minun?

Hmm... Well, like Ansem said, get a Fire, like Camerupt, Magcargo, or Ninetails. Train the Aron up too. You could probably switch out the Vileplume with a Breloom or a Shiftry. Breloom if you need a Fighter, and Shiftry if you need a Dark. As for Minum... GET RID OF IT. A Pikachu can be a better choice, or even a Manectric.

^ Exactly.

I used a Raichu and Breloom (Stun Spore plus Sky Uppercut? Total WIN) in my team. I started with Blaziken (now that I think about it), and had Pelipper to cover Water and Flying.

You'll need Fire, Water, Grass and Flying always, with no exceptions. It's alright if you combine two of them, but you just need all of your bases covered (and not a Minun).

Thanks for agreeing with me Ansem.

Awesome, I think I have a Pikachu (its just pretty low level, but I don't mind), I have a Vulpix, I'm already leveling Aron (i wasn't planning to get rid of him because I like Agron too much), and I can easily find a Breloom. Thanks guys!

And for the record, I don't like Minun either lol.

Am I the only one who likes Minun? It was awesome for me.

But the suggestions above are good :D

Keep your Swampert, he was a top threat in Gen 3.

As for your Minum, I would put him in the box. Catch a Pikachu and train it.

Aggron is always a good adition for any Gen 3 team, train your Aron.

When I played Emerald, I really liked Linoone, since he has Pickup, which can help you, and he can run a Special set, if you want to give a try, I advise you to.

Like Ansem said, Breloom's awesome, put Breloom in your team.

And since you're going to train a lot, you can defeat the last gym, and instead of going to the Pokémon League, you can catch a Bagon and train it, it's gonna be worth it.

Should I keep the Swellow or should I replace it with a level 46 Flygon or a Level 29 Xatu?

Flygon if you're not going to get another Dragon.

Xatu's not worth it in that game (I really liked it in GSC though)

Oh, Xatu's not that good in Emerald? That's dissapointing, I liked it in GSC, too. I'll probably stick with my Swellow then and take your advice and find a Bagon.

Swellow can learn Endeavor and Fly.

You can also use Double Team.
