Yes. It's a good way of giving extra experience for those who block or attack at the right time.

I really liked them it challenged me to work on my defence. normally I am reckless and charge right in and I always take alot of damage! But the tech points forced me to try to block or parry as many blows as I could! Getting good at parrying is how I beat the ice titan!
