KH3D How do I tell if ability's on or off?

I can't tell if the ability link ability is on when it says the circle thing says off or when it shows a star. Not sure if the off means press to turn it off or that it is off.

if it's blue then that means the ability is available. If it's gold with stars then that means it's equipped.

and the only way to equip abilities is to have that spirit in your party right? so theres no Keeping abilities?

There are only two types of abilities you can keep regardless of which Spirit is in your party: the ones that affect you directly (the second section, things like Leaf Bracer and Combo Plus), and the ones that affect Spirits (the third section)
