A Recommendation Or Two, Please....

Posted

Now, recently, I've been wrapped up in a little Final Fantasy issue....however, I'm proud to say I have looked past it. And to further show that I am more friendly to the FF series, I'd like to ask YOU...the Final Fantasy fanbase (because I know some of you are around here. There wouldn't be Kingdom Hearts without Final Fantasy, anyway...), a question.

Since I'm more or less a Final Fantasy n00b, sorry to say (I have played part of XIII and the demo for X, though)....I'd like to get some recommendations from you guys to help me get comfortable with the series...because believe me, once I play a couple of games in the same series, I get intereseted....very interested. In fact, 1 or 2 really are the magic numbers when it comes to that. It's how I got into Tekken....it's how I got into the Batman Arkham Series....as well Kingdom Hearts, mind you. But....you already knew that didn't you? (nudge-nudge, wink-wink)

So, lay it on me. What Final Fantasy titles are the best out there right now and how can I get my hands on them?

(I have a feeling this might be moved, so if it does, that's fine. It's hard for me to figure out where some of this threads are supposed to be filed under.)

Honestly it depends on what kind of story interests you. I love romances so FFVIII was brilliant to me. VII is full of action. X is just a well balanced story/game all round. V is pretty humorous. I wouldnt recommend XII though in any circumstance.... i was disappointed with everything in that title.

Edit: IV is quite an epic story indeed.

Personally, I love Final Fantasy X. You could either try to find a used PS2 copy or wait for the HD remaster for PS3 and Vita. I've hardly played any of VII, but it seems to be very popular and highly requested for a remake. You can get it on the Playstation store. If you have a PSP, there's Dissidia and Crisis Core, which both have gameplay more similar to KH than other FF games, and I've heard both are great.

VI is the best one

Everybody should play that one

FF7. Why? Best selling FF game in FF history.

You know what else it is?

Worse than VI

Final Fantasy 4 has an amazing story. I'm sure teh DS and PSP versions are good

but I have only played the SNES one.......

Funny, FFVI fans hates usually hate FFVII.

But anyways, VII is a good place to start. not too difficult in my opinion, and it has quite an interesting world and story. It can be gotten from the PS Store. Also, X is a must play FF gamewhich can be gotten for PS2. Both those are good starting points.

But I recommend playing VII, X, VIII, and IV. All of those games can be gotten from PSN, to play on PSP and PS3 except for X and IV. IV can also be gotten as a UMD.

IX are VI are also considered quite good, but I haven't tried them for myself.

The first and only one I've played is XII and unfortunately it's completely put me off the FF series. I can barely tolerate it at all. So hey, I can't give you a recommendation, but I can tell you not to go for that one.
