I enjoy cosplaying at conventions, but I've always gone as a generic sort of character (moogle, white mage, etc.) because as much as I'd like to go as an actual developed character, I don't know how to find one I look enough like to feel completely AWESOME as. How do you guys solve this sort of problem? I know I could just go as whoever I like and no one would care, but I've always admired other cosplayers when they find someone they really look like.

Do you just have to be lucky and have one of those faces or what? Hahah!

I think makeup could help you look like someone

as well as the wigs and costumes

Get a specialty black cloak, make sure it covers your face, and then make two ethereal blades. If you get a string quartet to follow you around it'd make it more believable.

Not going to lie. That would be the most epic thing I ever did in my life. xD

I have to agree with the others: it's all about the wigs, masks, makeup, face paint, etc. that you use to help make yourself look the part. And of course, the costume itself helps, too. If it's face shape or body size/type that you're worried about, don't focus on that too much. For the most part, no one else is going to care if you're a slightly chubby Aqua, or if you don't have the right facial structure for Lexaeus, so long as you look like you've tried to emulate the character as best as you can, and make sure you try to act the part.

I don't have a whole lot of firsthand experience with this kind of thing, since my first cosplay was Luxord, and I already have blonde hair (I just needed to grow out my beard and have my hair cut a certain way).

It's the face shape I'm having trouble with. I like my face. It's just not an anime-esque face. Hahah! Makeup and string quartets! This should be fun. >:}

If you can't get the violins, you could always just whip people to make it more realistic.

If the face is the trouble, you could be a character with a mask. Machina and Kurasame come to mind right away, as does Minwu.

Yeah, i'll charge people down and do huge strings of relentless attacks at them to make it even more realistic. Probably get kicked out pretty quickly. If security can survive long enough to get to me when i'm not invisible.

If you mean FF's Minwu, I'd need a LOT of makeup to be tan enough. Covering the face is a good idea, though! http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png

Or you could not go and say that you were invisible!

Even if you weren't the right skin color, I think most people wouldn't care and they'd approve of your effort. Or you could be Aqua with her helmet on. Then again, where would you get a suit of armor.

Well make up helps with the face

I seen a vid about a girl putting make up on her self and she appeard as a famous male singer

I think thats also cosplaying...idk :/

It depends on your skill set and the skills of friends and family

for instance, for my Korra cosplay, I picked out fabrics similar to her costume and my grandma sewed a costume together for me

for harder ones like Yuna's FFX costume, I searched around the Internet until I found a really good costume

make sure you get a GOOD ONE, not a cheap one. I found some Yuna costumes that were only like $50, but they were horrible

for the hair, you can either use your own (I used mine for Yuna's and used all of mine for Korra's plus a small clip-on hair extension for her back ponytail) or there are places that sell good wigs
