[Spoilers] My name is...

Posted

So in like the second scene, we see (I presume) the Organization members becoming humans again. Xigbar sorta yells some questions at (who I presume to be) Xehanort, before Xehanort rushes him with Master Xehanort's Keyblade and opens his heart.

Then he says "My name is Ansem". But he's not Ansem; he's Xehanort. Why does he say he's Ansem?

I think it's because this is when Xehanort first stole Ansem the Wises' identity. I don't really remember all the details, but it's pretty much that.

That's the point right before he loses his heart and steals Ansem the Wise's name and becomes Ansem SoD and Xemnas.

That happened before kh1...they became nobodies not human in that scene

I think this is set before the events of Kingdom Hearts 1.

It shows all the other assistants dying and then Braig dying.

Its showing the transition from Terranort to Ansem in the 1st game.

They're not really dying, their hearts are being forcibly unlocked.

But they "die" and become Nobodies and Heartless.

I guess you could put it that way though. Because no one dies in Kingdom Hearts =P

Quote so you know I replied. Silly me, I always forget to do that.

No deaths? What about Bambi's mom? Mufasa? Gaston? or Ursula? or even Maleficent? Oh and just remembered Frollo too.

Plus in Kingdom Hearts didn't master Eraqus technically die?

In the case of this scene if you've played KHI and KHII you'll realize this takes place before KHI when apprentice Xehanort extracts the hearts of Ansem the Wise's another apprentices back when they were studying the heart. You also learn apprentice Xehanort could wield his keyblade and maybe never even lost his memories after his ordeal with Aqua. I do wonder why he stole Ansem the wise's identity though. Maybe it was Xehanorts way of taunting him? who knows?

No, I don't think so. There has to be a better reason.

That aside it sounds like he really believes to be Ansem himself - but since when? It is pretty clear that that is the first time that he calls himself Ansem, but why... so suddenly? Maybe he was remembering that he is not "really" just Xehanort but also Terra?

With all context issues aside, it is still a pretty bizzare move on his part. From a development perspective it was necessary for Xehanort to be introduced.

Story wise alone, it was so Xehanort could make Ansem's life as miserable as possible. Evidently by these responses, the games didn't make it very clear that Xehanort would have a reason to hate Ansem so much, but it makes sense if you think about it a little. In fact it quite contradicts Xehanorts actions in the game. Had Xehanort let out some menacingly evil laugh after adopting Ansem's name it would sort of make sense, but in the case given you just need to go with it. (Unless there is another interpretation I'm missing.)
