Angelina Jolie’s daughter has been cast opposite her mother in the forthcoming fairytale adventure Maleficent. According to Deadline Vivienne Jolie-Pitt will play the young Princess Aurora in Maleficent. Elle Faning will play the teenage version of the character, who is cursed to sleep until kissed by a handsome prince. Maleficent is a live-action take on the Sleeping Beauty legend, with Jolie senior playing the titular sorceress. The film is currently shooting in the UK and will hit screens in March 2014.

The film looks interesting. However, 'Maleficent' is apparently bringing forth a time when Disney will produce live-action counterparts to most (if not all) of their animated classics...

 

Maleficent is due for release in 2014, but following the Sleeping Beauty take, a Cinderella live-action remake has also been confirmed (not 'A Cinderella Story'-type movie either - an actual remake to the 1950 classic). A live-action Pinocchio film is also in the works (hopefully Disney will not look to the 2002 disaster for inspiration).

 

I'm all for bringing classic films to new generations, through live-action adaptations and remakes, but I'm hoping that this is not a permanent state of mind for Disney:

 

Only produce films that fall into one of four categories:

• Live-action remake of an animated classic
• Remake of a timeless live-action film
• Sequel to an already successful franchise
• Based on a theme park ride

The title makes it sound like her daughter is going to play Maleficent lol

Title is very misleading. But then again, most titles people post here are.

 

Good to see one of my favorite Disney movies being remade.

This will be the 1 time I think Maleficent is hot.

So....Angelina Jolie and her kid in the same movie? And its Disney?
