If I might quote Billy Joel...

The good old days weren't always good,

Tommorrow ain't as bad as it seems...

Exactly this. It`s easy to look to the past, where details are hazy and often completely inaccurate, and state that it was simply better

And it`s easy to focus on the sheer number of problems the future will bring.

But it`s not really the case

I know, there is lot of bad games in the past aswell, but it feels like people aren't learning anymore about their mistakes: I rarely anymore am getting hyped up about upcoming games and I really can't spend as much time on them as I would spend on older games. (one reason is that games are lot shorter these days)

I really don't feel like I should answer so deeply on your post hatok, since it's all about opnion but I say few things:

-Nuke town is probably shittiest map ever made and it looks very dull

-I have Super Meat Boy, it's hard game, but I talked generally about difficulty of games

- yes linearity of game is making it lot easier: You have no change of getting lost from the path or going to wrong place.

- Dark souls isn't archaic: it has great visuals, good music, hard and balanced battle system, every weapon has their unique attacking pattern. It jusn't doesn't follow the "standarts" of other games

- Deus Ex- human revolution isn't only Deus EX game. (Don't get me wrong HR is great game and shows how older games should be revived)

- So you say that it's not bad to throw zombies everywhere just because they happen to be popular?

- Compare the amount of new series to Sequels, also Prototype was pretty bad game and second one was just worse. inFamous very good serie, but I hope that it won't get direct sequel, (anyone who has gotten good ending of Infamous 2 knows why there isn't reason to continue story of cole) Luckily: Sucker Punch is really good studio and they probably are gonna start making brand new game soon.

-I'm not playing wrong games..

One thing I remembered about Deus Ex HR:

The quality of these "reawakened" games. Deus Ex HR did it right, so did Kid Icarus. It felt the good old game you have played, but it has improved, it's fun, it has nostalgic feeling all along but is still brand new game.

Then there is those games like Syndicate: How can you actually make some Call of Duty from this awesome cyber punk co-op game what was from third person game. Not any generic FPS that you can play through in 4 hours.

Or Bionic Commando: That's the biggest slap on the face I have got. The really great game turned to very bad game. And it has humor like this:

Oh and I forgot this:

I suggest you to watch whole rewiew to see how bad the game is, but if you want to just see how good story Square has made then watch from 11.30

Not sure if it's sarcasm, or an actual compliment :/

Sarcasimpliment.

I know, there is lot of bad games in the past aswell, there were WORSE games in the past. Nowadays it isn't exactly common to find a buggy unplayable game that looks and play terribly. The bad games of today are far better than the games of yesterday but it feels like people aren't learning anymore about their mistakes: Okay, you really need to stop treating video games like some sort of connected entity I rarely anymore am getting hyped up about upcoming games and I really can't spend as much time on them as I would spend on older games. It's called growing up (one reason is that games are lot shorter these days Again, no, older games just have more artificial lengthening)

I really don't feel like I should answer so deeply on your post hatok, since it's all about opnion but I say few things:

-Nuke town is probably shittiest map ever made and it looks very dull It also has a lot of bright colours, which was my point

-I have Super Meat Boy, it's hard game, but I talked generally about difficulty of games You can't just generalize like that, though. Some games are hard, some games are easy. Ever game can be made harder. Seriously, if you really think your games aren't giving you enough challenge, then impose one on yourself.

- yes linearity of game is making it lot easier: You have no change of getting lost from the path or going to wrong place. That's not a bad thing. That's called wasting your time. A well designed game isn't based around wasting your time

- Dark souls isn't archaic: it has great visuals, good music, hard and balanced battle system, every weapon has their unique attacking pattern. It jusn't doesn't follow the "standarts" of other games Uh... it's possible to be archaic and still look or sound good. It sounds more like the actual design of the game is archaic

- Deus Ex- human revolution isn't only Deus EX game. (Don't get me wrong HR is great game and shows how older games should be revived) But you mentioned takedowns. Those were only in HR, weren't they?

- So you say that it's not bad to throw zombies everywhere just because they happen to be popular? I certainly don't see what harm they're doing

- Compare the amount of new series to Sequels, also Prototype was pretty bad game to you and second one was just worse. inFamous very good serie, agreed but I hope that it won't get direct sequel, (anyone who has gotten good ending of Infamous 2 knows why there isn't reason to continue story of cole Except, you know, there's a question mark at the end) Luckily: Sucker Punch is really good studio and they probably are gonna start making brand new game soon.

-I'm not playing wrong games.. No, you clearly are. If you can be bold enough to generalize all modern games ever like this, then you need to play some different games. First of all, you seem very focused on story, so I can't help but wonder why you play so many first person shooters that are noted for their lack of story. Have you played Mass Effect? Because you never replied to that part. Play that on insanity difficulty, you'll get the great story and difficulty you want. But honestly, it sounds like you are explicitly ignoring a lot just to prove your point. What you're basically saying is "certain genres don't appeal to me! All games nowadays are declining!"

So I'd say you're playing the wrong games, yeah

Also, please never cite Angry Joe as a source again, please. For the good of us all

... So now you are saying that there is some wrong with wanting to have challenge when playing games and not just going through the game without any trouble..

- Well designed is different from linear, if linear game is designed well it doesn't feel like that. And almost every game has those sewer parts, they are like the most laziest way to make game, just super linear and dull looking "hurr durr straightforward" styled where even the blind can't get lost.

- you said that archaic with that kind of tone, that anyone could think that you would mean it negative way.

- By slamming everything full of ZAMBIES is killing the whole thing and soon there won't be those anywhere, that is bad thing with overusing anything.

- I have played Mass Effect, it just isn't my kind of game. I can say that it is pretty good, but somehow I just can't get into it

And what is wrong with Angry Joe, he just says things as they are and don't care about other people's opnions and doesn't try to make bad games sound good.
