It makes no sense to me as to why she turns into that armour thing instead of just fighting you with her keyblade :S any help would be much appreciated. (Not tips on how to beat her, ive done it already )

I think is because of Xemnas when he take Xion from Axel, he reprogram Xion to use de devices in that armored-form or something like that.....

Did you happen to notice when she transformed into them it look like Sora? It's like Sora's outfit in metal form.

Xion is meant to just be a simple nobody. At first she didnt have a face till she started gaining some of sora's memories, to make her look like Kairi. Later on she started gaining more and more of sora's memories. To soon gain sora's face and hair Pretty much Xemnas added some data so after full completion, she would transform into...that...thing.

yep im pretty sure the device you place in agrabah gives xion her powers and forms

before you fight her she takes the power of that world so she gets cool stuff.

If you look closely, she resembles Sora.

It's her puppet form. She absorbs Soras memories from the machines and gains Soras abilities and appearance (Starting with KH1, but her final form seems similar to KH2 Sora)

Yes. You fight her. Roxas runs away and she finds him on the clocktower, and changes into four different forms you defeat above Twilight Town. The map changes, though, so it looks like you're fighting her in different places. For each place you fight, her Keyblade and armor-y stuff changes.

I think that Xemnas re-programmed her so she absorbs the rest of Roxas so she could be complete.

That is the answer

Xemnas put her in a new body so it can absorb more of Sora's memories. The armor work with the device in the worlds they're suppose to let her absorb the memories of the place.

The reason why she has that armor on is because Xemnas reprogrammed her after Axel had brung her back to the castle. Xemnas wanted Roxas and Xion to fight each other because he only needed one keyblade user in ths organization instead of just two. Xemnas and Saix as well as Namine knew that Roxas and Xion shouldn't co-exist. So he only needed one of them would be useless to him. So since he reprogrammed her, Xemnas's reprogramming allowed Xion to use all the powers she absorbed from Roxas, which is why she was in that armor. That, and because of those machine things that the organization ordered Roxas to plant. Those also gave her extra power to transform into different armors.
