I'm not sure if anyone has thought or commented on this, but I think that Vanitas is a Xehanort.

Reasoning:

Yellow Eyes

Is literally darkness

Since he is pure darkness then he would of killed Ventus first chance he got, UNLESS he had a part of Xehanort's heart in which he would react partially to Xehanort's plans

I think Its very possible Vanitas is one of the 13 darknesses. ( although the yellow eyes is bc hes literally made of darkness..Just sayin)

Yeah already thought about this since KH3D confirmed that the yellow eyes are a sign for Xehanort... But I really can't imagine how this could fit together ...

It's all but outright confirmed that he's a darkness, I mean only makes sense. All we need is to see his ears to see if their pointy and go "welp, yep."

 

I was just thinking of this earlier but Vanitas's hair often gets confused for blue-black because of the lighting but when he's on the Station of Waking it's more clearly an ashy-black, via, a very dark "greyish." If he's a Xehanort I assume he has been for most of his short life merely consisting of four years. I think the possibilities are interesting in how that might affect him as a person.

He could be one of the 13 Darknesses. I guess we just have to wait and see on what unfolds in Kingdom Hearts III.

Eh, that's a misconception actually, yellow eyes are a sign of Xehanort. if that were the case there'd be a lot more characters with yellow eyes. For some bizarre reason Xehanort seems to be the only person with yellow eyes besides the people connected with him.

True. If I remember correctly, every Person in KH with Yellow eyes is a Version of Xehanort, except Vanitas.

Well, Vanitas is still questionable as there hasn't been a person yet shown that has yellow eyes just because.

I think you're thinking of the novels which are third tier canon and went more into Vanitas's back story. I was wondering because you had to be talking about either Vanitas or Xehanort but the manga hasn't gone that far yet; it's still on KH2. And not canon.

He's probably going to be a body guard of some sort. 

If he were a Xehanort, he would've had silver hair.

 

Or that effect hasn't kicked in yet. It took Braig/Xigbar about ten years to gain silver streaks, Vanitas was only around for about four years.

I'm not sure if Xehanort features are age restricted, that'd be kind of weird. But then again Vanitas as a whole is an anomaly

Whatever he was, I can bet he is going to appear in KH3

I got a feeling that he will appear IF Ventus was awaken from his sleep since he was his darkside...

I think he'll be a 13th darkness and most likely come back around the time they save Ventus.

I always summed that Vanitas already had a place as one of the Darknesses even if he's not physically there at the moment. A reserved spot if you will.
