Is Final Fantasy Really going downhill?

Well I'm an old fan and I liked them,is that a problem in the final fantasy community who'll punish any dude liking XIII

 

7 is good but WAY OVERRATED

 

8 Makes 0 sense 

 

12 was balls I hate it

 

9 was amazing

The entire FF franchise is just overrated beyond belief and it's psycho fans treat it like a religion that if ONE game was different from the others and that dude who liked the game they forbid they consider him dead for liking it

It gets the recognition it deserves because it is such a great franchise. Except that by letting that stupidity keep you from liking what you like, you're letting the fanbase control you by making you say "up yours" to it and the franchise in general.  It may be hard for you to believe, but not all FF fans are that stupid, and allowing that to shape your perception of the fanbase as a whole is insulting to the ones who just want to discuss a franchise they love.  People who praise, say, FFVII aren't always mindless fanboys, and the term "overrated" is irrelevant for the smart ones.  As for the people who are essentially stalking you for having a different opinion, they're doing it because they think it's fun to piss you off, and judging from your posts, it worked.  Ditching the fanbase won't make you the better man, they're just making you run away from something you like.  It's gonna suck but just ignore the stalkers until they get bored and leave.  It's how trolls work--if you don't feed them, they starve.  Don't make an outward show of how much they piss you off, just act as though they don't exist.

I don't think that they are going straight downfall. Even though I'm not big fan of newest FF games, they are still pretty enjoyable and I think that Final Fantasy is now in state that developers don't know what they want to do with series. Should they make game more modern and make it easier to approach or should they stay in their old fashioned style that current fans love? 

 

I think that they should try to evolve FF to more modern, BUT still not forgetting good old things. I'm fine with little bit anime like story, I like new graphics. But give us more change to explore and make battle system not so simplistic. Take away that 'auto-battle' command. Take off some tempo from battles. Personally, I liked XIII-2. The story was fine (I don't like time travelling, but it was made better than in KH DDD), level design was huge improvement from XIII, the musics were really nice. They actually learned from mistakes they did in XIII and fixed them.

 

What do I hope from future of FF? I want to see more open worlds, more depth in story, take away tempo from battle and make some 'classic FF' vibe to it. Don't make messy DLC policy as you did with XIII-2!

You can't generalize your opinion of the fanbase to the rest of us because of a few trolls.. Not all of us are that sad and moronic to follow a person with a clashing opinion to them around the internet trying to get their point across. What I am saying is that it's fine to like whatever FF entries you like, but as far as I can see a vast majority of the hardcore fans have little interest in the newer entries.

FF VII did well and has a big fanbase for reasons.

 

Though I do believe that the FF Fanbase is very " Oh you like this character/ game how dare you, that game/ character sucks, so you must suck ". And " Oh he/she likes this game/ character, and that game/ character doesn't suck, so this person is awesome ".

They are stuck with the  FF XIII games, and is not that I hate them, but come on, I want brand New games (I'm sick of Ligthning) and I just see pointless that they keep numbering the games.

Most of the originals left the company so to be honest they're not really " Square " anymore. It's more Enix and some Square. But the ones who made SquareSoft a golden company left and walked away.

 

Most of them walked out during development with FF XII because they wanted to make Basche the main lead, but SE refused and told them to make Vaan the lead instead. Not liking this, they walked out.

 

Mistwalker who have recently made Last Story are more " Square " than what's left of Square with SquareEnix.

 

Imo Enix are poisoning the FF games from the insides. 

 

I'm sick of Light too. And tbh she's not that great.

I would have to say yes. The series started to go down hill at FF10, The story is okay at best, i only liked 1 character, but that's not the reason i don't like it, They completely ruined summons and got rid of the world map. i remember getting a summon in 4 7,8,9 and using them all the time and feeling so excited when i got them all. in 10 the summons were mainly used to forward the story and i hardly ever used them because i found them to be completely useless. since they got rid of the world map the game didn't open up until near the end.(and don't get me wrong i can see why people like it so much i just didn't enjoy it) Then came 12 and i liked it, it's not very memorable like many other FF titles but i enjoyed it it certainly wasn't linear, the story was good and so were the characters, while there was no world map but the world itself felt more open and free than 10 did, Now comes 13, I only played 5 hours of FF13 before i just said firetruck it and quit, i put the game back in its case and gave it back to my friend. i haven't picked the game up since and don't plan to until i start my video game collection. The story was confusing and nothing was explained i basically just had to assume everything. as for the characters, look i understand final fantasy has had some moody characters but Lightning really takes the cake there is a difference between being moody and just being a complete bitch, and what the firetruck was up with hope i've never seen a character cry and complain so much in a 5 hour period than him i mean there's a time and place for everything damn, i'm not even going to touch on the linearity of it. I have not and have absolutely no interest in getting either of the sequels for 13. also the music quality in all the newer games seems to have gone down, just allot less memorable tracks,

 

However i do have EXTREMELY high hopes for Final Fantasy 15 only because it's being made by the same team who made Kingdom hearts 1 and 2. and i know some people are complaining that it's "going too far from its roots because it's not turn based combat" The FF series has been away from it's roots since 10,

If anybody can make an amazing memorable Final Fantasy game it's Tetsuya Nomura.

Is the Fina fantasy series really going downhill? From the looks of it it seems that way ever since the creator of the series left Square after he finish FFX. And ever since X the FF games have been getting work as not as magical or memoriable as most of the games do. I mean there are new FF games that are pretty good like Final fantasy Type-0 and FF XIII (in terms of story) but that's about it. XIII-2 to me looks like a complete mess and didn't seem necessary after the ending of FF XIII and it only made fans want FF XIII-3 (A.K.A Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII). As for Versus XIII I can't say anything about it since we know little about that game. But I do hope it saves the FF franchise like people are predicting. 

I think the game went downhill for awhile after X came out. XIII restored to a certain degree, but still. XI and XII were complete and utter SHIT in my eyes, but XIII made things better though. LR FF XIII will probably make it even better.
