Whoa awesome question! ^^ I don't know the exact time, but to narrow it down somewhat I think it's inbetween Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts, so somewhere in that 10 year gap (I know that's not very helpful but it's all I know )

Yeah, and the latest would probably be that cutscene from the beginning of Kingdom Hearts 3D, but by that point I think something went haywire and the two of them were probably bouncing around inside of Terranort instead of talking

It seems to have taken place early on in the possession. I'm assuming it happened sometime while Xehanort was Ansem's apprentice.

We might not ever know, the whole issue of Xehanort becoming a heartless and keeping his sense of self while at the same time Xemnas still felt he was Xehanort made me wonder if the nobodies just accept the memories as who they are even if they aren't actually that person.

I hoped so too, but I kinda doubt it. If I remember correctly, he said telling the fandom whether the Terra armor fight in Kh2Fm was canon or not wasn't important. If that isn't true there's always what he said in the first interview, regardless of how confused the fanbase is.

It was at a point where Terranort could't even move nor did he know who he was. Plus anytime we have seen or heard of Terranort after this point it has been done under the will of Xehanort.

Its funny, I watched the secret ending just last night and asked myself the same question.  I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it happens earlier, like not after KH2 like how Aqua and Ansem the Wise's conversation was. 

I think it's around he became Ansem's apprentice, because (if I'm not mistaken) when they finish their conversation, a Terranort (more precisely, apprentice Xehanort) is zoomed out and appears walking in the lab's corridors. It seems it zooms out of his head, like meaning the conversation took place "inside".

But I don't know for sure, it's a guess.

I suppose that's possible, I didn't really care for them in DDD but if they were to explain everything not shown I might like them. I feel as if there was a topic about playing as Xehanort, like Darth Vader in The Force unleashed. It'd be pretty awesome if that did happen.

Good question; I really have no idea.  I  mean, they show when Aqua meets DiZ in BbS, so that conversation between Xehanort and Terra could've been long after BbS's closure, as in years.
