Final Fantasy X-2 players -- discussion and support

Posted

I've noticed a lot of people commenting on how they're playing X-2 right now--myself included--and noticed there really aren't any threads discussing the game.  So, I thought I'd start one.  This is where we can discuss the game, share our experiences and, if you're stuck or need help, maybe one of us can pitch in and help you out!  (I have the guide too, so maybe I can help with something.)

I'm presently at the end of chapter one.  And, seriously, the battles are far too easy.  I was expecting a real fight in Zanarkand, but the boss was literally gone in one Firaga!

As far as dicussion, I was expecting more from this game. I think that XIII is the better version of FFX, IMO.

I was lost for like half the game. I don't like how they presented Yuna's character. A lot of characters are just pallid and blah.

The battle system confuscating; it gave me alot of  trouble esp. during the Leblanc battle in Chapter 2.

Oh, don't forget to sleep in every chapter to get 100%

I am stuck on 99% and I don't feel like beating the game for the 4th time already.

To me that "Happy Ending" is not enough for my time.

Haven't played XIII yet to compare for myself, but I'm also a tad disappointed by the game.  I mean, I like to rate a game once I've completed it, but as I get further in...well...  Nothing's turning me on just yet, except for Yuna's dream.

I don't really mind the battle system since I've played a lot of active time battle RPGs before, but yes, it's very different than FFX was.  One thing I do prefer over this fighting style is the ability to multi-cast spells on either all your party members or enemies instead of having to choose only one.  That became quite annoying in X.

Yeah, I'm remembering to sleep in each chapter, though I discovered I missed one tiny thing on the Calm Lands... You're supposed to speak to a company, which I didn't do because I didn't realize it added % to the story.  Also, what side did you offer the sphere to, the Youth League or New Yevon?  Because I read that you can only get 100% if you side with the Youth League.  Nott hat it wouldn't have been my first choice anyway, but y'know.

It's really just as easy (wait, who am I trying to kid, it's EASIER) to get on youtube and find the happy ending there.  Definitely a time saver.  I just wish I wasn't such a perfectionist and "have" to get 100%, haha!

They ruined yuna and turned rikku into jailbait. Also the story...WTF!

Oh yeah, I can totally agree with you there.  I can forgive a flat story with an exclusively female cast, but they just totally ruined Yuna.  I mean, totally!  Rikku's also worse, but it's not that surprising that she became the way she is after seeing her in X.  Yuna though...she's like a complete stranger.  This is the only thing that's actually made me consider putting this game down; I just can't stand the way Yuna changes.  I mean, she was such a softspoken modest girl, and now look at her. *sighs*

I'm still wanting to complete the game, just for the sake of it, though I can already tell this isn't going to rank in my favorite titles.

Give the sphere to the Youth League.

I gave it to New Yevon the first time and lost a lot of precentage.

And that dream...... well.......

At that point the first time through, I stopped playing for a long time, almost a year.

You can get 99% with New Yevon

Great game, very easy after training. So much to do. Getting 100% in one playthrough would be very time consuming. I didn't do it.

I missed the "Whistle" scene and was stuck with the Sad Ending. Although it wasn't that sad.

Hey, does anyone happen to know if you can "make" up for story percentage anywhere?  I think I accidentally missed 0.2% because I didn't speak to the sales people in the Calm Lands in chapter one and I'm now on chapter two.  I found one additional story place that says it adds 0.4% to the story and it doesn't show as a requirement to get 100%, so do you think that extra 0.4% might cover it?

Also...anyone know if I can go back to the Calm Lands and speak to one of the agencies now?

My kid sister's told me not to bother with the X-2 Happy Ending, it just isn't worth it, lol.  Says it's much easier and just as satisfying to watch it on Youtube.  I'm just such a perfectionist that I hate not getting 100%, haha!

I actually just got the game from a thrift store. xD The only reason I got it was because it was so cheap, and because it's a goal of mine to play through all the Final Fantasy games. I was expecting to hate it, but it's really not that bad once you get past a few things. Yeah, they changed Yuna and made Rikku more obnoxious, but I can understand why they made Yuna different. A lot changed in the two years that were between games and we didn't get to see any of it. We're seeing a Yuna that was changed already between X and X-2. While it'd be interesting to know exactly what sparked what changes, I'm happy they didn't leave her 100% the same.

As for gameplay, I'm enjoying it. The dress spheres are hard to get at first but over time, it seems like it'll be a neat system. I'm not even 10% into the game yet so I've got a long way to go.

Congrats on getting the game!  Yeah, I don't hate it either, but I don't think it really can be compared to X in any way.  It's lacking in both memorable characters and story.  I also think that the game could be more enjoyable if you're not aiming to complete the story 100%.  The dresspheres are kind of neat; confusing, but they're not horrible.  Sort of reminds me of the jobs from earlier FFs.

You get the "Perfect Ending" if you have 100%. I'd disagree regardless though. I can't say the Perfect Ending is worth it, but the Happy Ending definitely is. Happy Ending only needs like 70-75% plus the Whistle scene and back-story scene.

Oh!  Now that I didn't know...  I guess I could do without the Perfect Ending.  Have you seen it?  Is it that spectacular or worthwhile?

The Perfect Ending? It's just a bonus scene after the Happy Ending, It goes for like two or so minutes. Nothing major, just confirms one thing which you probably had assumed.. I watched it on YouTube. I don't find it worth 100%. It's not even in CGI.

You've just become my favorite person;  thanks!  Now I don't have to kill myself over getting 100%. :P

So, did anyone else have like a REALLY hard time in Bevelle at the end of chapter two?  Just curious...  Even *with* the guide I was constantly walking in circles!  And those enemies without any save points *groans*.

I had a harder time the second time through. Hahaha.

I've heard that you can't skip scenes or dialogue to receive full story percentage...  Do you literally lose story percentage by hitting X before their dialogue's fully displayed?  If so, that's utterly insane!

It's insane someone would notice that.

I thought you weren't going for 100% anymore.

Nah, I've given up on aiming for 100%; there's too many time-consuming side missions you have to complete for that.  I was just curious, since I've skipped over tons of dialogue in the game already when I've gotten a "game over" and didn't want to listen to their chatter all over again.  I was just curious if it was true, since my guide was saying not to skip scenes or dialogue, but the dialogue part doesn't really make a whole lot of sense.
