Is there new story information in the Days cutscenes of 1.5?

Posted

I wanna know whether or not there are new things thrown in from the original Days story, or if it's basically the same thing. Don't tell me what they are, but just if there are, and if those sections are important.

Actually, it's the opposite.  A lot of things were cut out for time constraints, and the pragmatism of not creating 20+ hours of HD cutscenes along with everything else to deal with in 1.5.  Some things were understandable, others, not so much.

No new things actually. Just cutscenes based on a portion of the Days scenes.

Are you sure?  The reason I ask is because I'd seen a trailer featuring some 358/2 Days cutscenes for the 1.5 reMIX, and there were definitely some scenes that were elaborated on from the game.

Some scenes had more effort put into them than the original game. There's some text based scenes becoming cutscenes. They also have those big walls of text to fill in some story gaps. Other than that it's missing a lot of scenes.

Ah, that was it!  Because I was like, "Whoa, they completely changed this scene and added more to it!"  It seems as though they might've picked and chose what they would keep, and then elaborated on it.  That would explain it for sure.  Thanks for clarifying, Weiss. :)

i actually find that true. but i think that they got the basic story down right. the extra details of the original days that make it so special were cut out though...so that made the movie kind of dull. so i was disappointed

Exactly.  The Days movie gives you the gist of what happens, but none of the details that gives you the full experience (though the trade off for not having the full experience is not being forced to go through the gameplay, which not everyone enjoyed in Days).  Without those little details sprinkled throughout the game, the movie was sorta dull.  Once you get past the pretty graphics and the HOLY CRUD THIS STUFF IS VOICED part, the Days movie was sorta disappointing.

It includes the full info from the cutscenes, the reports, and the hidden (unlockable) reports in the game. No new info, just presented in a slightly new format.

i'm fine about them taking out the gameplay. that was kind of dull in the original game. but they could AT LEAST put in the battles or something! i mean, the transition from xion talking to roxas on day 357 to the part when she is beaten and dies, they dont even put a fight in between. nothing. for the person who knows nothing about 358/2 it seems ridiculous and they start questioning: "so she just dies after talking to roxas on the tower?"

Haha, I actually had fun with the gameplay, though I'm a minority in that respect.  Well, in their defense, battles would've been tricky to animate.  They were probably pressed for time as it is so I guess fight scenes, even brief ones, were among the things sacrificed for the sake of completion.  The transition from the Xion bossfight to the scene afterwards, yeah, that was definitely awkward.  The other fight scenes get a pass because they were implied to happen and not all that critical to animate, but there's too large a jump from Xion saying she and Roxas had to merge, to her collapsing.  They didn't even show the transformation into her armored form, so it's like Roxas beat up Xion as is--and even saying he beat her up is stretching it since in the other boss fights, Roxas at least had his keyblade drawn, prepared to fight.  Not so in this case.  Speaking of fights, I don't get why they got rid of Roxas's escape from the Castle That Never Was and his encounter with Saix.  They didn't have to show the fight, just a few seconds of Roxas running through the castle, and his dialogue with Saix.  It was so anticlimactic.  After everything that happens, after all the doubt and deception and brutality, when Roxas finally decides to leave the Organization, he just... leaves.  Boom, he's walking the streets, like he just waltzed out of there like it was nothing.

I could go into great detail about why taking out all those details, big and small, really hindered the movie's narrative, but maybe another time.

yeah i know it was for sake of time. but i'm betting that it wouldnt be so hard to make at least one fight scene in the whole collection of cutscenes...

oh. i never noticed that they cut out the scene when roxy ran away...well i guess that's stupid too.

I thought they could've released 1.5 later and do Days.after all most of the worlds where already ready in HD- Agrabah- Twilight Town- Wonderland - Neverland (partially)- Halloween Town

- Colluseumall they'd have to do was Beast Castle and the White room thinge where they "chill".Ofcourse everything still had to be programmed, but a lot of the designing was ready, right?
