First Job Interview

Recommended Posts

Today I was called by the pretzel place at the local mall for a job interview. It's my first and while I'm pretty good at making first impressions when necessary, I'd still like some advice because I REALLY NEED A JOB.

So any advice you have to give me about presentation, answering questions, etc., will be appreciated!

Dress appropriately for the position. Take it serious, but you don't need to be extremely formal for a cashier position. Be as honest with the person as possible. Be as calm as you can and things should go well for you. Its okay to flub up words, we're only human, but try not do it often.

Try reading up a little about the place you're interviewing for.  You don't have to be an expert about everything but it helps to know a little about where you're going to be working.  If they have a website then it's easier cause you can look at the menu and they usually have an About page.

And don't mention that you're Satan.  Let them hire you and witness your glory before you depart this extraordinary news to them.

Show energy, but not too much, if the interviewer cracks a joke, laugh a bit, but not like a really light chuckle, or a hyena like one. And trust me, since I do interviews, the interviewer is VERY nervous, mostlikely more than you.

I actually just finished a job interview...it went ok in my opinion...i couldve done better but the main thing is be yourself.

They put me on the spot a few times to the point where I had to make up a few stories and exaggerate a little so hopefully you can think on your feet.

But other than that, dress well, be confident and just flow with it....and what everyone else said...they won't guide you wrong...

This is just adding on to what's already been said, but try to avoid saying "uh" and "Um" a lot

Yes, just take a pause then talk.

Ask questions.

Like "How much do I have to put out to get a raise?"

"Can I tease some customers for tips?"

Done and done mhmmmm
