Hey guys, Jill here with a bit of news since I feel like I'm coming along far enough with this to actually "announce" it. So, without further ado, I present to you my ongoing 8bit remix project of Kingdom Hearts 1, Kingdom Sprites.
I apologize for the awful name.
Anyway, if you haven't noticed (and it's okay, I know most of you haven't; let's be honest here), some days ago I posted two of my "8bit demixes" of Kingdom Hearts music - Hollow Bastion and Atlantica's field / battle themes. I had gotten inspired from 1.5's impending release and I "cranked" them out, if you will. After doing those two, I got the idea - what if I made NES versions of all of the field and battle themes from the first Kingdom Hearts? And then, that's where the inception of the idea of Kingdom Sprites came about.
Currently I have about 1/3rd of the field / battle music done or started on, but I really don't plan on quitting anytime soon. Anyway, some info on what I use: scroll down for the actual links and shit (though you can click on that beautiful sprited picture at the top to be linked to my soundcloud set which will be updated as I progress).
I use Famitracker, an open-source tracker (that is, a music program that reads notes going "up and down" instead of "left to right" like on a piece of sheet music) that emulates the sound engine of the NES / Famicom (you should totally Google it if you're interested). I do NOT use that GXSCC program where you just grab MIDIs from the net and bitch slap them in. I hate to be one of "those" people, but it always irks me when I see someone use it. Seriously, everytime I hear a GXSCC'd MIDI posted as "8bit", I die a little inside...but enough about that. I'm using MIDIs as a reference point, but I am using the official music and my own ear to fix any mistakes I find.
Okay, now that I'm done with that, I'll get to the actual tracks. The following links are to the soundcloud file for each of them, though if you *really* want to, you can check them out on my YouTube channel as well. Again, I plan on doing EVERY field and battle theme from each of the worlds, along with other battle themes and some miscellaneous songs. Keep in mind that this is a tentative list, so I'll add more songs and links when I get to them.
