Weird but serious curious question

Posted

I'm sure you may have seen this portrayed in some form, whether it be in TV shows episodes, Fanfiction, books, etc. I don't know.

And I'm not sure why this randomly popped into my head because I can't remember what I was thinking about before, so I guess it's just out of the blue.

My question is, if let's say two teenagers, a girl and a boy are dating. Both have single parents. Somehow/eventually the parents hook up and decide to marry. So now the two dating teenagers are step-siblings. Not related at all by blood, just through their parents' marriage.

I remember seeing this topic in an episode of Criminal Minds, maybe Lost, and I know I've read a few random short (fictional) stories about it. I've also seen some people who've actually BEEN in that situation discuss it.

No I don't have any step-siblings, this does not pertain to me at all. Oh wait I remember now, I was thinking about the Sims and how the teenagers probably break up if their parents get married!

Anyways, yeah. I'm just curious, what are your thoughts on this? Put yourself in the situation If you were dating somebody and your single parents got married. You would now be step-siblings with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Would you feel awkward? Probably break up? I know this seems a bit far-fetched but it's just a hypothetical "what if" question.

I think this is pretty interesting and I kind of want to write a KH fic containing this idea. But honestly, what do you think of the entire thing? Just curious.

**Also I apologize to anyone/those offended or otherwise sensitive to this topic. If you are then just don't reply or press the back button lol, I don't know what to tell you.

Some would feel awkward, others would find that kinky. Depends on the person...As for me, I'm not sure how to feel about that.

Although some people might think it's a little weird, if they're not related, it should be fine.

Yeah, see, I know what you mean! I'd imagine a lot of people would be into that (although I personally have my fetishes, that isn't one of them), but I agree with you in the way that I wouldn't know how to react.Actually now that I think about it, if the teenagers eventually wanted to get married, would it be legal since they're step-siblings? Welp, to Google!

Well I don't think the kids should have to break up, it's weird when it happens but the parents wouldn't even know eachother and shouldn't have gone after eachother when their kids are together.

Well if kids hooked up first the kids should break parents up :D and if parents hooked up first then kids  break up :D or you can be fostered :D

My response is the same in a "what if" situation.  If two kids are dating and their single parents start meeting each other they should see the other person as family since they're the parent of their child's partner.

Wouldnt really care, though it would be extremely weird, especially if there is other siblings, it would be awkward for them especially.

Okay, it sounded differently when you worded it the first time but okay.
