Well, with the announcement of the final game of the Xehanort saga, I've decided that I'd like to write my feelings on it, as well as look back on the series as a whole. I'll start with the embarrassing truth: I almost never played Kingdom Hearts. My strange 5 year old self saw commercials for the first game, and for whatever reason, thought it was some girly game because of the word "hearts" being in the title. However, one fateful day, I went to my cousin's house. He was playing a game that looked absolutely amazing. He told me it was Kingdom Hearts, and I absolutely fell in love with the game there. I got the first game for Christmas that year, so I've been with the series since the beginning, in 2002. I remember completing the first game, running around my house telling everyone that I'd done it, as well as getting excited over the secret ending. I remember seeing the commercial for Chain of Memories on the GBA, and playing that over and over again for 5 to 10 minutes out of pure excitement. I remember playing through Roxas' intro to KHII, being booted off the PS2 for having played too long. I remember witnessing the end of 358/2 Days, and the emotional wave that came with it. I remember getting Birth by Sleep, the one game I didn't have access to the system for a few years, and playing through that emotional roller-coaster as well. I remember defending Re:Coded, and being one of the few fans who truly enjoyed it. I remember being amazed by the plot twist filled endings of Dream Drop Distance. And now, I'm ready for the memories that will come with KH3. To be honest, I was slightly crying in joy last night, after the announcement. Kingdom Hearts has been much more than just a game series to me. I grew up with it, and it's grown with me. It's impacted my life greatly, and has taught me all sorts of lessons. So, thank you, Square Enix. You've earned a fan in me once again. Thank you, Tetsuya Nomura. It's your mind that comes up with these crazy storylines I get so attached to. Well, this is all I can really think to write... So, as a closer... WOO, KH3!
