I honestly think they didn't plan to show it today, since it was a Japan-only Direct. The title also kinda implies it was rushed out because of the leak.

Despite the history of 4chan, we have gotten some legit info from that place. 

The Wii version's down to about $50 used now. It was $90+ when I got it, and I don't regret it at all. I definitely recommend it, if you can find a cheap enough copy. I've heard people found $50 new copies at Gamestop recently.

Hell, I found two copies for less than $50 AND they were right next to each other. How rare is that!? Unfortunately, I'd rather wait it out another year, as I've explained to you in the thread specifically about Xenoblade Chronicles.

Yeah, pretty sure that's the purpose of the title. I don't recognize a Xenoblade reference, and it sure as heck doesn't relate to anything in-trailer. I'm really upset that someone went and leaked all of that information, poor Sakurai's hard work at keeping these secrets was all for nothing. At least there are still those few characters that weren't in the pictures sent to the ESRB.

 

Speaking of the ESRB, I noticed this one's E10+. I was expecting it to be T, like Brawl and Melee. Huh.

 

There's a new trailer, too. 

 

It shows off a ton of features for the 3DS version. At least Nintendo's boosting the hype to try and get us all to forget the leak!

I was wondering when Nintendo would accidentally spoil a character through a screenshot/trailer. Although the leak confirmed him, anyway.

The fact that Kirby has an attack that can make him leap forward and inhale is HILARIOUS! That's a great custom move. Prepare for Kirby Suicide Tactics.

I don't get the one that freezes enemies, though... I mean, when was that ever in the games? ._. You think they'd change one of his other attacks to represent Ice Kirby, not add that to inhale...

It does seem weird that Sakurai found it acceptable if it's never been used before. It would definitely make more sense if Kirby blew outward with the move though. 

I love the leap though. Just go play it with unexpecting friends, let them think you're gonna suck them in and just leap and "eat" them instead.

Yeah, the jump/inhale looks awesome.

Ice Exhale is probably based on the Ice Freeze move from the games.

 

 

Of course, using that, you're going to lose the ability to copy B specials, but that's not exactly a GOOD move. But it CAN be helpful, I admit.

It's a damn good trade off, though. Being frozen is one of the more dangerous situations in the games. If not, it's THE most dangerous status effect. You only really got 

 

Asleep, Buried and Stunned as other effects. One can argue that Metal, Slow, and the like are effects, as well. 

 

 

The only way to be thawed out (as far as I know) is by a fire attack. Asleep can be recovered from if you're attacked, same with Stunned. Buried is pretty dangerous, but you aren't hit with any knockback. Ice is where you can be thrown around, and still be frozen, so you're more likely to fall off cliffs.

 

Then again, Buried and Frozen are pretty dead even depending on how the match is going, and where it's taking place.

Fortunately, the Mario & Luigi series have proven otherwise for Mario. Luigi needs that lightning effect though.

Microtransactions confirmed for Mii Fighter equipment. Not really just joking don't kill me please

Just preordered Link and Peach amiibos. Hoping to get all of them.

I might get the Yoshi Amiibo for Mario Kart 8, but aside from that, I'm waiting until later. I really want the Amiibos for Ness, Greninja, and Shulk. Hope those come relatively soon.

 

Also, does anyone have any ideas for who those secret characters could be? I've been trying to come up with some ideas, and wanted to see what other people think.

 

My thoughts:

 

Wolf: Wolf was a popular character in Brawl, and was one of the three secret characters. It wouldn't surprise me if he came back as one this time around. Lucas and Ice Climbers seem to have been cut (Unfortunately), and I don't see them making the transition to secret characters. I think Wolf's still got a shot, though.

 

Mewtwo: With Dr. Mario making a return according to that leak, we know that some old Melee characters could come back. Mewtwo and Roy were the most popular, and since we already have two newcomers from Fire Emblem, I think Mewtwo's more likely. I've seen more people who want him than people who want Roy, too.

 

Marshal: Given the Rythm Heaven character that we have in Smash Run, it seems likely that we'll get a newcomer from the series. While most people lean towards Chorus Kids, the recent suggestion or Marshal seems much more likely to me. If Sakurai had trouble with Ice Clibers, there's no way Chorus Kids would be able to work. Not to mention that Marshal seems more iconic, at least to me.

 

I'd like a fourth character, but I can't really think of anyone else who would fit. I WANT a Mother newcomer, but I know that's not going to happen.
