(Alright, lads and lasses. Here we go.)

 

The yellow eyes of Heartless Shadows were the only thing visible in the dark cave. There was a bigger Heartless in another chamber that had been terrorizing a local town, the perfect target for an aspiring hero. A perfect location.

Suddenly, the Heartless Shadows sensed a heart in the cave with them. They began to swarm for this treat, but were met by the crackle of lightning and flames. Soon, not even the light of Heartless eyes illuminated the darkness. A mechanical light snapped on after it was set up on a wall. Below it, where the light pooled, a poster was put up. It told those that read it to a place to go and a time to be there.

The place, The Old Mansion in Twilight Town.

The time stated was one word. Now.

The figure that put the poster up stepped back to look at it. It was there for the bold and skilled to find. If they could reach it, they could help save the worlds. Of course, this poster and others like it were for those the figure had missed. Personal invitations had already been sent. It just remained to see who would come.

The figure stepped fully out of the pool of light and was gone from that world.

 

 

Standing in the main foyer of the Old Mansion in Twilight Town was Theek Shalma. He began to tap his foot, trying to contain his impatience. There were many things to be done, but he couldn't put off what was going to happen. It was too importance, too big an opportunity. He only hoped his waiting would be rewarded.

King Candy laughed at the attacks that were hitting him for a moment, then their combined toll started getting through his Cybug hide. He yelped and hissed as he tried to jump out of the line of fire.

"I'll be fine." Aeleus told Lucas. "Just keep up your strikes."

The big man slammed his foot into the ground and send a spike of earth up where King Candy was, sending him aloft.

"You are still a little man with no back bone, Candy." The Silent Hero called out. "Even with all that power, you are nothing."

King Candy managed to stabilize himself in the air with his bug wings, his face shimmering to one grayish skin, with yellow eyes and teeth. He snarled and dove for Aeleus. The former Organization member side stepped Candy's dive, grabbing the Cybug by collar and arm. Aeleus turned slightly and smashed King Candy into the ground. Candy roared and lashed out, but Aeleus slid away on lose earth.

Elenar's eyes were closed when Celas got to her. She coughed and her eyes fluttered open at the application of a healing spell. For the barest of moments, the Savage Nymph looked pleased, then a scowl replaced it.

"I did something heroic, didn't I?" She asked sourly.

"Of course you did, Elen, of course you did" Celas said with a smile.The Dark Warrior finished her healing spell and helped the Savage Nymph to stand up. Celas was watching King Candy carefully, looking for an opening to attack."That fool is getting distracted by Aeleus' words. We must wait for the right moment to give him the finishing blow, but for now let's keep him busy"Celas' Keyblade glowed slightly and got surrounded by a dark aura."Take this!"The Dark Master waved her Keyblade unleashing an energy wave directly towards King Candy.

Zion saw the incoming wave of energy from Celas and teleported behind King Candy. Her keyblade slammed into him and shoved him forward.

"Die already." She growled. "Salvation."

 

From each of her Keyblades erupted the Salvation command, damaging King Candy in tandem with Celas' attack, as well as healing all of Zion's allies. "I've had enough with people interrupting my time off!" She shouted. "So has everyone else!"

King Candy screeched as both Celas's and Zion's attacks hit him, cracking his carapace. He collapsed on his back, his legs wiggling in the air.

"No!" Candy hissed. "I can't be beat like this."

Elenar summoned several daggers and stood beside Celas.

"Thanks." She whispered to Celas.

"Enough." Aeleus ordered. "Your complaining alters nothing."

The Silent Hero brought up his tomahawk and put all his strength into a downswing. Green flames sprang into being above King Candy, blocking the tomahawk.

"Fool!" A female voice yelled from the roof of the Mansion.

Maleficent glared down at Candy.

"I did not bring you to this world to be defeated by brats and failures." She scolded. "We will discuss your bumbling later."

King Candy raised a hand in protest towards Maleficent before disappearing in a swirl of darkness. Aeleus stood up straight with his tomahawk at his side, give the Witch a stony glare.

"I was wondering when you would turn up again." He said darkly.

Celas smiled and nodded at Elenar."Not a problem. That's what friends are for."The Dark Warrior was watching as The Silent Hero was about to finish King Candy before green flames blocked his attack."Fool! I did not bring you to this world to be defeated by brats and failures. We will discuss your bumbling later."The silver haired girl searched for the owner of the voice, but was not surprised when she saw who it was."Look what we have here." Celas said in a slightly sarcastic tone. "The Evil Fairy who wants to obtain Kingdom Hearts just to be stopped by a kid wielding an over-sized key"The Dark Master was staring at Maleficent, keeping her Keyblade ready just in case of a surprise attack."I was wondering when you would turn up again." Said Aeleus."Yeah. I thought you were hiding somewhere in the Realm of Darkness. What made you came out of your hiding place?"

Zion looked pissed.

"Come the frakk on. I have Xion in bed waiting, and YOU show up?" Her Keyblades swirled around her. "Can't the world NOT BLOW UP FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES?"

Her wings took her aloft until she was across from Maleficent.

"So you show up yet again. Can't you like, just die like a good evil witch and STAY DEAD?"

Meanwhile... Lanes-between, enroute to Disney Castle.

 

"I... I always knew you had a s-story to tell, Cody."

"Really? I thought it was nothing compared to yours."

 

Luna giggled softly as she rested her head on his shoulders. "Y-you really have ch-changed."

"Yeah" he whispered back, "These last couple of hours have been one heck of an emotional ride. I can see why the program did its best to get rid of any sentient emotions. But thanks to you, these changes might be permanent. Too bad this I get to become this just before being called in for a Prime Directive."

"What about Kairi? And... and Xion?"

"I admit, yes she did break me and did other uh... things, but what do you mean about Xion?"

"She... she looks like her. That's all..."

 

Cody smiled. "Don't worry. Zion would make damn sure I don't give her that kind of look. But I manage to every now and then."

"Boys will always be boys." she giggled, nuzzling his exposed neck.

"Hey! The princess made me normal to an extent. You just... well... reinforced it."

 

They hugged each other, both taking in intimate details of their partner as an alarm gently beeped on the all glass HUD. Cody glanced over before looking up, seeing the world of Disney Castle in full view. "There's one more thing I wanted to say before what may be our final mission."

"Hhm?"

"If you manage to see the end of this and I don't... Tell Princess Kairi I said thank you. She'll understand."

 

Luna gently nodded as the autopilot systems went through the usual re-entry procedures. As the clouds of the world enveloped the ship, both Guardians took a deep breath and readied themselves for their toughest mission yet. As the rhythmic shaking got less intensive, the clouds faded away and revealed the world below...

Maleficent smiled at the Vanguards below her.

"My dear children." She began. "Do you honestly think you matter? You are nothing more then irritants."

Her taunting smile turned to Aeleus.

"Taking orders from washed up villains. Should I tell them of your true plan, Lexaeus?"

The Silent Hero looked unperturbed at the Witch's question.

"It would be interesting to hear what your twisted mind has made of the obvious." He told her. "I'd argue about our 'true' plan with you, but would the point be? I know the truth and you are convinced of your own theories. I believe it is time for your dramatic exit."

Aeleus turned away for Maleficent and towards the others.

"Zion, if you would like to get back to your R&R, do so. The Witch will not be causing a problem now."

Maleficent's face twisted in anger.

"You dare to think you-" She roared.

"But I do know you." Aeleus interrupted her, but not turning around. "You are arrogant, but cunning enough to make sure you have the advantage before starting something. You don't have it here. Your best recourse is to leave."

Maleficent regarded the Silent Hero coldly for a few moments.

"This is far from over, Nobody!" She declared as she disappeared in a swirl of Darkness and green flames.

"Come on!" Elenar exclaimed. "We just let her go?"

"She was leaving anyway." Aeleus told the Savage Nymph. "Attacking her now would have done little. I suggest you prepare yourself for the Witch's next move."

He looked around the group.

"That goes for all of you. You can finish your business, but realize that Maleficent will no wait long for her next move."

He turned to look at Lucas.

"And maybe we can start over with you."

 

Disney Town and Castle spread out beneath Luna and Cody. There were some columns of smoke rising from a few piles of rubble that use to be buildings, but there didn't seem to be any fighting currently. Little dots that were people could be seen running around, trying to help one another with the pockets of destruction.

On the roof of the Castle, two figures watched Cody and Luna's ship come in.

"Who's that?" Donald Duck demanded, readying his staff for more spells.

"That," Dillan answered. "Would be some unexpected reinforcements."

Dillan watched the ship carefully to see where it would land.

Lucas stared at Aeleus. "Yeah, I think we all just got off on the wrong foot from the start." He looked out towards everyone. "My name is Lucas Caelum. Nice to meet you guys!"

Zion yawned and disappeared in a flash of light.

She folder her wings in. "Xi...?"

Hands tugged her arms behind her, and the snick of handcuffs were heard.

"Where were we?"

As Maleficent disappeared away, Celas' gaze slowly moved to the Silent Hero."She was leaving anyway. Attacking her now would have done little. I suggest you prepare yourself for the Witch's next move. That goes for all of you. You can finish your business, but realize that Maleficent will no wait long for her next move. And maybe we can start over with you."The Dark Warrior was lost in thought by the Witch's words."His true plan? What did she mean by his "true" plan." she thought while crossing her arms. "Is there something Ienzo and his group aren't telling us?"Celas was ignoring the conversation that was taking place around her, completely lost in thought.

"We're thirty seconds out from the castle, Luna."

"C-Cody? Th-the whole place is... is..."

"Looks like we arrived just in time. This is Zero-Four to Castle Tower, Chip and Dale. Requesting permission for an emergency landing within Castle grounds. Mind telling me what has happened so far, over?"

 

The dual Guardians surveyed the grounds below, awestruck and horrified at the scene. "Looks like the PD calling wasn't an overreaction" Cody whispered, "This whole place looks... wrong. Damage assessment, Luna?"

"It... looks like the fighting is over. Several destroyed buildings, some personnel below heading towards the rubble. Must be search and rescue at this point."

 

Cody's face scrunched as he tried to make sense of the surroundings. There was no chatter coming over the radio from the other Guardians, not even his dad. He slowly exhaled, then gulped at a grim possibility as the ship got closer to the castle.

Aeleus gave Lucas a curt nod.

"I am Aeleus." He introduced himself. "What brings you here? Did you find one of our messages?"

Elenar made a gave at where Zion had been then looked back at Celas. She noted with some reluctance that she was concerned about how Celas looked.

"Can't wait for our chance at that witch." She comment, hoping that would snap Celas out of whatever she was in and the Savage Nymph wouldn't have to worry about it any more.

"Was having emotions this much of a problem last time?" She thought.

 

Cody's radio buzzed with static for a few moments after he called for landing clearance. Suddenly, there was a violent sound from over the radio, like something being tossed around and hitting things. Then it went quite.

"Tower Control to Zero-Four." Came a high pitched voice from the radio, sounding a little breathless. "This is Castle Tower, Dale here. Sorry for the delay. The workshop was the site of a fight and I'm still trying to find my tools. Things are quite now, but the King suggests staying on guard. Most of the regular landing pads are out or used, so you'll need to land someplace else. Hold on a sec."

There was sounds of a high pitched argument and beeping from electronic devices.

"If your vessel is small enough, you could try to land in the inner court yard where the entrance to the hanger is." Dale came back on the line.

Aeleus gave Lucas a curt nod."I am Aeleus." He introduced himself. "What brings you here? Did you find one of our messages?"Elenar made a gave at where Zion had been then looked back at Celas. "Well, the thing is, i found a note on the door of my home, telling me to come here. I assume it was that evil king. I never thought i'd meet other wielders of.....this weapon." He showed Aeleus his keyblade. "So, can someone tell me what this weapon has to do with the war against Xehanort?"

Luna was softly whimpering, nervously hugging Cody's free arm as the ship continued to get closer to the Castle. She was shaking, worried about what's to come as the radio cackled into life. "Tower Control to Zero-Four. This is Castle Tower, Dale here. Sorry for the delay. The workshop was the site of a fight and I'm still trying to find my tools. Things are quiet now, but the King suggests staying on guard. Most of the regular landing pads are out or used, so you'll need to land someplace else. Hold on a sec." 

 

"You can still back out if you want to" Cody gently reminded the shaking girl around his arm, "we're not diving right into combat from the looks of it."

"I... I said I'm not gonna leave you." she quietly replied, shaking a little less as he reached for the mic.

 

"If your vessel is small enough, you could try to land in the inner court yard where the entrance to the hanger is."

"Zero-Four to tower. Understood. diverting from established course." Still allowing Luna to hug his free hand, he played with the joystick and pointed the ship towards the courtyard Dale was referring to. As the ship flew past the usual landing zone, some very familiar gummi ships were parked on them. "Looks like the others were early to the call." he calmly remarked. As the gummi ship touched down, both protectors slowly exhaled as they exited the ship and entered the courtyard.

"Can't wait for our chance at that witch."Celas finally stopped with whatever she was thinking at the moment before looking at the Savage Nymph."What? Oh...yeah! The next time I see that witch again, she will fall once and for all"The Dark Warrior noted the look on Elenar's face."Come on, don't give me that look" she said to the blond haired girl. "What's on your mind? You can tell me. We are friends after all, right?"

In the courtyard, Xion and Zion were healing some wounded by the entrance of the workshop. Their hanss glowed green as Curaga worked its magic.

"I barely handcuffed you and got started..." Xion lamented a bit. Zion blushed and finished, going to heal another. "Fun time later."

As Luna and Cody exited their Gummi Ship, Dilan landed a few yards away, a whirlwind dissipating around him.

"I wasn't expecting you here." The Whirlwind Lancer commented. "Did Ienzo send you?"

With a loud cry, Donald Duck landed in a bush as the winds he was riding failed him.

"A note? Oh yeah, this morning, i found this note on the door of my house!" He gave the silent man the note that said to come over here to the gates of the mansion.

"What am I thinking about? What are you thinking about? You looked bothered by something."Celas was taken by surprise by Elenar's comment."So you noted, uh?"The Dark Warrior put her hands on her hips and nodded."Well, what the Witch said...something about a "true plan" and..."Celas remained silent for a few seconds before speaking once again."It worries me." she sighed. "I know better than to trust the words of the Witch, but it got me thinking...Do you think Ienzo is telling us the truth? Or the others for that matter?"The young Master put her hand on her chest and shook her head."I have a bad feeling and I can't make it go away."

As Luna and Cody exited their Gummi Ship, Dilan landed a few yards away, a whirlwind dissipating around him."I wasn't expecting you here." The Whirlwind Lancer commented. "Did Ienzo send you?"With a loud cry, Donald Duck landed in a bush as the winds he was riding failed him.

[That face will be giving me nightmares for the next month and a half...]

 

Both Guardians had exited the Overwatch. They surveyed the courtyard, unfazed by the damages as Dilan moved to greet them. "I wasn't expecting you here." 

"Likewise..." Cody nonchalantly replied back. 

"Did Ienzo send you?"

 

"Affirmative." He pulled out Aqua's keyblade that was latched onto his back. "Orders were to deliver this keyblade to Master Aqua. Do you have any idea where she could be?"

Luna gently held his hand that was dangling off to his side. "What of the directive?" she whispered.

"The other Guardians are already here. We can spare some time."

 

"Cody!"

 

They both looked at the source of the voice and noticed his dad descending acrobatically to their level, arrow-rifle strapped on his back. "Nice to see ya again, son!" 

"Um... hello dad." Cody confusingly replied, unsure what to say or do."Hey, we're in uniform. Call me Shadowhawk. Got it, Nocturne?"

"Yes, sir." 

 

Luna gently blushed as she refused to let go of her grip on Cody, deciding instead to step slightly behind him. "Hey, no need for that" his dad remarked, "Nice to meet you!"

She smiled as her face turned deep red. She was shocked at the stark contrasting personalities of the son and father. "H-hello there. I-...I'm Luna, s-sir."

"Cute!" Shadowhawk remarked. "So? C'mon, I wanna hear it from a girl firsthand! Were the reports true? Was he like a pet rock before his deployment to the Princess?"

"Aww, gimme a break dad!" Cody jokingly barked.

"He... y-yes he was, s-sir."

 

Cody stared blankly as his father, who was now quite literally rolling on the floor laughing out loud. Luna started to giggle as well, entertained at the sight. "Your dad is cool!" she managed to say before busting out into a full blown laugh. Minutes passed before they both managed to get serious again, just as the royal magician flopped into the scene.

"Your honor!" Cody immediately snapped to attention, then decided he would be more useful helping Donald get back on his feet.

 

"The poor wanker. Sorry about that" Shadowhawk started, his tone abruptly changing from whimsical to stern and serious, "I just wanted to confirm that report. Anyways, here's the current sitrep. Several of your generation Guardians are out of commission. Me and my buddies have been bringing up the rear and protecting this castle for a while now. Your generation are out on the frontlines, taking the brunt of the attack. Zero-One was decommissioned long ago so you're a member short. Zero-Two and Zero-Six are the ones out.  They're resting in this castle, but they're relegated for last ditch defense now. Me and the others have been assisting by providing long-range sniping on the castle turrets. Another wave has come and gone, and are currently patching ourselves up before the next attack."

"So where do we fit in?" Cody asked.

"After giving Aqua her keyblade back, get out there and even the odds. We're already stretched thin as it is, but with you two, we just might be able to push them back. We should... if we can-"

"Raven here!" his dad's commlink cackled, "Engaging heartless!" As the rhythmic sound of distant thunder echoed the halls, he looked off to the north tower with concern. "Be quick. It's gonna go downhill, fast." Before Cody could say anything, he ran off towards one of the castle turrets with his rifle in hand.

 

"Find Aqua, get out there. I can do that." Cody looked to Dilan. "Any pointers?"

(Guess who's back fools!)

 

Severa appeared in a flash of fire next to Dilan, Cody, Luna, and Donald. Her sword was in her hand, and her muscles were tense. The wanderer breathed heavily, and she appeared bruised and battered, blood coating her hands, and sweat on her brow. She almost collapsed then and there, but caught herself, and stood back at attention. "Dilan... left flank... of the frontline... has fallen. Most soldiers dead. No choice... but to pull back." Severa reported, gasping for breath in between her phrases. Her blade dropped from her hands, and she fell to her knees. Wincing at the sudden movements, Severa continued. "We need back-up and fast, if we're going to hold the castle." Finally, Severa noticed Cody and Luna. "You two! Weren't you guys part of Ienzo's group and stuff?" She asked quickly.

(Guess who's back fools!)

Cody and Luna froze for a moment as Severa appeared next to them. The warrior was battered and wounded severely as she delivered her report.

 

"Dilan... left flank... of the frontline... has fallen. Most soldiers dead. No choice... but to pull back."

 

Realizing that she was friendly, Cody immediately casted his curaga spell, enveloping the girl in a healing aura. Just as he finished with the spell, Luna moved closer to her and started her own targeting healing magic as his commlink cackled with another voice. "Hey! This is Kiwi to Nightwing detachment! West side compromised! Guardian Zero-Six has been struck down, Zero-Seven is barely holding on! There's too many of them for me to do anything! Can anyone assist?!"

 

"Shadowhawk to Kiwi, I'm on the case." The somewhat distant thunder and explosions got more frantic and faster-paced as the one-man reinforcement fulfilled his request.

"Raven to squad. North side is picking up activity, fast!"

"Nightsparrow to squad, South side is picking up activity as well. Shadowhawk, recommend heading back to your post."

"Understood. Moving back to east side."

 

Cody glanced over to Severa, then to the Luna. "Here, take this." He unlatched Aqua's keyblade that was on his back and handed it to her. "Find out where she is. I'm going out on the front-lines. When that's been delivered, find the other Guardians, fix them up, then if you still want to, you can fight alongside me." Luna looked at him with concern, then reluctantly nodded as she took the keyblade away from him. "P-please... be safe, Cody."

 

"I can't promise you that anymore, Luna." he whispered into her ear as he gave her a hug. Before she could reply, he took off....

 

"Nocturne to Nightwing, where do you need me, over?"

"Oh dude! Your son is here?!" Kiwi asked over the comms.

Luna's hands continued to glow as she focused on Severa. Her wounds started to close up as she finished patching up the injured girl. "There you go, good as new!" She smiled, then returned her attention to Dilan. "So, where's Aqua?"

His eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly."Did you see who left this?" Aeleus asked, transferring his gaze to the new Keyblade Wielder. Elenar waved a dismissive hand."Ienzo always has a secret angle or plan." She said. "Hence the nick name 'Cloaked Schemer.'"She took in a deep breath and shrugged."Well, if this helps, back when he was Zexion, Ienzo was pretty big on being loyal to the Organization. I guess if still is like that, he should be loyal to the group he put together."She chuckled slightly."Though, I'm still getting use to the whole trust thing.""What are you talking about?" We pushed Xehanort's forces out!"The Whirlwind Lancer caught movement from above and twirled his spear, deflecting a glowing disk that would have hit him center mass. He looked up to see three dark armored figures, with small orange lights, flying over the castle roof. The disk that Dilan deflected rebounded off the wall and returned to one of the soldiers as the dive bombed him. He spun his spear around again, this time causing a gust of wind to blast the soldier with their flying packs against a wall."ENCOM programs." Dilan spat. "But how did they get out?"He turned and pointed at Luna."Get to the infirmary and defend it. Aqua's there.""I'll show you!" Donald Duck offered to Luna, as he fired a bolt of fire at one of the programs.The Whirlwind Lancer summoned two more lances before placing a finger on his ear."Red alert, more attackers. Even, to the front. Lumiara, join up with the Guardians."With that, Dilan launched his lances at the soldier programs as the recovered.

Celas listened the Savage Nymph in silence until the very last."Yeah..." she said with a stern look on her face.
