Hey everyone, how's it going? You know, in times where political conspiracies and murders run amok on the news, I'm glad to say that there is at least a good bit of news that always makes its way to television. Last week Raymond Arrieta, a television entertainer, made his 5th marathon walk for people with cancer called Da Vida 5to Aniversario. (Give Life 5th Anniversary.) To shed some insight into what this walk is about, I'll tell you a bit about the origins of said walking marathon. It was back in 2008, when in his show Dia a Dia, (Day to Day), his friend and co hostess Dagmar was diagnosed with throat cancer. She was stricken by the news, and Raymond couldn't help but do something about it, and so, he set on doing a walking marathon for her. In the end, he was able to get enough money for an operation that could save her, and to this day, she's alive and well. Throughout these years, the number of people participating in these marathons has increased, and this year more than 50,000 people (more or less) were walking with him, helping him in his noble cause. It's amazing to think that a walking marathon that began with one person would end up inspiring Raymond to make it a yearly event to help those with cancer. This year he set his goal to 120 miles in 7 days, and he was able to make the distance. (He walked the entire way.) They were able to gain almost 2 million dollars for people with cancer, and he's going to do the walking marathon again next year. This man truly deserves all the blessings in the world, because he takes time off his life to help those in need. He is truly an angel sent to this Earth, helping those who are losing hope regain it. P.S: The article is in Spanish, but if you can translate it into English, then okay, but if it's not available for translation, at least you know more or less of this man's incredible work.
