Not a big fan of Rating system

The rating 5 stars on the side of each thread. I don't really see a point to that. Well to me, cause I read people's threads mainly on the title and what section its in. And when I see someone rating it 1 star. I don't really understand.

 

Someone care to explain why we even have that?

Nah, having smiley's is rather a bad approach to it in my opinion, it would just look...odd and silly?

 

Sometimes, I think the rating system is a positive thing to attract more members to popular discussions, but then it can be a negative at the same time; members would dismiss looking at threads if they are about 1-3 stars because the threads seem unpopular.

 

In my opinion, the ratings have also helped me as a Mod (I don't know about the others lol) to look for more offensive posting, spam, threads that have already been discussed, and ones that are just unnecessary.

The problem with the rating system is that so many of the possible discussions that Are good are actually getting 1-star'd to where they're seen as 1-3 stars. So meh.

 

I don't really think it should be in random or videos only if we were to remove it altogether. That would be pointless.

 

I would just say remove it altogether. Maybe a "like thread" button? If people hate it, then they can just not press the like button. The threads that are liked more still will (hopefully) get a higher rating.

 

But to be honest I really don't care for a rating system.

Another thought that came to mind. Is you could do what KairiSora said and make a "like Thread" button. But the more people like it the higher it rises in the Section. So say I make a thread about apples in the random section. If people like it they click like and it moves up?

In all honesty, I would have to agree that the rating system is rather pointless. Even if an entry is well written and original, it always seems to get 1-star spammed. If this is going to happen with every entry, why not just get rid of it?

I don't use the rating system at all, and I don't really care for it - but I DO think ..

It should be removed because if someone made a thread they liked then it got downrated then they might not want to post anymore or something. That's going a bit overboard but I'm still not sure about it. It's like rating the person who made the thread, kind of like .. annonymus put downs? idk. I like the "like" idea. Kinda like facebook? o-o
