Xenoblade Chronicles and Metroid Prime Trilogy restocked at Gamestop

So it appears that almost literally overnight, copies of Xenoblade Chronicles have resurfaced at Gamestop...for $90 used. Go ahead and check GS's store locator; it's very much likely copies are near your area.

A lot of people are speculating several theories, such as Gamestop purposely holding onto the original print so they could sell it for higher when the price ballooned up, or that Nintendo reprinted the game but Gamestop is selling it at used so they can sell it for $90, which wouldn't be the first time they used that tactic.

They have also confirmed that some games like the Metroid Prime Trilogy set will be making a return as well, but if it's going to be priced competitively as well has yet to be seen.

What do you guys think?

Why is Xenoblade so high, I sort of understand why the Metroid Prime Trilogy cost that much , but why Xenoblade?

Most likely it's because the first and only print was really limited because Nintendo of America seemed dead set on their belief that no one was going to buy it. Plus, because you could only buy it at either Gamestop or on Nintendo's website, it meant there was a lot less opportunities to buy a copy. That, and the fact that it was a late-Wii RPG is what I think.

I've already got Xenoblade, so I'm good with that. I'm not a Metroid fan, and I wouldn't want the Prime games on Wii anyway... This doesn't affect me too much, I guess. :/

Pretty much what Jilly said. There were very few copies released in the US, think of it like a modern day EarthBound situation.

Isn't it like: They are buying new re-printed copies from Game Quest Direct for like cheap, and then opening them up and selling them for more?

Sounds shady

Well, it's Gamestop. I honestly get the idea I can't trust them. I decided to give them one more chance with selling games soon, but I don't really like the way they run things. I give them Star Fox Command in perfect condition, they give me $2, then I see it there a month or so later for $20...

Yeah Gamestop is lame like that. Honestly, just sell your games on craigslist or ebay...you'll get more money that way and it won't be as annoying haha

Yeah. I've got a ton of old crap I'm probably going to take in just to see if it's worth selling to them, I get the idea I'll get like $15 for the 14 games if I try though. :/

Wow, that sucks.I can buy pre-owned copies for ca. 30 here.

Makes me glad Xenoblade was only $30 when I got it. :/

Rub it in. :(

So apparently the rumor is that Gamestop had a ton of copies they were sitting on, took the shrink wrapping off, and claimed they were used just to sell them for more. While it hasn't been confirmed to be the case with this situation, I've seen multiple former Gamestop employees and even managers confirm that they do this all the time. It sounds viable to me, honestly. If it's true, then Gamestop's even dirtier than I thought. Not only are they setting them above the MSRP (I think that's the abbreviation...) to make more money, selling them as used means Nintendo won't get a cut of the profit. Way to go, Gamestop. -_- I wish there was some other game store near my house I could go to...
