So,7 years wasn't enough development time for FFXV?Really?

Posted

Look,I'm still excited about Final Fantasy XV ever since it was under the name of Versus XIII....but really,we have to ask ourselves....

Wasn't 7 years an enough development time for FFXV????Seriously this is almost as long of a development cycles as Duke Nukem Forever and The Last Guardian???

What were they doing since 2006 when the game was announced???

Can you honestly tell me that Nomura and his team spent all those years overestimating the Ps3 hardware capabilities????

I seriously don't believe that they were developing FFXV for 7 years especially when 4 years of development for FFXIII were wasted on overglorified cutscenes

Did the game really needed a 7 years development cycle just for it to end up on the Ps4 instead of the Ps3...???I was one of those people who bought the Ps3 just for Versus XIII before seeing other games like MGS 4....and now we have to pay the price of another console to get it????

You might argue that the game would've never worked without next gen technology, but I have to call bullshit on that one

Can you honestly tell me that 7 years of development wasn't enough to make them familiar with how to develop for the Ps3????

No,they could've made the game work for Ps3 and release the game on time, but it's all because of one and one reason only....bad management

If you looked at the development of FFXIII,you'll see that it's development cycle was a complete and utter chaos,People were quitting the company in the middle of development, lot's of things have been scraped, heck I even read that some of the staff died before the game was released in Japan

Yoichi Wada has f,ucked up the company big time before he gets his dirty ass away from it.

If Square managed their development staff and their budget properly,we would've got the game 2 years ago.

But no,Square were throwing their budget all over the place, from failing projects like FFXIV,to westernizing their IPs and throw money at western games that they would've NEVER needed if they managed their development correctly,to the absolute shit piles of iOS games they were wasting money on.

And speaking of budget, hoolly shit,I can't imagine how much money they spent on developing FFXV since 2006 until 2013 up to next year 2014....it has to be in the number of billions...and I mean BILLIONS of dollars,it has to be the highest cost of development Square has ever had. It's like they were in a contest with Duke Nukem Forever and The Last Guardian for the award of the biggest amount of money wasted on a single project.

Final Fantasy XV is the "Now or Never" game for Square Enix right now, they have to make this game SELL,there is no room for f.uck ups,not after 7 years of development cycle, they have to make this game sells more than FFVII,they have to make so glorious that all reviewers can't help but giving it a high score, they can't afford less than 910.Not after this stupidly long development cycle

If FFXV didn't sell well, they would have no choice but to pull a THQAtlus and sell their IPs because they won't be able to cover the GIGANTIC development cost

They need to market this game like CRAZY because the fate of the entire company, and our beloved Kingdom Hearts franchise, depends on it

Also,by the way, they have to release it in 2014 because seriously,we've waited enough, and they had all the time in the world to polish the game as much as they could,I'm tired of waiting, and there are a lot of games I can get in 2014 if this game didn't come out to convince me to buy a Ps4 just to play it.

The game has actually been produced for a few systems, but the next gen kept coming in before they could finish, so they spent a lot of time editing data they already had too suit new consoles, now that consoles work on directx 11 that is no longer a problem and it can be made and finished.

But can you honestly tell me they couldn't have made it for Ps3 only on time???

Look at The Last of Us,a game that came at the end of this console generation and it's LIGHT YEARS better than what Square has made during this entire console gen

If they managed their shit correctly,if they didn't waste their time, money and budget on stuff nobody asked for.

We could've got FFXV in 2011 on the Ps3 and it would've sold well

But no,they keep wasting time and budget on things that never did them any good in the first place

Yea they didnt devote their whole schedule to it, no soubt it would be on ps3 if they had, but square is a huge company and they need too keep producing games to stay afloat, not just one big game, the ios games didnt take long, and the sales were decent. They just need to make smaller games to fund the bigger ones down the line. also the teams that work on ff versus also work on kh and since they are producing one high quality game a year they are limited as to what they can manage. It wouldve been cool if they put it on ps3 though, however i have a feeling ps4 will do it better.

They're big company,so they obviously had more teams to produce other games, instead they're taking some staff from the FFXV(the KH2 team) so they can put them into other project, which would result in more delays for the game.If they managed their staff properly, they would've finished the game by 2011 after finishing FFXIII and they would be able to produce other smaller games.

Yeah I know the Ps4 might do it better, but you can't gurantee that it would be "THE" system seller game for Ps4

the Ps3 has an already established large userbase, and even if the Ps4 was flying in sales, you can't be sure that Ps4 owners won't get distracted by other WRPG for the system like The Witchers 3 or a new Elder Scroll game.

And you know better than I did, that the Final Fantasy series is not the huge system seller that it was before.

XIII-2 sold much less than the original XIII despite being MILES better than XIII,and other FF games isn't doing that well.

If FFXV didn't manage to sell well on both PS4 and Xbox One,this would spell the end of Square Enix, especially with the constant reports of their financial losses

It's been produced for the PS2, PS3 and now PS4.  They kept getting into development and dropping it.

Well you pretty much answered yourself, they obviously werent stuffing around. Why would they spend this much money on a game? Obviously it just has taken a long time and maybe it was necessary for it to come out on PS4. Hopefully the game is massive, and I mean like atleast 30 hours gameplay. I want this game to be big and sattisfying. I know once it comes out that I will forget about all this nonsense because it is going to be a REALLY good game. And Nomura already stated there will probably be sequels although we wont be waiting as long for them. They have probably already started on a sequel. Honestly SE almost went bankrupt so I wouldnt be complaing and accusing them of wasting money. In Nomura we trust.

Final Fantasy XV entered full production in 2011 (that's why we got a trailer that year). So technically,it's been in developpement for 3 years.

If you don't believe me, check the wikipedia page.

Agreed.

Its because Nomura dragged his ass and DIDNT START FULL PRODUCTION UNTIL 2 F***ING YEARS AGO.

But look at it this way. If Nomura hadnt dragged his ass with making XV, Square wouldnt have needed to make XIII-2 and LR to stall for the wait for XV. So it wasn't all bad. I still wish i didnt have to buy a PS4 to play it though, i was looking forward to playing it on PS3. :(

Yea same, but as it is now it looks pretty amazing, i dont think the ps3 couldve pulled off the same quality. All the same we were expecting it to be ported to ps3 i died inside when i heard it at first.

Well, Nomura did say they were trying to figure out the PS3, like every developer. They were just the only ones not to finish it in time.

As long as it's good when it comes out, i couldn't care less how long it takes

7 YEARS WASN'T ENOUGH FOR THEM TO FIGURE OUT THE PS3 ?????

Heck, even Sega figured out how to develop properly for Ps3 after the abomination of Sonic 06,and after that we got Unleashed and Generations

But Square,a much bigger developer took them 7 years to figure the Ps3 out???

I don't believe that,I believe it's because of bad management and a mismanaging  of resources, budget and teams

Goodness, if only the world could bring happiness. I'm tired of the complaining and crying over something little. I dun care how long FFXV takes, or KH3. I know they'll be amazing. Just take a look at each trailer for FFvsXIII and the trailer for FFXV and just look at the amazing amount of change each year has given us. No it didn't take Square 7 years to figure out the PS3, otherwise XIII, XIII-2, and LR wouldn't even exist. It didn't take Nomura and First Development long either, Nomura spent 5 of those 7 years planning out both FFXV and the KH series, working with both projects, and getting concepts together. In fact, he had so much to put into XV he has to plan sequels already. If I were you, I'd just be grateful it wasn't cancelled like the rumors had said months ago.I'm just glad that'll I'll get to play this game at some point in my life and that it wasn't cancelled.

100% agreed

I find it amusing how the arguing suddenly stopped after that little lecture post. =P
