Hey everyone! I'm MDS Veritas and welcome to the sign ups for my new RP idea; Echoes and Ash. I've had the pleasure of being part of a lot of RPs here and I've even started a couple, and I've spent the last couple months thinking up an idea for a new RP. If the vague text above seems at all interesting, I'd ask you to maybe take a look at the RP brief, and, if you're interested in signing up, just reading the rules and filling out a form. The course of human history has always been a rocky one. The more technology and advancements that the human race creates the more potential for skirting a line of self destruction there is. The year is 2185, and humanity's reach has gone into the stars. Thousands of planets now act as humanity's home. New technologies continue to emerge; exciting, fascinating new inventions that could possibly revolutionize the life of every human. In fact, human-kind seems to be moving faster than ever. Much of this new-found speed is due to the abilities of SAs- the "sentient artificials"- which are human-built software-based intelligences with huge logic capabilities and built to replicate human thought as to work well with the scientists with whom they co-exist. A bright future lies ahead of the human race as star ships roam the galaxy, people live among hundreds of different planets, and the scientific horizons of humanity seem endless.

 

That was 2185. That was 19 years ago. That was when it happened. After coming so far human kind suddenly disappeared in a day without a trace. Trillions of souls gone in a heartbeat. The SAs in service went offline one by one until seemingly all were gone. The galaxy was completely silent, and not a soul knows why. However, for all the humans that disappeared on that day, some still survive. 200 years prior, a project began wherein select humans were cryogenically frozen and they were preserved secretly hidden away from the world. For 200 years the people of the early 21st century slept. They are about to be brought back, and it is up to them to find out what happened to the humans, and what dark force is behind it.

 

They fell asleep in a world of activity  and opportunity. They will wake in a world of Echoes and Ash, and they will not be alone.

 

Perhaps not all the SAs went offline...

 Sound interesting? Well then let me give you a rundown of the rules I have in mind and let you get to the character applications if you're interested!

 

• First and foremost; have fun! This is an adventure I hope everyone involved can go on, and that's what it should be all about; the thrill of discovery, the thought of piecing together a puzzle of history, and of course the unpredictability of getting to interact with other characters.
• One character per person. I understand that people like to create their own sets of characters to interact with each other but I'd like to push interacting with other players even more! If your character dies you do have the option to create a new one.
• This is what I like to think of as a "Miniseries" RP. By that I mean I have a distinct amount of things and places in this RP, it's not going to go on for a very long time and you don't have to dedicate a huge amount of time to it without much of a payoff. As such, if you apply, please try to stick with the RP.
• Be fair to other players. Your attacks need to be open for possible dodging and for the love all things good, please don't pull the "I teleport behind you" trick in every fight you're in. Make fights interesting, make them fair. There are going to be things you character can't do in this RP, and choices that have no right answer.
• I'm aiming for a certain amount of people in this RP, and while I think and hope we'll hit that, just so you know there's still a chance I may choose against starting it now if there aren't enough characters.

 

Sound good? Let's go right onto the character template then. The thing to remember, though, is that you're making a character from the present day, they simply wake up in the future. As far as weapons, get as sci-fi creative as you want, and I'll just check to make sure it's balanced enough to use.

Can somebody give me a short explanation on the RP?I've been pretty busy lately,so yeah,I MAYBE will not here on this Site for awhile due to my business,hope you guys understand...

You destroyed some tanks, but then it seems Natron's character found out who was inside one. For the moment, the tanks have stopped moving, giving you time to investigate the person. Henko was being fired on, but he's open to do as he wishes now.

So does that make me allowed to assimilate into the house group?

Oh, now I see. I had confused your location with being at the airstrip, I didn't know you were still posting about being at the cabin. If you would prefer the cabin, then I'll allow to switch there, but for story reasons, we'll have to retcon and simply assume you've been at the cabin since the beginning. Sound good?

Meh, why not. I'll edit and post once I finish my French homework.

BTW, if any of you are feeling kind of confused by all of this, don't worry. The opening here is purposefully jarring, things will come into better focus soon.

Do whatever your character would do at that time. For right now there's really not a lot of reasons not to try.

The hand is already dead. You can't kill it, only destroy it.

By the way, everyone, for the point of avoiding confusion;

 

There are three completely separate areas in which things are happening. I'm controlling characters and situations in all three so I often make posts referencing two or often all three areas. I seperate it with a line of dozens of "-"s, so it looks something like this:

This signifies that I'm changing the scenario I'm posting about. There seems to have been some slight confusion about this. So there is a giant mech on the airstrip, robot centaurs on the beach, and zombie tanks in the jungle cabin area. These things aren't present in the other areas, please don't assume they are just because it's in a single post. I try to give a good indication about what section I'm talking about so people know which part of my post relates to their characters. I'm sorry if that hasn't been fully clear thus far, but hopefully this post helps any confused people out.
