Welcome to the Mono Type Pokémon Tournament! 

This tournament will consist of Pokémon surrounds a certain type that I will randomly give to you through a certain method which will be explained later on! 

 

You will be using this site to create your team, and battle other competitors in this tournament in "Custom Match".

The tournament has ended on September 27th, 2013 and the winner is OthersiderME! We had proxies (which are substitutes) for the finalists (both Teppo223 and OthersiderME) since they were not able to battle. These proxies were Shana09 who substituted for OthersiderME and Newa who substituted for Teppo223! Thank you all for joining and watching! ~Rule and Restrictions~ 

- MUST be a Pokémon surrounding the types you were given. It can be a dual type as well, like Bisharp who is a Dark/Steel type if you have a Dark or Steel type theme.

- If the opponent doesn't show up and doesn't battle till a certain Round deadline, then you will be promoted to the next round.

- You can use only 2 legendaries per team. If you pick Arceus, you have to have the plate that represents your type theme. For example, if your type theme is Water, then your Arceus better be holding a Splash Plate. Trust me, I know if your Arceus isn't having its respective plate.

- We will use "Custom Match" when we battle in the tournament due to the restrictions in "OU", but you can use "OU" or "Ubers" to practice against other strangers on the site.

- Be sure to tell me whether you can't battle ASAP and don't wait it out till the very end to tell me, if you do we then have to disqualify you and promote your opponent. If you are able to battle a bit after the deadline, and depending on how the tournament is going, then I will allow you to still battle.

- You must fill out the sign out sheet.

AST = Arabian Standard Time (The person in this tournament are Arabian or East African) 

UTC = Universal Standard Time (Not sure, but possibly Russian or Eastern Australian) 

GMT = Greenwich Mean Time (The person in this tournament are possibly European or African) 

Central = Central Standard Time (The person in this tournament are American or Canadian)

PST = Pacific Standard Time (This person is on the west coast of North America)

EST = Eastern Standard Time (This person is on the east coast of North America and the north west coast of South America)

 

Brackets:

This will be updated once we have a full set of participants and a few days before the tournament starts. Once it does, please talk to your opponent about when to battle. If you don't battle for the a lot of days and the round's due date is coming, I have to intervene.

 

Tournament Schedule:

 

First Round: September 6th - September 10th

Second Round: September 11th - September 14th

Semifinals: September 15th - September 16th

Finals: September 17th

 

 

NOTE: If you finish your First Round match and your next opponent who you are going to battle in the Second Round has too and the deadline hasn't passed, you can battle him/her early on. This applies to ALL rounds, so if you finish early you can battle early. There are going to be due dates, you can start whenever you want.

 

 

Pokémon Type Method:

 

1) I go to Www.random.org

 

2) Generate a number between 1 - 17 (1 = Bug, 2 = Dark, 3 = Dragon, 4 = Electric, 5 = Fighting, 6 = Fire, 7 = Flying, 8 = Ghost, 9 = Grass, 10 = Ground, 11 = Ice, 12 = Normal, 13 = Poison, 14 = Psychic, 15 = Rock, 16 = Steel and 17 = Water.)

 

3) Whatever number comes up, that is your type! I will do this, not you. Trust me I wont cheat, the more harder to deal with the type is the better. Each type got their flaws and strengths anyways, so don't pout!

~Personal Tips~

 

- Stuck on the fact that your team might be good or downright terrible? You can go down two routes! Ask a friend who is participating in the tournament or someone you know who is good at Pokémon and battle him under "Custom Match"! You should battle different teams rather than just the same one to conclude whether your team is good or not. The other route is to challenge strangers, but this could not work at all since there might be a time where OU/Ubers/etc. might not allow your Pokémon team to battle because one Pokémon has an ability unreleased or is not allowed in that tier. You do NOT have to change your Pokémon, you can just follow Route A, but just know that you could probably give your team away to your possible future opponent. Also if your team beats a good amount of opponents with different teams but lose to some others, its up to you to decide whether the team needs some tweaking or not. Remember, not every team is perfect, there are going to be walls so have some Pokémon that can take down those walls while the other Pokémon use whatever strategy you are using.

 

 

- Strategy has a good chance at winning. Sometimes it can even triumph over people who just put a team together for no reason. But also know that your Pokémon must be qualified for the types listed above and make sure they are strong and resilient. Strategy can come from parahaxers (Toxic/Paralysis/Flinching/Etc.), walls (People who can take many hits), Speedy Sweepers (People who are born to kill). Even Pokémon with Item-Ability combos (Toxic Orb + Poison Heal = Large amount of healing per turn), Move-Ability combos (Fire Punch + Iron Fist = Boosted Fire Punch), or even Surroundings-Ability combos (Rain + Swift Swim = Doubled Speed).

 

- If you want to go for boosting your stats but your Pokémon can't take any hits, apply Focus Sash with it. Focus Sash, if your Pokémon has full health, makes the opponents attack make your health go to 1 instead of 0. Imagine you use Shell Smash and then the opponent attacks and makes your health go to 1. You will get so much Speed, Attack, and Special Attack from that move than you'll be to sweep and attack every Pokémon. But it is all up to you! 

 

- Type disadvantage and advantage is very useful, it will work. 

 

- PRACTICE! It works like a charm! Sometimes you can get ahead with luck, but practice has a more of a chance of actually letting you win! I didn't get much practice last tournament due to some difficulties but I can assure you it will work. Sometimes luck has its ways, but if you want to win rather than getting past the first round, then practice.

 

- You can have up to 4 teams, due to we have 4 rounds. First Round, Second Round, Semifinals and Finals. 

- Switch out and make smart predictions!

 

- Don't get angry that you lose, sure you can be like "Dammit I lost" but don't take it personal and ruin it for everyone else. You can joke around, but if you are serious about it then you can't join future tournaments. 

 

- Due to you being restricted onto one type, you have to make the most of your versatility  If you are a Steel type trainer, then you gotta do something against those pesky Ground, Fire and Fighting types. Either moves, abilities, or to neutralize (or immune) yourself from the attacks.

I wanted to see how I'd fair up against Shana with her fighting team. Shana you shouldn't have trouble with this, not difficult at all.

If it wasn't for constant hax, and here I am hoping Focus Blast would eventually miss. PS gave me the big middle finger this time. lulz

 

I was thinking about it, but it's frail. Sure Wevile is, but the speed makes up for it. I also wanted to test out it's DW ability. Damn GameFreak, y u no release such good ability?

Meh, I rather be defeated with some hax than be defeated only due to a lot of hax. No offense when I said Shana won't have any problem, because I was doing just fine till the constant misses happened. Heck I even tried to come back just to get haxed again. /endrant

Well if you won then I would easily say I could advance to the next round due to type advantage. I'm pretty sure I wont have trouble, but I have to say I may need to note that moves that have a low chance of hitting may not be a good idea to use. Focus Blast is a terrible move.

Well Focus Blast isn't a good move to begin with. It's been well known that it's hit chance is nearly terrible even though its so strong. It's not really your fault, but repeatedly using Focus Blast after a few times of not working wasn't a terrific idea.

So, I'm not too sure if OthersideME and I will be able to have our battle by the deadline (end of tomorrow). I sent them a PM earlier today to try and get a time set up, but they haven't logged onto the site since 2:00 AM in my timezone (way before I sent the PM). I did send a follow up specifying exactly what time frame I'll be able to battle tomorrow, so hopefully they'll see that and we can work something out. But yeah, at the moment I really don't know...

Good game, OthersiderME! I knew it was over once Blissey and Arceus fell, being my only walls. Chili did admirably, glad I got to use him in the tournament. I do wonder what might've happened if that last Rock Blast didn't miss. Anyways, good luck in the finals!

I was kinda panicking with the Rock Blasts like 'oh that's not good i have nothing defensive to live through that' but it ended up working out.  oh wait i'm in the finalshow did i get here

I was getting excited once Chili (sorry, can't spell the species name for the life of me) took down Reshiram. Then I was sure Arcanine would out-speed it, but I was surprised again. New Pokemon to add into my top ten.

Chinccino is just a perfect Pokémon, I love him. So OthersiderME I think its time to end this tournament by have you fight teppo. Good luck!

The sun truly is a destructive force, isn't it?  I'm just lucky I haven't gone against any other types of weather to get rid of mine.

Teppo isn't online when Othersideme is so they can't fight yet, that is what he said to me today. I told him to set up a time for the fight to get this tournament done.
