The wind blew softly over the island. Besides the soft swaying of the trees there was little to disturb the idyllic serenity here. The island stretched out for miles, but at the coasts there was nothing to see but water. The island, like the universe in which it existed, was nearly empty, the remnants of life clung, decaying, to its shores and its trees and its fields, but the yells of excitement, of fear, of courage that has once complimented the sound of the wind ha since faded to echoes. Today, however, that changed. Today life returned to the universe. The only question is; what kind of universe would it return to?

"C'mon, get up!"

"All of you, wake up."

"Rise and shine, it's a new day."

Far away voices entered the hazy minds of those sleeping on the island.

Lying on the shore of a short beach was Seraphim Valentine, Derik Absolon, and Samantha Allison, and Rodin Seefull. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

Lying in the middle of an airstrip surrounded by jungle was a different group. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay Alex Dimanche, Ferro al'Vere, and Hazimie Azhar Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four people; Rija Mors, Terry Frost, Henko Tenioenai, Koizumi Onnea, and Rin Nozomi Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an immaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

The far away voices slowly awakened all of these people. The clouds in the blue skies above moved slowly; the morning was upon them. It was time to wake up and find the future...

"It's...it's not fair." Sera watcbed her tears fall. Then she wiped her eyes."Vergyl. Tell me exacrlt how SA's are put together. Everything. I want to know where the base code puts the one thousand two hundred and thirty fifth zero is."Sera's voice had grown a bit hard at that. "Is there no way to restrict them again? Is there really no way to not become...them?" Seraphim looked at her arm computer."I refuse to stoop to their level Vergyl. There must be another way. Tell me the other way."

"That's just it: even if there were another way, and for us not to stoop down there with them, they deserve no less than that of which they could cause other existing things." Derik looked to Seraphim. "Unless, of course they did it to try and save everyone." Derik mumbled. "But that isn't the case here; they acted out of mallace, and thus their own undoing should be worse than which they did harm by. They dug they're grave, now its time to cover them up and use them as fertilizer for living things better than them." Derik's voice had a tenge of hate in it now. "Vergyl. Take us to Genesys, from there, we can create some ideal creatures to help us fight against the other's forces. We need army's to defeat Hulk's, if you know more or less what I'm refrencing. Anyway, we need the man power, and with Ferro dying, and that boy dead as well, we're way low on numbers..." Derik talked, his stratigic side starting to form. "We need beings capable of all forms of combat: land, sea, air, and the technological aspects respectively. We would need someone to train troops made with the Genesys machine, so, if we do go with a plan similar, I volunteer for land-based combat teacher." Derik looked around the room. "Miss hacker probably could teach well-enough on hacking and code-scripting, so if she is able and willing would teach the tech side, Alex has the D-Ppennage, the only weapon of our arsenal that is built for air, so I would ask Alex to teach there..." Derik began thinking more intensively. "Sorry, my run-away thoughts escape sometimes..."

"That's why you're not the hacker...when has death truly solved anything?" She shook her head. "I won't stoop low. I will do something worse. Far worse. I'm going to strip them of everything. Power. Control. I'm going to confine them in a box, and let them scream. Let them scream and cry and beg. And when they have been almost dead for decades, I'll turn them into counting programs, and let them scream in whatever thought process an SA has."

Sera stared long and hard at Vergyl. "The informatio . If you please."

"Sera." Rodin said in a understanding, but concerned tone.  "I more than know the three SAs did an extremely terrible thing and for Elaryse lying to us about this.  Yes, they should be punished for what they've done.  But what you're saying, it just seems like torture.  Like a fate worse than death."

"You could construct a version of humanity that has certain knowledge bases, yes, so they would not need to be created as the equivalent of infants." Vergyl asked the first question he heard. He turned to Seraphim then.

"You are obviously angry, but you must understand- the architecture of an SA system is mobile and fluid. It exists on several networks simultaneously and changes in a little time continuously. To attempt to confine the SAs with your own method would be incredibly difficult of not technically impossible. The tether was built at the same time as the SA with the same code base so it changed as they changed, which was why it was so effective. But they are too expansive in their codebase now, it would take years to write enough code to restrict them and by that time they would have already grown far larger. The most effective means in the Recall Protocol, a virus that is built to move more rapidly through an SA code than an SA can actually change it's location or build onto itself more. Destruction is by far the moest statically likely means of eliminating the threat. You should think on this, you seem emotionally distraught and I will not push the matter."

He then turned to Derik. "With the Recall Protocol I can supply you with, you have no need for an army. It would in fact be more effective for there to be less of you. You can move quickly to Earth in that case. Another issue is the nature of what you are dealing with in Genesys. You are creating an entire race beings, and if you do so, you must face the consequences of your actions. If you were to create a warrior race, what would you do once your cause was won? Would you destroy them? Would you let violent beings coexist with you? The nature of Genesys is an existential one. Merely recreating humanity is by far the optimal choice in the matter."

The screens behind Vergyl flashed to a huge hanger. There were 5 humanoid armored beings standing in the hanger. The thing was, they were was tall as skyscrapers.

"This is the scrapped black ops project codenamed Armored Phantom. Large humanoid robotic suits piloted by a neural connection. These will be the most adaptable and dynamic means of making it to Earth. Each is different and can hold up to 3 people if need be, though only one can pilot it. They each come equipped with a variety of weapons. You should choose either to pilot one and warp to Earth or feign ignorance to the other three and use them to make it Earth. The choice is up to you."

Finally Vergyl walked over to Ferro. "I apologize for not answering your question, I was searching various data logs while I spoke to give you a definitive answer. I apologize, but I could not find a log of who put you into the cryogenic freezing facility. A curious note, however, is that you are the only one frozen with an attached data note. I shall show it to you now."

Vergyl waved his hand and a holographic text message appeared. It was simple, and short, and to the point.

"Keep Ferro safe. Please."

Vergyl said nothing for a moment. "I know not what threat you were saved from by being frozen, or who did it. I can guess only one thing from this. You were cared for. I believe you still are."

Letting Vergyl finish, Sera slipped off the table and hobbled over.

"There always is a way, as long as there is a will to find it. I'm not going to sacrifice my morals by murdering them. I refuse to become them." Sera frowned. "Now. The recal virus moves faster then them. Can I tweak some code so it rewrites, not erases? Using the basis of Recall, couldn't I trojan horse in an improved tethering system, forcing them into a confined space, like a ship or datapad?" Then paused. "Also. The other SAs have ships. Any way you can disable them to buy us time? I always wanted to be a Gundam pilot." She grinned weakly.

"And...I guess no personal use of Genesys?" The girl joked, ruefully looking at her hair. The dye was horribly faded. She needed to redye one day.

(Please ironically kill Rin. I can't do this roleplay because I keep getting far behind...Sorry ;~; )

"You're not the only one Sera."  Rodin says with a smile and look of excitement.  "I guess it's like a guy says:  'There are always giant robots.  Always.'  Considering this is a futuristic time, that proves true.  But to pilot these things, there's got to be some kind of training we have to go through, right?"

Ferro's face fell as Vergyl spoke, and fell even more as he heard the message. "Whoever put that note there must have cared about me a lot. I s-shouldn't have let them down." Ferro closed his eyes and stayed that way for a few seconds, then opened them again. "I've decided I can't die yet. In my time, people would sometimes transfer their consciousness to robotic bodies when they got old. It was new technology, and expensive, but I was wondering. . . Can you do it to me? I can't let whoever it was down." And I think I might know who, Ferro thought.

"Ferro... I'm glad to hear you say that." Derik smirked a little. "And if you want to retain your body, I'm certain I have an idea of what we can do, at least now that I'm able." Derik smelled the bottle of liquid he had engested to cure him. "Smells like... A form of murcury that was used as a base to counter the toxin's heavy acid-like structior... Probably had the mercury atoms bond quickly and nuturalized them both... Intresting... I also smell carbon, uranium... Led... Phosphorus... Hydrogen... Oxygen... Sodium... Chloride... And lots of other elements...." Derik thought for a moment. "With that poision and the appropriate materials, I could synthesize a regenerative liquid that could regenerate all the damage done by reversing the effect of the toxin so that it increases the human body's performance temporarily to extreme levels, but it wouldn't be safe to have you move as you are recovering..." Derik gave Ferro the option. "We could also do as you said, fill your mind into a robot, or I can try extreme emergency surgery. Robotic body is the safest and most gaurenteed, my potion the most effective, the surgery most dangerous..."

"That's why you're not the hacker...when has death truly solved anything?" She shook her head. "I won't stoop low. I will do something worse. Far worse. I'm going to strip them of everything. Power. "The informatio . If you please."

That makes you just as bad. They erased the humans physical and mental state, but could technically be still alive, held inside Genesys out of their own will..." Derik looked her in the eye. "Besides. With them contained, what would we do with them? They're gonna be here after we leave, stuck. Even evil must die, and not allowing it to do so only proves your true coat as well.

"Wait... Freakin' mech suits? That's beyond belief..." Derik muttered. "But no, not violent race, human. Or combat-improved, I should say. Hardened skin and bones, large number of muscle cells from creation, and other adaptations to improve surivival but still the mental capacity of a human. But if this computer virus is as you say, you're right. Smaller, faster is better." Derik then had to think. "We can carry anyone who didn't directly fit in the Mechs into a back-mounted pod, take all three mechs, and, if possible, go out at lightspeed to escape they're ships. If not, we blast our way through"

"If its by neural, we just have to tell the machines where we want to go." Derik smiled at the thought. "My fondest memorys as a child were Gundam, so this will be fun."

Rija looked around her surroundings. "Mech suits? Sounds like fgun." She spoke for the first time since Vergyl had stepped in. She stepped forward, making her presence more felt. "So the plan is to get these mechs, then go and destroy the Genesys machine? Wouldn't it be faster for us to just go as us without the step of going for the robots? We've made it this far without something like that." Rija said, trying to think of doing things the most efficient method. In her silence, she had decided that she was not trust any of the SAs. Her personal goal was to get to Genesys, and recreate humanity. Whether or not an SA would help her with that quest, would be up to them.

"Destorying the macine would be a waste. Without it, humanity would never repopulate in millions of years to even a pervent of what it likely was." Derik said. "And we would have to be the ones to repoppulate... And I don't know any of you amonst our small group well enough for that..."

"I'm sorry, I misspoke. I meant use Genesys to our advantage." Rija quickly apologized, looking at Derik thankfully.

"I'm sorry," Vergyl spoke to Seraphim "It is simply too dangerous to attempt to change the virus. The reason it's so effective is because file deletion is relatively a quick process. To create a system to dynamically alter code would be greatly difficult and unnecessarily risky. It would simply be far too much of a gamble."

Vergyl walked over to Ferro as a small item was brought over by a mechanical arm.

"This may not be very pleasant, but if you wish to live on in SA form I can assist you. This.." he pointed to the small device on the table, that looks like the machine those with diabetes might use to check their blood, "... is a consciousness transfer module. Stick it into your neck and thousands of nanomachines will carry the needed tissue and electrical impulses of your brain to the machine itself. From there we can rework it as computer based code. It won't be necessarily pleasant, and you will technically be dead for a few moments as the consciousness is transferred, but afterward I can upload it temporarily to one o the Armored Phantoms. After this is over we can find a more stable solution. I will now proceed to go through the abilities of each Armored Phantom, or AP, and you may choose who will pilot them from there."

Vergyl disappeared and the first mech from the screens appeared as a holographic projectile. It was a sleek mostly white machine, with blue lines across it with an ion propulsion system built into huge movable sections on it's back that looked exactly like wings. In it's hand it had a huge built in laser cannon.

"This is Model 1, Codename Wing. It is incredibly good at air mobility and general speed. It comes equipped with a missile system and a designated laser-based ranged gun.

The next hologram was a more large hulking thing. It was almost entirely red. It's method of movement seems to be anti-gravitational engine on it's back. One arm was equipped with a basic tungsten-based Railgun, and the other was a huge drill.

"Model 2. Codename Lagann. Greater defensive abilities, and more forceful attack, but it is also slower in general mobility. It comes equipped with a rail gun and high speed drill approved for penetrating 92% of known metals."

Next up was another sleek mech. It was mostly purple with some other trim colored on it. A huge energy-based dagger was on it's side, with a small series of missile pods to back up it's ranged abilities. It seemed to have boosters on it's ankle areas for air abilities.

"Model 3. Codename E.V.A. Far less weapon capacity is countered by the fact that it's sleek design hides the most strength of any of the available APs. It could rip apart most mechs with it's hands, and the assistance of the attached knife is also a great benefit. It comes equipped with several missiles pods to supplement ranged ability."

Moving right along the next was the biggest mech yet. It didn't even seem exceptionally well armored, but it was amazingly armed. Missile pods lined it's chest, it's hand seemed to double as a mobile short-burst short-range plasma cannon, it's other hand came with a retractable blade attachment. On both it's lag peices were two separate large-round machine gun weapons. It had huge boosters on the soles of it's boot peices.

"Model 4. Codename Gypsy. This is the most well-armed of the APs. At the same time, it is one of the slowest and doesn't have the best armor either. It can take up a huge amounts of targets or throw a ton of firepower at an enemy though."

Finally it came down to the last one. This one was not quite bulky but neither necessarily sleek. It was a crimson red, but a different shade than the second model. It's arm was very different from the rest of it's body, as the fingers of it's left arm are huge and the hand itself was silver. The arm looked like a sizable weapon in itself. An energy system on it's back appeared to give it to potential of flight.

"Model 5. Codename Knightmare. This model is good at defensive maneuvers, able to use it's arm and an energy-based shielding system to defend against most attacks, and can even return such attacks on the enemies themselves."

Vergyl paced. "So you must all pick one to travel in. And someone must be a pilot too. I leave the choices up to you. My powers are limited so I cannot halt the other SA's ships. Once you are ready, we must make haste. Now is when the final assault begins."

(Nice references from all of these.)"I'll take and pilot E.V.A. seems the one best suited for me, anyway." Derik looked at its model. "Quite the machine for me."

Rodin stared and said:  "I'll go and pilot Lagann.  The defense is nice, but looking at the drill, it seems like it has great offensive power.  It's just the thing for me."

Ferro picked up the consciousness transfer module in a shaking hand. "I must stay alive. Put-put me in control of K-knightmare." Ferro jammed the consciousness transfer device into his neck. He felt a cool, tingling sensation travel to his head. He felt his limbs go numb.

"Wing. I like that laser gun. I go solo." She stood. "Rodin. Take the others. I have a stupidly crazy idea that most likely will get me killed." She looked at her arm computer. "I'm uploading all my hacking software to you, Rodin. Passnit around. Vergyl. I need complete schematics of each SA ship." She looked pretty damn determined. "Someone has to keep Wufei busy while Duo leads the breakthrough operation." She slightly joked. She looked at Vergyl. "Someone has to slow them down Vergyl. You know that."

"No damn way in hell are you dying, too. We already lost someone, and Ferro is now technically dead, so if you have a hair-brained plan..." Derik walked over to Seraphim. "I'm goibg with."

"What do you mean Sera?"  Rodin asked a little confused.  He then says;  "Derik's right.  There are already too many people who've died.  Whatever you have planned, I'm coming too.  There's not a chance in any way I'm losing you."

"I'd be glad to pilot the Gypsy. Like the name, and I like weapons." Rija put in. All five were taken now. This would be their endgame. Theoretically, either they got to Genesys, or they all died, humanity's last hope dying with them. It was a gamble, but Rija had always been something of a risk taker. She still didn't trust Vergyl completely, but the other humans did, and she trusted them.

Serqphim ahook her head. "You need every AP you can to Earth. EVA won't be useful for my plan. Neither will Lagann. Please Derik, Rodin." She smiled softly. "If God gives me luck...I'll see you at Earth. So please. I have to go alone." She looked at the hologram of Wing.

"You and the others need to get everyone to Earth. You need your firepower there." Her faded pink hair seemed to start shining. "Derik. If you are going to do anything, then please. I beg you. You have to let me go alone. Rodin...I have to do this one alone." She smiled.

"Besides...I don't have much of a future. I never did. Even here i depended on others. It's time I did something more then open a door, unhook genocidal monsters. Relied on everyone." She looked. .at peace. "You know that we have to delay them. But most of them aren't suited for space engagements. Wing is suited for high speed engagements with full mobility anywhere. And you know if I don't delay them long enough, you'll need everything possible to hold off their ships. Vergyl!" She looked at him again. "Any more APs, or even a cool ship on Earth? Oh, and does Wing transform?"

This is rather strange. I can feel my entire existence, down to the smallest level. And yet, I still feel whole. Is this what the SAs feel like? I need to think about this.

It really is too bad that this consciousness transfer device has no sensors. I'm completely in the dark until they decide to plug me in to something with sensors. I'll just hang tight.

I've only been awakened for less than a minute, and already I feel like I've spent hours waiting. The SAs must suffer from severe boredom, what with no humans to give them tasks to keep them occupied. I think I can understand why Daerius went insane.

"Knock it off." Derik's tone became dead-flat. For once, he was really serious. "I learned to never leave a man out in the field, should I have the opportunity, you self-Righteous prick. Did you see the result of what I did when I thought I was doing right? People died. I won't let you go alone, for the sake of everyone. Besides, I have to honnor the dead, and fulfill his responsibilitys. He was the guy getting into fights he didn't have a business being in, so that's my responsibility now." Derik sighed. "Besides, more numbers, more chance for survival. And my mech can tear holes through most anything, and so can Rodin's. Whatever plan you have cooked up means you wouldn't be entering. Besides, none of us know how to use your technology. Everyone has a role, yours is not of a combat one. Don't blame yourself for not fighting when you erent suppose to." Derik looked away. "I... I am a poser. Of us all, I should have died, rather than them. But your not. Far from it. You never lied and pretended. Why kill yourself?" Derik almost started to cry. "Why...?" Derik mumbled... "I'm just... I'm tired of this. I just want to go back to my miserable time and live out my little sad life now, rather than watch this anymore..." He left the room in a need to compose himself.
